Many distros may not. Any distro that is running telnet by default or any of the clear text authentication based services are never a good idea. Installing for example an old version of Redhat or Mandrake would not be very secure. The same could be said for Solaris or Irix. Now, I believe that niether of them enable telnet and provide SSH as an alternative. The other things are simple like do not allow remote root logins may be disabled.
I'm running the current 2.4.x release that Gentoo has and I tried with the preemptive kernel options, but it only seemed to break a lot of modules. Even deleting the modules folder and rebuilding caused many of the modules to fail on startup saying that it could not find the preempt function (something like that)make clean / make mrproper didn't help either so I'll wait to 2.6 is gold before messing with it again.
Yeah but where I'm working at the moment, they happen to be the coffee vendor for our Cafeteria. Where am I working? Think of that other washington based company.:P
Just wanted to express my sympathies to the family and friends of those who lost their lives. To quote President Reagan when he spoke to the nation about the Challenger shuttle explosion, "The future doesn't belong to the faint-hearted; it belongs to the brave."
IBM has nothing to loose. Unlike SCO, IBM execs don't all collectively cream their pants when the company's stock jumps 25 cents for 1 day. IBM is so diverse, they don't need SCO's approval for anything.
I've worked at a place before where most people don't have internet access, but they have Internet Kiosks around the building which people can use when they are at lunch or on their break. Seemed like a good enough idea, but since I was in IT, it didn't apply to me. I already had internet access.
Remember, IBM as a company has made their money by keeping their "i"s dotted and their "t"s crossed.
A former boss of mine was a retired IBMer. He used to give us handwriting "lessons". He kept a master copy of his own handwriting with all letters and numbers written. If he didn't like the way we filled out paperwork, we'd get a sheet in our inbox. So "i"s dotted and "t"s crossed is right on the mark.
"My power bill was FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS last month."
And yet Gray complains that a recall election would cost Califonia 65 million dollars. That's like 1 can of Red Bull per person? Sure if I lived in California, I'd give up 1 Red Bull to recall someone who screwed me over like that.
I think they should push the city of Santa Cruz to take legal action against SCO to either get a new name or declare the new meaning of SCO, Shitty Caldera Organization.
What kind of company is this? Don't people take care of their crap? If it had been any place I worked, you'd have had to buy the company a new one. It seems strange to give people rotating cell phones when alpha-pagers would have done the job and cheaper.

There are several Air Force bases in Florida, I wonder how they expect to get those taxed?

Wrong coast!

When's the last time you went to starbucks? Their whole bean coffee is about 15$ a bag around here.
Funny, the site linked in the previous slashdot article that was linked from this one is slashdotted!
But the "FA" says $1000 per gflop not $100
Did you RTFA?
After successfully cracking the system, she is immediately arrested.

She is deathly afraid of storms and sometimes as early as two days in advance she will begin running around shaking and acting erratic.

Not personally but I've read some stuff about it.

How did you disable IE? (Seriously; this isn't a troll.)
You can use the system policy editor. You can disable almost any standard component in windows, including shutdown, the start menu etc..
Cool, fiber optics up to 7 inches long! That'll be effective! I can finally connect my computer to... uhh... to my uhh... what the hell, 7 inches!
Bluetooth watch out!

With all that background radiation, who's gonna notice a few leaks?
Next thing you know, we'll have Martians with 2 eyes, 10 fingers, 10 toes, two legs, two nostrils and one mouth!
That's a new one on me. Would someone who is wise in the ways of the force explain?
And ouvert = open is just a coincidence, this was named after a babylonian godess.
Which as they said is the Goddess of "Open Windows" . Now where's my copy of SunOS 4.0?
Funny that a movie that 99% of people would pronouce "Jiggly" is about Jennifer Lopez, who happens to have a "Gigli" booty.
