i didn't look at the site linked in the article, because it was /.ed with only 5 comments posted, with no google cache, as i'd said earlier :P

i do agree that the band looks uncomfy. I agree with the other person who replied to your post, if it plugged into a usb receptor that would be awesome.

    rubber band/spool racers

people, especially americans, will race damn near anything.

and the Thinkgeek watch's USB cable tucks neatly into its wristband.

  6. A simple solution? on Cheating in Multiplayer Games · · Score: 3, Interesting

A simple solution, at least for FPS games, would be to have invisible bots in every server, that don't shoot, don't get in anyone's way, and don't pick up weapons, health, etc...

This way regular players won't have any idea the invisibots are there. However, if a cheater should happen to have one in his field of view, his aimbot will take over and frag the poor unsuspecting invisibot.

If a player frags an invisibot, they get kicked.

It's not totally foolproof, but it seems to make sense. at least for aimbot cheats.

I didn't see, in the story, Toby Macguire overclock anything, pour hot grits on natalie portman, go to soviet russia, do anything having to do with the size of a volkswagen bug or Library of Congress, or even run Linux.

I do patch my OS and i reboot afterwards, but it never really bothers me as i usually let it do this while i'm in the shower or eating or something. I've seen Finder hang if you don't unmount your SMB shares on other networks, but it is usually just a delay, not an honest-to-god *hang* like the windows-style "hangs". It just takes it a second to think, then remove the share icons from the desktop.

Guns are a good example of this philosophy, as if they were outlawed law abiding citizens would be defenseless and the only people who had them would be criminals. Don't take this as advocacy for making all currently illegal drugs legal though.
