Its not a pretty and easy GUI like excel, but it is going to be no more difficult to implement than SAS (and since the language is less archaic, it might be more intuitive) and it is free. There is a large community to provide support to get quick answers from other people who are just "dabblers". Due to the cost of running SAS, almost all of the support online is written by and for people who use it daily and as such may not feel as accessible to a newbie as the R community.

Maybe some bastardized gui tool like sas enterprise guide could solve the problems of the user as well...and I always hear about packages like Tableau which might do what they want...but R is quite functional and completely free.

Something like "what song is this playing:" would then pull up shazam and ID the song even though I didn't remember that shazam was the app I downloaded with that feature.

Similarily, it could save you from digging through buried options. Being able to tell it "remind me to buy XYZ when I walk past a drug store" is probably a lot faster than navigating who knows how many menus to set this with your fingers (I imagine it is something like setting an event with a lot of options which can be a pain since every box has some slider or dropdown menu or requires you to enter some text before it autocompletes). Its not going to save me any time checking the current radar picture since that app is already on my home screen and doesn't require data entry (and is much less functional when held to my ear to give voice commands since it is something I need to see)...but for certain tasks, voice could be effective.

Just to make your story even worse...

Did you know that zipcodes do not accurately represent areas? We typically think of a zipcode as a shape like a city/county/state for ease of use, but they are actually references to postal routes. The USPS does *not* maintain actual boundaries (since they don't think of them as areas) but rather as lists of current streets and addresses included in a zip--the actual boundaries can and frequently do change/divide/drift and there area areas of the country that don't have official zip codes since they don't have mail delivery (largely national parks, but other areas as well).

A lovely wrinkle for taxation is that zipcodes are not constrained to county borders. How do you figure out if someone is in county A if their address only has zip (nobody ever asks for county and cities can overlap) and the zip code straddles counties A and B? Now you have to geocode their address that tells you whether this particular house # is far enough down the street to have moved into county B where you don't have to charge another 1% on clothing.

Whether or not you agree with a 17 year old taking nude photos of themselves being a felony-worthy offence, someone who gets caught doing it after being in court for it twice before has only themselves to blame. The law is on the books and actively enforced, so until that law is changed you had better follow the damn thing (and I wouldn't suggest risking sex offender status and a felony in order to try your luck at getting the supreme court to change the law).

Programs like that cost big money and a majority of the pirates would never ever pay for them--how many teenagers pirated modeling software (how may 15 year olds have hundreds or thousands of dollars for a software license) and honed their skills making cool shit and later got jobs that worked with paid versions of those programs.
