    Personally, my girlfriend and I sleep next to two athlons, and a few other machines in the closet. I think all he needs is to replace that power supply fan with the quietest case fan he can find. I did this and it works great.

    I highly suggest you read the book How To Win Friends and Influence People . I don't have time to write a review, but there are a couple at the Amazon page. Basically, this book will teach you how to lead people and get them to do what you would like them to do.

    Actually, cp does (at least GNU cp). From the man page:
    -R, -r, --recursive
    copy directories recursively

    I don't think even incompetent managers get T3 lines to look "cool" when several T1 will do. ;-) Yeah, but real managers would just get a partial T3 to enjoy the simpler routing, lower-latency bandwidth, and reduced collisions (this is because each packet going down the pipe uses less time... thereby reducing the chance of a collision).

    Some have commented on how $30K may be too much money, but I don't see it that way. It's a question of how many organizations (especially businesses) are using old Mandrake versions. If 500 such businesses contribute $60 each, they ensure security updates continue. Considering how much it would cost to do an upgrade (in labor costs, especially) and even a couple of hundred dollars is not out of the question.

    Why not start up a consultancy to do just that? If your numbers are good, you could make quite a bit.
