Well, they already have my draft number, what else would they need?
Maybe the government could use the "dwindling numbers" to shrink down the military, since we don't really need a standing army that's larger than the rest of the world combined.... Who else here thinks the US should go back to its original philosophy of not having a big standing army, since that's one of the reasons it declared and fought for independance from the British?
Actually, it's much worse than that for MS. Bill Gates calling Open Source advocates "Communists" more than negates the miniscule props they get for their one Open Source project.
You make it sound like being a communist is a horrible thing. Mind you, I'm not a communist, but it has just as much merrit as calling liberals living in the United States "Un-American." Anyone else upset at how the word "liberal" has now become "naughty?" Now when people hear the term "Liberal Arts", they think it's left-wing, rather than any of the other possible definitions.
[Batman's Suit] waterproof, bulletproof, knife-proof and temperature-regulating
Wrong, it's bullet resistent. They even say so in the movie, that it probably won't stop bullets head-on. So forget about taking on snipers with.50cal rifles with that suit.
...but the HD-DVD camp argues that lower manufacturing costs make for a cheaper, more consumer-friendly product."
Don't they realize, once these things get mass-produced, they won't cost what they cost now? And in the long-run (in technology, so about 5-10 years), I wouldn't imagine Blueray costing much more that current DVD's do now....
Blueray has a 50GB capacity right now, while HD-DVD has 30GB. If they both add x number of layers on top of the disk, Blueray will still hold more data than HD-DVD, using basic algebra. Come on, think: 50*X > 30*X as long as X>0. As long as one wins out globally, though, I think it will be okay. I would get pretty upset if Europe used one while America used the other....
That could be done by networking simulations of many children together, simultaneously.
You know, networking has been around much longer than computers.
I'm very happy that I'm not living in a virtual reality (that I know of....) If generations grew up in virtual realities such as the Matrix, what benefits would they have over the actual reality? In the movie, if you died in the Matrix, you died in reality. Of course, most of us/.'ers would figure out how to fly like Superman and stop any object we wish that is being projected toward us, but then we'd all become very disappointed once the real reality smacks us in our faces.
lawmakers voted 238-187 to block the part of the anti-terrorism law that allows the government to investigate the reading habits of terror suspects.
God forbid they seek a warrant...
No, AppleWorks doesn't have half the features of word. Then again, do you use half the features of Word ? It occupies that niche for folks who aren't going to pay for Office. It's $79 new, and though I doubt they sell a lot of copies that way, it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than Office.
And if I weren't a student, I would get Star Office for the same price. Fortunately, I am a student, so I can legally download SO for free.
Yay! Now the two titans we all hate can collide and kill each other off! MPAA vs. Microsoft!!!
And the winners? Bittorrent users, because the MPAA will see more money from going after MS, rather than poor kids that use Bittorrent!
I get pissed off whenever I hear "pleaded," rathern than "pled." Honestly, I didn't "runned," I "ran...."
Please also note the location of the quotation marks in respect to the commas.
the psp can store your own videos on it without anything extra other than enough space. and thats out of the box, not requiring some obscure piece of hardware from half a world away.
For all I'm concerned about, both the PSP and the GBA are obscure pieces of hardware from half a world away. In fact, possibly 1, maybe even 2 worlds away....
Honestly, what could reading the disk do differently when you copy a CD as opposed to playing a CD? Worst-case scenario, you make an image of the CD before you burn it. Either that, or you hook up a cd player to your Line In jack. Anywho, if disks like this actually come out, I'm sure the Open Source community will find a way around it.
...not the actual PSU, according to the article. The first thing they mention (which, ligically, should be the most important, unless they were saving the best for last) is the box that the PSU comes in: This power supply unit certainly comes in the most interesting box I ever saw for any power supply unit. It is not a simple box, it is actually a simple but also a very handy toolbox that you can use after removing the contents for any use that you like. It can be used for storing and organizing your everyday tools for your house and car or even things like fishing equipment. Quite an interesting and innovative thought from Hiper. More on this later
Granted, the announcement is that it's running on Linux, which is great, but the actual presentation isn't anything new. We've had presentations very similar to this in Minneapolis for quite a while now. I preferred having the 2-d maps instead of the 3-d mostly because the weathermen seem to think the view looking north-west is much better than looking either absolute-north or magnetic-north.... If they could just rotate the bloody view to some sort of north, rather than north-west or north-east, then I could see better potential for it...
I've seen the new style, and I've watched with interest as the rain moves across the landscape. Yes, it still says anything could happen;) But it says it with greater accuracy.
Computers are becoming autility, not a luxury, and stupid inconsistencies like this should be ironed out.
It's a pity, it really is. Honestly, I'm in the school-of-thought here that if people don't know how to use a computer, they shouldn't use them. When you start driving a car, you take courses, and then you must pass an exam. Something as basic (and impractical) as this would help fight the virus and spyware problem so much....
But honestly, isn't it depressing when people don't know how to do anything without a computer? Ask any teenager how to find any information for a paper, and they'll be lost. Ask them how to find a book in a library, and they'll be clueless.... It's for reasons like those, that I'd prefer that computers were less prevalent in society.

If MS hasn't set up Windows to do that automatically as part of the updating system....
You know what that means! Look out, Gentoo users! We can portage from X86 to Cell! Woohoo!!!

A: I do

Wow, if you can walk, let alone drive, with a BAC of .8, all the power to you.
The states tried to protect their rights in 1861, and lost. After that, it was only a matter of time, really.
I'd rather just give the F.U. to the FCC, and proceed with science....
Just thought an example would suffice:_ radar_MN.jpg

Damn!
The metric system is the tool of the Devil! My car gets fourty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I like it!

Uh, which wire? I don't see a wire of fire....
I just voided your post.
