I just wired a new office building. Let me tell you why with the minimal cost difference that you put in CAT5e. In 3-5 years Voice over IP will be popular. Now what are you going to use all the CAT3 cableing for? This way you can have 2 network jacks in every cube.
"Some of the functions will require two or more computers connected either by WiFi or ethernet"
What self respecting Tivo owner has less than two computers?
I am willing to bet some/.ers have more computers than dates in the past 6 months.
And I thought AMD's drew a lot of power to run. Imagine what kind of power supply you will need to power this through the USB.
1000 watt power supplies here we come.
How is that an effective way to check? As a network admin I have 12 Linux servers and a Windows machine as my workstation. Guess which one racks up all the web stats on Google.
Keep in mind most Linux machines are servers and most people don't browse the internet with their servers.
Why does everyone complain when they are expect to actually do work at work. They are not paying you to keep the seat warm.
On another point I say two can play at that game. You want me to work every second I am at work that's fine. But when that clock hits 5:00 I drop everything and leave.
I would be more interested in stats on a webserver that took a puke. It would be interesting to see what started the dominos falling and what ultimatly brought it down. It would be as good a learning experiance as this article is.
I was just thinking of how they could plan on it leaking to track the leaker. Now the word become was spelled "ecome". What if they wrote a program to misspell one work incrementally to each person? So the first person would have the first word spelled wrong and the second would have the second word spelled wrong. See which word is spelled wrong (because you know they would want to make fun of it being wrong instead of fixing it) and then you have the source of the leak.
How many people will use this as a portable OS. When they need to use a computer and only Windows is around, they will slip in the card and boot for a useful OS.
You can access any of that you want. You can't however sell, distribute, or give away what you access. I can take my computer, rip out the CPU and spend a year mapping the layout. I have done nothing illegal. If I sell it or publish it the internet then I have broken the law. You own what you own and unless you SIGNED a waiver to say you were not going to do this you are free to do what you want with YOUR stuff.
You know looking at your list, the ultrafxp, mirc, and serv-u are a bit tip off that Office, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver are warez copies.
That wasn't Kate Winslet. It was Rachel Weisz. Much more beautiful.
I was just thinking that yesterday while installing Exchange on my Red Hat server.
As long as MasterCard is still working.
What kind of geek are you?
Geek code 101: You are supposed to make things like this out of Legos.

Thanks for the link to Slashdot or I may have never found it.

As opposed to SSH??
Or for the Windows haters, IIS

What's with the DoubleClick link? Are we not even bothering to have the illusion that the stories are really ads in disguise?
I see Sony is buying ad space on here now.

Does anyone see the irony if the encryption key was broken by a cluster of X-boxes.

Lik Sang could sell the backup devices again. It's nice to have 10 games on one cart. Makes packing for a trip easy.

Nah..... This is Microsoft we are talking about.

I guess that the notice is inforceable. I will have to start putting a notice that says

"i went from a newbie on there to one of the most helpful and knowledgable posters"
A little full of ourselves aren't we?
