non fiction as in Bowling for Columbine ?
I think your argument is valid for technical articles that are objective in nature. For subjective analysis of other non fiction topics, books/other media are still the king.

Check out the indian government website for Employment Visa if interested. http://indiagov.org/consular/visa_gui de.htm
from that website: These are the requirements for an Employment Visa
EMPLOYMENT VISA: An appointment letter, contract letter, applicant's resume and proof that the organization is registered in India are required. Duration of visa would depend on the period of the contract.
This article is essentially a troll - its about someone whose job was outsourced, who joined Anti-H1B in the US, who had asked "someone" for a job in india and got turned down. I can understand the difficulty someone can go through while hunting for jobs, but it cant be an excuse for posting false info.

May i recommed that you contact the nearest indian embassy and find out about the Employment Visa as found on the indian government webpage.
I am sure there is a provision. While living in india i have seen many foreigners, mostly russian working in the nuclear facilities at BARC. It shouldnt be more difficult than it is to receive work permit in the US.
You'd think after two decades of working at Sun, they could've found a better picture!
Cmon, we bad looking geeks take pride in our bad pictures. Its something like having a lot of cables under the table, messy desktop etc. That picture must make Joy proud.
except that they are grading essays for english compositions and the criteria for scoring might vary from test to test.
For example, in the GRE (one of the tests that is governed by the ETS, developers of the software) one can expect to get away with some gramatical errors and manage a score of 5/6. But major gramatical flaws will not get you beyond 4/6 however convincing/insightful your essay may be. Beyond a point poor english/composition does affect how the reader interprets the information, and only seems fair to be part of the essay assesments.

While I agree that Mono does exist as an alternative, even if at an early stage of development, it would require some serious funding from microsoft to be considered as a standard framework for critical applications. Do you think Microsoft would invest that money for its development ? If they ever did have a real intention in making.NET platform independent, they could have done it as they were building it from scratch..NET itself is an efforts to provide an alternative to J2EE which can keep people on windows.

My friend at work from china is a PS2 freak and was mentioning how most of his favourite games are japanese and arent even available here. It seems like China, japan and (south) korea share a common font and any game made in japan enjoys a huge market within those countries.
By making an OS together, they could probably build one from scratch with their native language support without English as the intermediary anywhere in the processes.
If microsoft at some point was requested by the DOJ to keep track of all their emails, why would anyone in microsoft communicate sensitive information via email ?
If they havnt done in the past, such communication today probably happens via something like their corporate instant messenger.
now can they make a bigger version, for us kids at slashdot ? We dont mind her not willing to say *certain* words as long as she understands what it means.
Here are two more i have noticed that do the exact same thing: 1. Admuncher http://www.admuncher.com/ 2. Evidence Eliminator http://www.evidence-eliminator.com/
I found a quick (& better)replacement for Admuncher in the new google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) to get rid of popups.
Evidence eliminator is crap, dont need a replacement.
In either of these cases they take you to a page showing your IP address with what they think is a scary message. If you do use a cracked version make sure your windows installation does not carry your Original Name / Location and that your IP address is dynamic.
Troll alert, the google toolbar comes with a nice disclaimer explaining that ONLY if you OPT to use services such as a page rank, it will send back information to Google. You have a CHOICE not to activate those services during installation.

I was a big Keen fan ! I agree that it wasnt ground breaking for a role playing game (that title would probably go for Prince of Persia released earlier on), it was the first game to be released as a sharware giving people the opportunity to try out the first part before buying the entire game. The fancy demos that you see today started off based on that concept.
You bring up a good point. While homeless people != terrorists I think it can be safely assumed that terrorists are usually homeless people - nomadic in the sense that they dont have any registered place of stay. This could ultimately be a plan to keep track of illegal imigrants/ possible suspects without stepping into the subject of racial profiling. Such a database would atleast be helpful in getting rid of false positives in investigations.
Their webmail (hotmail) has always been there - definitely not a replacement. I just see a company taking down a free product that has given them nothing but a bad reputation for security.

think of the jobs that this will bring back. Its the 90s again, company car & stock options for HTML people!
which begs the question, is anyone ever going to update their internet explorers to criple the plugin functionality that exists today ? I think Not.
