I have Beta tested the past 2 years. Nice way to get free games way ahead of time.:) I always send a list of all games I have Beta tested, send stats on both systems (AMD2000) & (AMD800), and what I could add to the input on the game play. That way I get a better chance testing. They do want older systems and newer systems testing their games. Most of the times they want the top of the line systems, but sometimes the older systems will catch their eye. My friend only has a (AMD1000) and was accepted everytime against my (AMD2200).
I'm a weirdo because I play a female character in UT. I choose the female player, because they are smaller and harder to hit or see than the big large male character.
....I mean the rules are so hardcore. It seems a lot harder than most of people throwing out post have even thought about. Seems like some serious $hit dealing more with precision than anything else. You will have to fork out the money for good parts. I wouldnt go cheap on anything if you intended on winning. 250 miles and only 1 possible spot to fix/fuel your vehicle (where anything you might need to do so, has to be at that checkpoint before the race). There will be an unkown amount of waypoints that have to be hit. Some of the waypoints won't even be marked. the 180 degree cameras or equipment, better all be 360 degrees. You will be riding along beside your Autonomous Ground Vehicle, so it better know how to act with another vehicle operating around it at all times. Nothing can touch the Autonomous Ground Vehicle during the race, or any other teams Autonomous Ground Vehicle.
section 8 in the rules, pretty much sums up the questions about the vehicle.
section 8.4 notes about being able to put the vehicle in neutral from outside. (If your vehicle flips and hits this lever, button, etc.., how will it engage back into gear? You cant touch it, so your f*cked!)
section 8.5.2 "The wireless E-Stop capability must be implemented in a way that ensures that the Challenge Vehicle will stop when it is not visible from the Safety Vehicle for greater than three seconds." (better make sure your safety vehicle can keep up)
section 8.6 The 12-14VDC, 10A.... (why???)
section 12.3 notes that there will be speed limits in certain areas of the course. WTF?! I only have 6 hours to make a Million and I have to go slow in certain areas. BS!
This should be called mission impossible!
I agree on the CK5 Blazer. They have a lot of room inside the vehicle and its engine bay. They have nice clearance. They aren't that hard to find, and not nearly expensive as a Hummer. If I used a Hummer, It would have to be an army issue Hummer. LOL don't even think about using a Hummer2 for this challenge! You will be ablt to find more parts and modifications for this type of vehicle. They have been around for years. Hummers have been around for a while also, but working on the Blazer would be a whole lot easier. Sorry for ranting, but there are a ton of factors that make this a real challenge and most of the rules seem so debateable!
True. I was just saying that anybody can have easy access to a machine used by a
-lawman
-police investigator
-NSA
-FBI
-CIA employee
-National Park ranger
I have 2 friends that work in the fields mentioned above. I have even helped them install programs, games, updates, etc on their machines in their office.
As an Ebay user, 200 request a month for personal information seems high to me.
I could have a buddy that works at the police department. If I visit him frequently, nobody would see a problem with me saying he is expecting me and I will just wait in his office. While he is at lunch, I could use his fax machine and request the information of anybody I want.
Yeah he gained access to 2.2 million cards, but to bad they are all probably overdrawn! Just about everybody I know complains that their cards are maxed out.:D
I also agree, that out of 2.2 million cards, it's impossible for them to know that all of them are ok and haven't been used.
Take a pen or pencil and put it long-ways in your mouth. Now go to a faucet or water fountain and try to take a sip of water for about 5 seconds. Your hiccups will be gone.
When I was in high school, my French teacher would shake a jar with change in it at you. She would give you some money for each time you hiccupped. Of course in front of a whole classroom of people, you hated to hiccup in the first place. Nobody ever hiccupped after she started to shake that jar.
So, IMO there could be a scientific explaination, or it could be all in your head!?!?
I really don't have a problem with the heat from my computer, but more with the 19" monitor. A 19" monitor with my 36" tv in the same room is where all the heat issues start. Now if they could cool down the monitors and tvs, I think I would be ok.
As for the noise issues, I used to have a Dragon Orb fan for the cpu, but I could hear it on the other side of the house. Dr. Thermal cpu fans get the job done and I can sleep with the computer on now.
Also, desk manufactures need to get into the loop on the heat issues. They make nice desk, but give you a small spot for you to jam a computer case in. They need to make the space a little larger and precut/drill a couple of holes for ventalation fans. I have fixed a few computers that overheated because of this problem.
Before you die, you have to worry about all the bad things you did in your life. Now I can look at my backup and ask for forgivness on everything bad.:-)
I hope they don't forget to add my spank bank memories!
They are saving money from dropping the Windows software! They can use old a$$ computers and they dont have to worry about software purchases/licenses.
They are taking on programming jobs from the US, and now they are switching to Linux OS. By ditching the Windows OS they are saving tons of money. Looks like they are boosting their economy with all these changes. I think it is a smart move.
I agree with you, but I also think they should link users to free programs to help them get started protecting their machines. Instead of just pointing out the flaw in their systems, tell them a handfull of programs they could use and cost of purchase for such programs. It would at least make the article seem helpful instead of just revealing the security flaw.
"The movies just don't get it," Melton says. "A spy wants the fewest gadgets possible. Because being caught with a gadget is a death warrant.... There is no real-world counterpart to a car that shoots with machine guns." Real spies carry as little technology as possible, and draw as little attention to themselves as possible -- hardly 007's style. "The world of James Bond is fiction. Bond wouldn't last 4 minutes as a real spy."
Like I want to watch a guy running around with microcamera and a pen copying machine stealing important documents and taking photos for 1.5 hours.
Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you are still retarded.
Thanks to you, I think I will use this in my sig.
to $129, I wonder how much more money they will lose? I'm sure Bill is regretting that he jumped into the console industry. I wish Bill would continue investing huge chunks of money into other ideas, and one day lose all his money?
Personally, I advocate abstaining from purchasing any video card for the sole reason of playing one game.
It's not just an excuse to buy the new 9700 for just this game. Future games will also need the support of more powerful video cards. It's really more a reason to go out and buy the the card you look at everytime you go into the store. I have picked up that box and read the specs on that card a few times now. There is nothing wrong buying the latest equipment even if the ads are whored around everywhere. I mean people lease cars just to have the latest cars, but they lose all the money they pay in monthly on the lease vehicle that they give up for the next model. It's not like you can't sale your old car to somebody else.
X set up takes weeks, MBR gets overwritten for some reason
I also think you are having major video issues. Check your error log. It takes me a little over 20 minutes to install RedHat 8.0 and Apache 2.0.4 on an AMD 1700XP, 64MV Video card, 256mb DDR mem, 20gig 7200 rpm hd. PM me if you need any help:D
...is a game that prevents people from wiping bugers on the dang wall. Now, that would nice.

I'd block EVERYTHING with or without a Trojan!

myself the score of every Super Bowl, World Series, and World Cup. Man I'd be rich as hell! Just like Marty McFly thought of in B2TF part 2. :)

Man if you are the jackass that keeps posting with the 7th grade comments cursing, then go get some Midol. I'm sure it would work on you!

Oh $hit! Somebody call Capcom and introduce the "LoTR VS Star Wars" idea. It will be in the arcades shortly after. :-)
