Will it save the franchise?
Depends, if by save you mean will it reinvigorate it from a story point of view, probably not. I dont think GL really cares as much about preserving the canon as he does with creating new stories that in his mind were all part of the great mythos he created back in the early 70's.
IF by save you mean it will allow toy manufacturers to offer a slew of crap in time for the holidays, then yeah it will save the franchise and maybe just maybe baby Jabba will teach the world to love.
Personally I want to see George remake American Graffitti within the SW universe. He could set it on Tatooine just prior to the events in episode 4. We could Luke work out some teenage angst with his friends during a crazy night cruising around Mos Eisly, and Toshi Station.
Im betting part of the reason a screen is used for the arrow is because somewhere in the decision making process a director said that led green arrow that runs via switch doesn't look high tech enough. His yes men immediately agreed, and money was wasted.
I've seen this happen, I work in a library on a big 10 campus and we cant get the "sign committee" to agree on anything. Some want flashy LCDs other want to keep the old pressed on letters behind glass from the 30s.
My annoyances should have been prefaced properly, these stemm from having to support a few traveling users, and a couple of in house users who were allowed to buy brands that my small dept did not approve.
The biggest issue i have with the login alteration is having to field the question nearly every time my users travel.
Once I figured out the moves I adapted, and got everything where it needed to go, it was/is just a pain to have to hunt a bit.
Other than that I really dont mind Vista - I do think its a big piggish in hardware needs, especially for basic office machines.
1. The classic login is gone - No more drop down allowing you to choose local or domain login
2. The spreading around of data that was generally kept in Documents and Settings
Thankfully I only have a limited number of machines to support, and my work is not going to migrate to Vista for the foreseable future.
I RTFA'd, and saw no mention of the physical condiditon of the box when he picked it up. If it was a bad box, or torn shrink wrap I'd ask the employee to hang on and open it in front of the employee to confirm its contents.
Not to be cynical, but I'm betting he got a return that had been hastily rewrapped instore, and restocked by an employee who helped a buddy out by returning the "harddrive", so said buddy could get the HD and still make rent or buy a game.
I saw a movie that had moisturefarmers in it once.
It looked like a hard scrabble existence.
This farmer seemed to be pretty haggard, he needed droids, he needed more human hands helping to control the droids, and his nephew was no help, all he wanted to do was waste time with his friends.
And to top it all off he bought some droids off the back of a truck, which of course belonged to someone else, and this brought the goverment into the picture....
In a time before the wife and kids I used to bartend, and bounce.
You have to be outgoing, but if you are in a college town, it can be "rewarding".

I knew this sounded familiar - its the plot of a Beverly Hillbillies episode from September 1970.

Jed: This fellow's gonna drill a tunnel through the San Bernardino Mountains, put in a great big fan, and draw all the smog out of Los Angeles.
Drysdale: Why, that's a preposterous idea.
Jed: Yeah. We like it too. (edit)
Good episode
I loved Sky Captain, and this feels like its cut from the same cloth.
Hopefully it does well, and spurs more crazy alternative history films.

Im shocked that there may be resellers who are less than reputable!

How gamers will finance thier next game purchase when you can't sell the used one at the local shop?
Does anyone know if the movies are the altered "family friendly" versions of real versions?

This car is basically a diesel-electric. This technology was pioneered 103-ish years ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel-electric.
I do hope that GM has a better 3 cylinder engine that the one used in early model Geo Metros.
Now all we have to do is locate and turn on the alien machine, to melt the glacier, that will make Mars habitable.

Its a fine electric go-cart, but its not practical.
Why not unveil a semi affordable commuter car that can take 4 adults 100 miles.
