Who cares about a phone that plays iTunes? That's what your iPod is for. I want my Cell phone to be able to synchronize my phone book with Apple's Address book. Its such a pain to enter all of my contacts manually into the phone.
And if they do address book they might as well throw iCal synchronization in there too so I can see my calendar on my phone. Though the Address Book Synch would be more useful.
And - of course - the interface to my PowerBook should be Bluetooth.
Microsoft - Make crappy insecure software and sell it. Make security software to make crappy software slightly more secure and sell it.
IBM - Make crappy software and sell it. (Exceptions to the crappy rule - DB2, AIX) Sell support for your software.
They sound pretty similar except that IBM sells support along with its software. It would be better for IBM to try to make better products so they would have to support them less. Where with the new Microsoft model it would do them better to make more insecure software so they can sell more security software.
60 GB would still get chewed up pretty fast with movies - especially DVD rips.
Uncompresesed DVDs are usually about 7 GB each and DVDs compressed into AVI are usually about 700 MB to 1 GB.
Sure, you can have all of your favorite movies on your movie Pod or whatever, but it will be a while before you can carry your whole DVD library around with you like we can carry our whole music library around today.
IBM can't find the source code for one of their products? They must be lying! . . . or are they?
I have been working with IBM Content Management products for about 3 years now as a Sys-Admin / Programmer.
On occasion I'm in Awe of IBM. The abilities they have to produce huge enterprise applications in a short amount of time is amazing.
But usually I'm in Awe of IBM in a negative light
There have been several times that IBM couldn't come up with the binaries for some of their fixpack levels of some of their products., let alone the source code. The developers were like . . . uh . . . we don't have that code any more.
Oh yeah? Where did it go?
The fact that they can't come up with the source code for some parts of their AIX OS does seem suspicious but comes as no shock to me.
Hummers have ben around for a long long time and its not until recently Hummner got this rep
Yes, hummers have been around for a long time. But, the H1 costs around $100 K - it is an unatainable vehicle for most. The H2, starting around $50 is a more realistic vehicle - and is appearing in many more middle class driveways than the H1 has. This is why they are getting more attention lately.
This is USA, if people want to drive an H2 then do it, if you want to drive a Insight do it . . .
I agree 100 percent. However, those that choose to drive a Hummer, Yukon, Excursion, what have you ARE being insensitive to the enviornment. And they ARE more of a threat to others on the road and they ARE supporting the mideast by using an excessive amount of gasoline.
This, being America, gives me my right to point this out.
The decisions that people make, such as which vehicle to drive, do effect other people's lives. To me, those that choose to drive a large SUV are making a decision that negatively effects my life. Even though I respect their decision to drive that kind of vehicle I let my thoughts on the issue be known.
Any time is fair to slam Hummers, Yukons, Ford Expeditions and the like
They are fuel hogs. The increased consumption of gasoline increases our dependency on foreign powers and further pollutes the earth.
They are dangerous to other drivers. With their gargantuous mass and high bumpers, they will do much more harm in a collision than a reasonably sized vehicle.
This in turn makes people think theat if they too buy a larger vehicle they might stand a chance in an accident - furthuring my first point about fuel consumption.
Paypal sends me emails with links to update my credit card information after it has expired.
yes, I know they are legit
though, I never follow the links, I do browse to the site just in case.
I was a little angry at paypal for doing this because the fact that legitimate companies DO send emails with links, the average joe or jane lets down their defences to actual phish emails.
This sucks for me because my girlfriend and family are non-geek persons and I have to explain to them to never NEVER follow links from emails because of this reason and they probably think I'm some kind of paranoid freak because of it.
What graphical design software is run on the Macs? Is it something they can't run on Windows?
I'm curious as to why even bother with the Macs if all they are going to get is eMacs.
Say, for example, the school wanted to teach people Photoshop. Photoshop runs awesome on a Powermac. Way better than your average PC. But everything runs slowly on an eMac. And if you can run photoshop on an average ole Dell faster, and for chaper . . . Why not?
these may be implemented already somewhere but here goes:
1) say the user goes to the onion or gamespot a lot (that's me) and if I hit the refresh button right away the advertisement page goes away. if firefox noticed I did that all the time, it might ask me if I want to refresh right away always on that domain to save me the hassle.
1.5) apply the above idea to watch for user behavior on various domains / pages. automate repetitive tasks
2) catalogue what data users enter in what form controls. When a control with that same name comes up automatically populate the control. (text box, drop down etc.) give users the option to exclude control names and edit the values which are recorded
3) Automatically email website administrators bitchy letters when they design web pages that are incompatible with firefox because they were designed for IE.
I didn't say quit. I said refuse to work excessive hours. getting fired may be a consequence of this. Getting fired makes you elligible for free money from the government (in the US) whereas quitting does not.
during this free money period you can go find yourself a job that does not make you work 80 hours a week.
A real NES obsessed collector (such as myself) collects NES games, not GBA reissues of NES Games. However, we will purchase a few of our favorites in the GBA format to take with us on the road.
Myself, I bought the Super Mario one, and might get Donkey Kong.
Though, at half the price I would probably buy them all.
Thanks!

Type "CVS" in the Box - Click Search
Select all the stuff that you want to delete and hit the delete key.
Though . . . The unix find command is much faster than the pile of a search program that comes with Windows.

I have a pretty good G4 powerbook now - it keeps up well with most apps - but anything real processor intensive it kinda bogs down.
BTW I'm jealous of your Dualie G5. Must . . resist . . urge . . . to purchase.

Hardly economic elite.
You can't update your iCal calendar from the web.
You can update your address book on your mac or on the .Mac site - then next time you run iSync they are both synchronized - this is nice.
iCal can only be updated on your mac and exported or automatically broadcast to the web - where it is limited in its use as a read-only calendar.
My guess is that HP is thinking that people will "throw in an HP iPod" when making an HP computer purchase.
Go DVD +R9!
Web based client/server software is still software. Just as easy to pirate as ever.

Graphics problems with your eMachine already?
disclaimer: I'm not really a jerk
I like iCal a lot better than the outlook calendar
Just because you never got one doesn't mean it doesn't occur.
I have a credit card on file at paypal.
When the credit card expired, PayPal sent me an email WITH A LINK ON IT for me to click to go to their site and update my credit card information.

If you own and want to play those games. You would need that many systems.
Personally I own all of the above mentioned Nintendo Systems, the PS2, a nice Gaming PC and I have an XBox on order?
Why? Because I like video games. And there are some games that you can't get on other systems, or they just aren't as good.
Work much with very large projects? Run complex filters?
I'm curious as to why even bother with the Macs if all they are going to get is eMacs.

Are you kidding?
What about all the security patches?
