    I am personally disheartened at this. I was rooting for the Japanese to have a successful Mars mission.
    I am glad to see that they can possibly still use it for solar monitoring. As of now, if SOHO goes down, we have no solar monitoring from space.
    Good luck to Japan in finding a use for NOZOMI.

    I don't think this thing exists.
    The pictures look very much like 3D renders.
    I'd like to see video of someone riding on one.
    Notice how Bombardier's website talks about it in future tense. Also, the details are very light.

    Some consider the ability to recognize faces in humans as a priori knowledge, that is, knowledge without any prior experience. Apparently, our genes hardwire our brains to know what a face is, even before we ever experience one. I think that is so fascinating. Could it be possible to genetically engineer a human to be born with more knowledge?

    They don't go underwater to fix these cables. A boat follows the cable, pulling it up at one end of the boat, and dropping it down at the other. From what I understand, if a big storm or the like happens, they have to drop it and start over.

    I recently saw this movie and really enjoyed it.
    The anime was a little weak, but kind of an interesting style, and the English VO was kind of blah
    I think it would have been better if Katsuhiro Otomo had also directed it.

    I live in Washington State and was laid off a year ago.

    While browsing through the job listings at the local Worksource. I noticed several innocuous seeming jobs at the local military base. Things like 'Trumpet Player' and 'Kitchen Manager' Well to my suprise, the only requirement was that you ENLIST IN THE MILITARY I can just see some poor horn player getting shipped out to IRAQ for a year!!!
