i didn't look at the site linked in the article, because it was/.ed with only 5 comments posted, with no google cache, as i'd said earlier:P
i do agree that the band looks uncomfy. I agree with the other person who replied to your post, if it plugged into a usb receptor that would be awesome.
It's a really cool idea...i think i should get one. Thinkgeek has a nice one. Anyone also notice that the page is/.ed with like 5 comments? i went looking for the google cache and it's empty for that page.
and the Thinkgeek watch's USB cable tucks neatly into its wristband.
A simple solution, at least for FPS games, would be to have invisible bots in every server, that don't shoot, don't get in anyone's way, and don't pick up weapons, health, etc...
This way regular players won't have any idea the invisibots are there. However, if a cheater should happen to have one in his field of view, his aimbot will take over and frag the poor unsuspecting invisibot.
If a player frags an invisibot, they get kicked.
It's not totally foolproof, but it seems to make sense. at least for aimbot cheats.
is frustrate people. for long things like email addresses and URL's it's very handy, but for such short things like search queries it will just get very annoying very fast. I never see search strings over 10 words/50 chars.
I'm in concurrence with DNS-and-BIND....there's plenty in the movies section i like, and that's relevant and fun and interesting...
but Hollywood Gossip is something better left to the tabloids than a site whose motto is "News for nerds, Stuff that matters".
I didn't see, in the story, Toby Macguire overclock anything, pour hot grits on natalie portman, go to soviet russia, do anything having to do with the size of a volkswagen bug or Library of Congress, or even run Linux.
I do patch my OS and i reboot afterwards, but it never really bothers me as i usually let it do this while i'm in the shower or eating or something. I've seen Finder hang if you don't unmount your SMB shares on other networks, but it is usually just a delay, not an honest-to-god *hang* like the windows-style "hangs". It just takes it a second to think, then remove the share icons from the desktop.
WHY in GOD'S name do i need to shut down anything?
I never even shut down my apple notebook. I just close the lid and let it sleep. When i open it back up it comes back just like it had been in screen saver, only with relatively little (almost no) power consumption.
And as far as XP, low boot times are good...if you have an os that needs to be rebooted every 10 minutes:)
Don't forget, this is only 3.1 arcminutes^2 of the sky. that's the size of a grain of sand held at arms-length against the sky, according to the article. That leaves a ton of sky still unseen.
A 30-06 rifle is better than a soup spoon and a butterknife.
What about protection from criminals? The police, as much as i like them, can't be everywhere all the time. I like knowing that if i had to, i could defend myself from attack.
You're right. one of my favorite quotes is "when * is illegal, only outlaws will have *". In fact, i remember a quote that shows someone looking over his shoulder saying "When alcohol is illegal only outlaws will have alcohol? what kind of nonsense is that?"
Guns are a good example of this philosophy, as if they were outlawed law abiding citizens would be defenseless and the only people who had them would be criminals. Don't take this as advocacy for making all currently illegal drugs legal though.
If i say it shouldn't be outlawed, people get pissed. if i say it SHOULD be outlawed, people get pissed...what am i supposed to do?:P
Guess i'll just say "you want cigs or weed, go ahead, but it's not my problem."
what part of "i don't smoke marijuana" didn't you understand?
I don't abuse any drugs, and quite frankly i believe they should both be illegal. Of the 2, however, marijuana is the less immediately and directly harmful.
If you want to be taken seriously, maybe you shouldn't post AC.
Isn't being connected to the Internet all the time sort of... creepy?
Just because you have a connection doesn't mean you have to be using it actively. Computers are nice because they have a, what's the word for it? Oh yeah, OFF button.
Those Escher Lego Pictures from a while back.
:)
Escher's work is damn cool.
i looked at the thinkgeek watch

can't forget barstools :)
except i almost did. thanks!
besides the lawnmower races mentioned by someone else (i've actually seen these on tv, they're pretty funny), people also race:
Tractors
Shopping carts (motorized)
golf carts
rubber band/spool racers
people, especially americans, will race damn near anything.

It must be that i'm never seriously utilizing the network when it happens, i just have the share mounted "in case" i want to pull something from it.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

For Star or Entertainment or People or the other 3000 tabloids and mindless mass-market celebrity magazines to cover.
Give us a story on overclocking or something.

Just as i suspected. I *am* out of the loop. oh well. *fidgets with his Zaurus*
iPaQ addons are CompactFlash...
:)
unless i'm way out of the loop

Don't forget the whole NT 4 support fiasco.
Apple Forever!! W00t!!!

I can see their theme song now...
Little Tubes, big adventures, Nan-nan-Nantero!!
Well said. :) however, there are positive effects to water and sunlight in moderation. I can think of no real positive effects of smoke in any amount.
*actually* i don't smoke either.
Knowing that smoke inhalation kills most of the people who die in house fires, i find it hard to believe people would do it on purpose.
No, i won't quote statistics for that statement.
or buy about 100 square miles of property. 2 miles wide by 50 miles long, specifically :)

Note to self, "Interesting" means "flamebait". Got it.
Seriously, both drugs *should* be illegal.
I just think anyone who deliberately inhales smoke into their lungs is an idiot.
