so filthy I that I don't want to touch them without a radiation suit and tongs..
Really though, the FIRST thing that any computer I service gets is CLEANED.
The keyboard is the most disgusting thing of all, people eating, drinking, picking their noses, scratching their privates, you name it. The keyboard is a petri dish.
I mix 50/50 antiseptic mouthwash and 91% rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and mist the keyboard, then scrub it with a nylon scrub brush. I have an air compressor with an aardvark nozzle that I blow the keyboard out with. The keyboard looks 100% new (unless it turned yellow from a SMOKER) and it 100 times cleaner that it came in as.
I open the PC and blow all the crap out, including the drives and fans. If the owner is a SMOKER, then the job is extra nasty and takes more aggressive cleaning. Cleanest computers come from elderly, upper class people, filthiest computers come from poor people who usually have lower hygiene standards and more likely to SMOKE than the upper class folks.
Also, computers on the floor in a carpeted room get clogged up with carpet dust no matter how clean the habits are of the owner, carpet disintegrates as it wears out and the fibers that break off (as dust) get sucked into the running PC fans..
and there was a schematic for the communicator. It was a standard ch14 walkie-talkie schematic. I don't know how many people they had intended on being able to interpret the schematic but it was there back in the 1960's blueprints package I had.
They weren't too far off from reality back 30+ years ago..
I saw this cool ass music video by Pato Fu on WorldLink TV, "Made in Japan" and this cooper thing reminds me of it. This is a damn cool video, tune to linktv and see it sometime.
I was just about to go crazy snapping up CHEAP E* systems from pissed Dish customers as they switch, then sell them back to them later after this worked out..
I had figured on a ~30 day window. So much for getting rich quick..
I suspect they are trying to hide the fact that M$ has a LOT of STOLEN Linux code in it. Why not eh? Gate$ is a known IP thief and general bandit. And with the source code to M$ all closed up, who's to know?
Linux birthdate, 1991 Windows birthdate, 1995 (Win 95 that is)
Tough shit if the system(s) attacking you are hijacked systems, they are attacking you and need to be stopped.
If you are walking down the street and someone yells "RAPIST" and points you out and a crowd of strangers acting only on what they have just heard, jump on you and begin beating you up, is it right for you to just lay there and let the strangers beat on you just because they are acting on misleading information?
No, you would defend yourself with physical force and all means at your disposal. Why should anyone just "lay there and take a beating" ??
It's just a shame you can't pump 440v down the line and fry the attacking systems. Shut them down and stop the attacks. What more damage can you do anyway? The attacking systems are already damaged, why not just do them in so that the owner is forced to notice and repair the problem, versus leaving it alone as it continues to wreak havoc un-noticed by it's owner.
They do this same thing at the college where my son is, they shut down the entire dorm building and go from room to room with a clipboard and a walkie-talkie to manually certify each machine clean. (When they came in and found my son is running Linux they said "Oh, never mind" and moved on:)
Once the building is certified "clean" they turn it back on. They had to do this because the entire building (as all the others on campus too) had become massive petri dishes and choked the entire university offline.
Now, Road Runner is virus scanning my incoming email, which for joe average is fine but it pisses me off. I have people all the time trying to forward email to me for "autopsy" but RR deletes it before it gets to me. I NEED to have those viruses sent to me so I can examine them for the people that I support. I've had to find a third party email provider that does not filter email and it costs me extra each month.
I've asked RR to cease and desist on filtering my email.
One last thing that RR does that pisses me off is that they blacklist email. I have people that send from certain locations that are 100% legit but because that service may host someone that is a spammer, RR blocks ALL email coming from that domain(s) and RR does not even having the freaking courtesy to notify me they are blocking my email. I had to find out when people call me on the phone and complain that RR is bouncing all their mail back as "rejected due to policy violations"...
I want an OPT OUT of the BIG BROTHER / NANNY policy. I don't need them to protect me from the big scary internet..
Too bad though, most EU civilians now are forbidden to own weapons.
When cops enter your home by "dynamic entry", that's one thing, but when CIVILIANS (which is what those private raiding parties are over there) break into your home by force, then they should be SHOT DEAD ON THE SPOT.
Maybe they can get some sharp sticks and skewer a few of them. When some of them get killed pulling these bullshit raids they'll back off..
Note to those thinging of this here: This is the USA, we are ARMED. Don't try it. You've been warned.
so I finally told my folks that the time was upon them to put a stop to the BS.
Since they are computer dummies anyway and only use the PC (over dialup) for email, browsing, ebay, digital camera, and printing it was a no brainer.
I built them a brand new PC from scratch and installed Suse on it. They can do EVERYTHING they need to do and they have had ZERO problems with it.
As a matter of fact, they find it easier to use because it simply works, versus fighting constantly with the M$ machine they used to have. No BSOD's, no reboots, no viruses, etc... It just works and works and works and works and.....
Best thing I ever did. I was SICK and tired of the constant phone calls. Now I call them every once in a while just to see how the PC is doing. "No problems!"
Because they didn't understand Windows anyway, switching to Linux was not a problem for them. I switched ALL of my family and friends to Linux. Life is good...
I don't have to be a CA customer/user to recomend products/services do I? When did that become a requirement?
When I have a customer with a certain need and I know of a product or service that will fulfill that need, well, there you have it. It's called "consulting"
And again, RTFA does NOT work here. And if you weren't able to RTFA because of the HTTP request traffic hitting their resources perhaps it might be a lesson to not believe everything you read on/. as being 100% fact.
Ok, so if the JPL site were to be offline from "HTTP request traffic hitting their resources" then I shouldn't believe that there are robots on Mars wandering around sniffing rocks for water?
*some* CA products and services are OK, some suck. Same with just about any company.
And RTFA doesn't work here. Try the link, Forbes yanked the story.

Yeah, in 1966 they used those on us in first grade for some sort of vaccinations. They hurt like HELL and left a scar..

It's going to take a bad ass mofo of a game, and one that's NOT available on any other platform.
Make it so attractive, so kick-ass, so awesome and so LINUX that they will flock to it.
Don't let it out for M$ and don't copy a M$ or console game.

I personally own a Rolm CBX II 9000 w/PhoneMail system and buttloads of RolmPhones.. Plenty of pix, http://www.systemrecycler.com/rolm
Yes, it's my personal property..
Sure, but for home, SOHO and small businesses, it's damn good and it's free...
If you need more then by all means, do more...

Did anyone else besides me notice that "Cliff" posed the question, "DVD Authoring Under Linux?"
and NOT
DVD Authoring Under Windows?
or
DVD Authoring Under Mac?
JFCOAPS!! All the Mac and M$ suggestions are really helpful to the Mac and M$ users but the poor dude needs an answer for Linux..
We now return you to your regularly scheduled troll...

Yes, they can. One well placed MOAB at AOLHQ will cleanse the planet of the AOLWMM (Weapons of Mass Mailing) problem...

Aureal density explained.
a high aureal density is those dark nipples and
a low aureal density is those bright pink nipples.
Right?

Sorry, can't RTFA. It's either been /.'ed or they pulled it but it's not there to be read.
As for FUD, well, does CA acknowledge the licenses or did they wipe their asses with them?
If they acknowledge them as legit then they are guilty, if they use them for TP then they are OK..
