    how do you keep the database from being polluted with good domains, that would be the first thing organized spammers would do to make the database useless and untrustworthy.

    Fedora is unstable testbed material for RedHat to use folk as guinea pigs, certainly not suitable for corporate use. Fine for personal web server use or perhaps coloc OS for small business that have geeks with time on their hands, if the occasional kinks and hiccups aren't too annoying.

    RedHat did cheat people out of their money as GP poster has said. Why do business with a company that cheats people? Why call a legitimate complaint about such a thing "emotional baggage"?

    You are right that RedHat gave the little guy the shaft a while back. However, for big biz you answered your own question, RedHat does provide responsive support and datacenter-level management tools (however good or bad) to big business that pays RedHat the big bucks. Ubuntu does not. So most Big biz won't touch Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Slackware, etc.etc.; they won't matter to big biz

    compare average lifespan of european to that of a century ago, then two centuries ago, then three. Thus far the benefits to individual are outweighing the negative consequences of pollution, poiosons and even antibiotics. That may be changing as we speak, as super-resistant strains of bacteria have been found in hospitals (though it's worth noting those germs have been a problem for hospitals for over two hundred years.) Anyway, we actually know what to do to make things better now as far as poisoning ourselves and the world, question is will we do it?

    those nuclear weapons that N. Koran has and that Iran is developing are very small, they will have essentially zero effect on world population. An interesting thing about nuclear fuel, you can tell where it came from, even after an explosive fission event. After a weapon supplied by N.K or Iran gets used once in a terrorist operation, there will not be a N.K. or Iran. I feel sorry for anyone within a thousand miles of their borders after such a thing.

    you gotta be kidding, there's all kinds of problems reading across word processors, at my company we get plenty of unreadable documents from our government clients using Wordperfect and other non-MS stuff. We've had to install old versions of other software just to cut and paste. For legal documents, this is not acceptable, an open document specification is long overdue.

    oh yeah, forget about the wee little bit about SCO not sending 100% of the $24M it collected from Microsoft and Sun to Novell so Novell could then do their usual thing of sending 5% back to SCO (since SCO obviously doesn't own Unix with this arrangement). So that brings up the criminal matter of embezzlement on the part of SCO's executives. They should begin gastrointestinal egress dilation excercises for when they get an all expense paid vacation in the steel and concrete suite with no view and a randy roomate.

    if you've noticed, the SEC is much like the auditor's mindset, going in after a battle and bayonetting the dead. If the courts find SCO's claims to be bogus, and then Novell and IBM destroy what's left with their countersuits, and then the stockholders get pissed and sue, then the SEC will wake up and start doing something.

    IBM and Novell have already filed countersuits, and those are for amounts that will more than destory anything that's left of SCO. Then there will be fun of all the shareholders realizing that Darl and other executives lied about what SCO owned. This will go on for years and get very ugly, I can't wait 8D

    of course, it's a rather trivial matter to alter an image or movie file to obtain a different md5 or other checksum sum while visually appearing the same.
