  1. What it really means on Official - Bungie Departing Microsoft · · Score: 0

When MS bought Bungie it was so they could have a title to sell their xbox. That worked pretty well. Bungie always made awesome games and were more unique and styled than others of the same genre. What this gave Bungie was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and the ability that after they made the xbox for MS they could go back to doing what they love doing. Make really great games their way as an independent company. It was win/win/loose (Mac users got screwed on Halo).

  2. Re:Not surprising. on Return of the Vinyl Album · · Score: 0

If you really enjoying nuances and subtleties in music and recording you'll prefer vinyl. I know there are things on half-mastered records which do no show up on CD's. It's really just an argument of convince vs quality.

Kinda moot to create a game based of bringing peace to the galaxy.

  8. as well as on Using Enzymes To Counter Cancer Growth · · Score: -1

This news fails to be breakthrough as it's been around the science community for a while. Why does /. even bother with this sub-heading?

  9. eh? on Cringely's Shameless Self-Promotion · · Score: -1

Calling this selfless self promotion is like validating that MS 'had' to spend 1 million in the first week of Win 95 on advertising.

  10. blah on How Much Does Your Work Depend on the Internet? · · Score: -1

    100%, when I loose a connection I can't do anything.

  11. how about me? on Canadian Music Stars Fight Against DRM · · Score: -1

As an indie music maker I'm stuck paying fees for record companies to make indie music (they call it a tax to recover lost sales?) Kudos to Canadian artists for standing up for musicians!

  15. Why do people even use non-Apple products? on First Picture of new Motorola iTunes Phone? · · Score: -1, Troll

With OS X I can't see why someone would want an inferiror product that is more aggrivating to use. But then I can't relate to eating at McDonalds either.

  16. why do people even bother on Teaser Trailer for 'Cars'; Info on 'Polar Express' · · Score: -1, Troll

  18. why do you care? on Software Piracy Due to Expensive Hardware, Says Ballmer · · Score: 1, Insightful

Steve Balmer has nothing intelligent to say. Who keeps getting his quotes, from where?!?! are they actually getting them from, and why or how is this slashdot news? I come here to read news posts that are interesting. Not soap opera media attacks.

  19. and he's right on Alan Kay Decries the State of Computing · · Score: 0

The computer industry sucks. There is no creativity, there is no R&D anymore. Last I looked there were two HD manufacturers and everyone just bought their innards and slapped their sticker on the unit. People persecute you for the OS you do or don't use. It's a sick industry where rabid theiving dogs with no care but thier own wallet are heralded as kings and made the richest men in America. Good thing I'm graduating in August to join them =)

  20. The Matrix [take your pick which one] on The Best and Worst Movies of 2003? · · Score: 0

People don't realize IT'S JUST A SCI FI MOVIE. It's not that great or impressive. To all those people who use 'Neo' as a handle Get a grip! The second one was so bad I didn't bother with the third. Best: D'uh! I haven't even seen RoTK but I can't put my vote anywhere else.

  21. manga succeeds? on Why Does Manga Succeed Where American Comics Fail? · · Score: 1

This is like saying McDonalds succeeds where pubs fail. Pubs serve better food, alcohol, and have hot waitresses. Mcdonalds servers bad food and have 'uneducated' clients.

  22. stupidest idea ever on Tampering with Taste Buds for Better Coffee? · · Score: 2, Interesting

so now there will be no reason for good tasting food. rather we'll be stuck with shitty pre-packaged food like KD, McDonalds, etc and it will taste good. This food will be/is full of so much chemicals cancer will be hitting people before puberty. The french (France not french Canadians) eat 30% more fat and have 40% less heart disease (G&M article) because they don't eat crappy food. Europe has a much higher food quality than NA does.

  23. Re:Action speaks louder than words and a question on Music and the Internet Reprise · · Score: 1

    > There is enough bitching about the music industry > here to make me want to puke. Did you honestly expect anything different? I'm not defending either side of the argument (your both right in your points) but what did you think people would do?

  24. what do fugazi and tony alva have in common on Music and the Internet Reprise · · Score: 1

rather than work for a record company and get them rich artists should be doing it themselves. that way they make the music. like bum records http://homepage.mac.com/mlkrakowski/popisdead/bumr ecords.html record companies are just getting rich off artists. they serve no other purpose. I don't care if people download my music, it would be nice so i can keep doing it, so long as a record company doesn't steal the song or song idea or lyrics and make millions off it. and when there's money to be made someone with more will beat you to it.

  25. the abnormal finally got us to mediocrity on Building a Dead Silent PC · · Score: 1

so it took a large amount of effort from some pc users to make a machine that comes close to being as quiet as a Mac. Does anyone else think it's stupid this is not the norm? i hate listening to machines. a computer should not need 6 fans (props to my gaming friends sic) and sound like they go to 11. they should be dead quiet and very cool and very stable. not saying mine fulfils that...
