I've done this under linux, say get a 2-6GB drive and use it as dedicated swap. I tend to do this with scsi servers when I'm patching together old gear. Say an 18GB root drive and then the smaller drive as dedicated swap. leaves everything open. And if the swap drive does get thrashed, no big deal. It's quite effective and works well in my experience.
Well, the problem with that is that Microsoft would then be selling below cost in order to undercut competition and hold onto marketshare. However, how can one undercut *free*? And also, I'd think that lowering their prices would constitute and act that would get them classified as a monopoly...again. So it would have to be a last-ditch effort, that might fail anyway.
It sounds to me like you're particularly biased. I've been shopping at Ikea for several years now, and have yet to have an item there fall apart on me. I do dislike them, based on "Fight Club" and the fact that shopping there feels like walking through the intestines of a great corporate furnishing beast. However, I have no complaints with their construction.
I went "legit" middle of last year and deleted all the music I had downloaded off the internet(somewhere around 20GBs of tunes). Since then, I've been buying up all the songs that I really thought were worth it to have. I'm in high school at the moment and not too large a budget, however, I've been able to find everything I want at none too expensive prices. I love the small record shops, there's this store in the village calle "heartbeat" and their prices are phenomenal in addition to having some really eclectic tunes. I'm still going to continue to buy albums, I am pure mac, however, I don't use the iTMS. The CD itself is more important, and it's only a few bucks more most of the time.
I'm a senior in high school at the moment, and I see a lot of kids who have become disgusted with misspellings and abbreviations. They make it a point to be sure that correct grammar and spelling is utilised, whether online or in the real world. There is a backlash against IM idiocy. However, grammar is still poor, as most kids are not taught the rules of the english language, I'm learning more about sentence construction in my German class than I have in English over the past 13 years.
okay, the suggestion that because the OSS community isn't portrayed as a nice and friendly group of folks and therefore we shouldn't read the article annoys me. If open source is to appeal to everybody and their mother, shouldn't they community learn what it is other people think of it? Because an article portrays the community in a negative light, it's different, and I think that it might behoove the community to learn why people dislike open source and whether or not htere is a good reason
I know that all the tibook and albook 15" are the same. If apple or somebody would sell an aftermarket fuelcell battery pack or charger I know I'd snap it up in a moment. Always be nice to have a backup in case you need to keep working.
the problem with using 2.5" drives for user customised machines is that EVERY machine has to be exactly the same as next one. Well, not exactly, cpu and ram can be different. However, Motherboard, video card, whatever peripherals, sound cards (if any) would need to be exactly the same as win2k and unix do not take so kindly to hardware chaning on them from one bootup to another. what may work is a FAT32 home partition on the unix boxen which will just pop up as another drive on the 2k boxen. just my thoughts on the matter.
I dislike trolling (as I assume this post will be modded) however, the misspelling of the word "definitely" has begun to irk me greatly. As a high school student who sometimes has to view the writing of my peers, I have to lower my expected standards. But when I go to read/. I'd assume that The-ones-who-post-stories-from-on-high might be able to spell check their commentary. Thank you for listening to my grammar rant.
I've tended to use Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries in my cdplayers and my archos jukebox and they seem to be middle of the road. No memory (or unnoticeable) in high draw devices and they tend to be cheap. I'd assume that Li-Ion are the best to use as that is what my iPod and creative nomad are using at the moment. I've also seen that Li-Ion is what many cameras use in addition to a myriad other devices I haven't listed. NiMH is your best bet for not too long of a useage and a middling to low price range. LI-Ion for longer useage and higher prices.
My Computer repair class last year switched to linux my behest and because my instructor wanted to anyways. we setup VMWare and a win2k install on all of our machines as a stepping stone, throughout the year, people stopped using windows as much, as they had to start IT up from inside linux and that was "too much of a hassle" to lazy high school kids. However, they did start using linux more and more, and ultimately the b3ecame more proficient. So I believe Munich is using these VMware installs to allow their workers to be able to go back to a familiar enviroment while they learn the new one and how it functions
I've never understood the relevance of such silly patent battles. If they've let ebay and all hte rest of these auction sites get away with patent infringement thus far, why are they finally deciding to "stand up and defend our IP"?
I received a newton messagepad120 as a gift for chrsitmas a few years ago, it's large, it's bulky, but I love the handwriting recognition. I use it all the time to read edgar rice burroughs books and other things, I also take notes for my classes and play lunar lander on it. and the best part is that since the newton "died" a few years ago, all the software is free for the most part, and so much is available out there, it's lovely.
I'm a high school student taking a computer repair class at my school, we are currently running linux and windows under vmware on linux. I spear-headed this movement and my teacher supported me fully, we are now in the process of teaching all of the students in the class how to use linux. I think that using linux is great, students are learning that they have a choice in which operating system goes on their computer

but enough about me, about my career....
I certainly think a nice cup of chai with milk and sugar surpasses any brew of earl gray. *now incites flame war of what is the best tea*

and if this contaminated soil and water and non-biomass happened to be coming from space, how many VW bugs is that?
is anybody else reminded of Zodiac? This may turn out to be that bad of a fiasco if rushed. I can only hope for the best.

I've been waiting for a legit solution for so long, I'm so glad they finally decided that it was worthwhile to produce one that is not hacked together
