The Article is completely FUD. I've written a thingie which sits between winsock and apps, redirecting them through socks5 proxy transparently using Layered Service Provider API. So I traced a little bit what IE do. Let me ensure you - IE uses standard winsock functions with ordinary parameters as any app do. No conspiracy here. Probably author of the article had some experimental features of windows tcp/ip stack turned on, or just had lame sniffer. Where are at least packet logs to prove the point ? Seems very doubtful to me.
