    this is why i always 'lock' my computer at work when ever i'm not actively using it. I cringe when I see all the terminals people have walked away from wide open and unattended.

    hell the funny thing is it's habit I lock my PC at home when getting up for a minute.

    I appologize to Slashdot and to the "Shift Key" for any Confusion on my part.... again my bad.

    in a pinch caps lock might work as a "ANY" key???

    Notice the capital "N" at the start of this sentence. When actually writing something, the caps lock key is quite useful indeed. Most people (maybe not on slashdot) but in the real world most people use their computers for writing documents and whatnot and Caps Lock is indeed most usefull for these things.

    Maybe the University really didn't know what was up until the end... then they would go 'back' and look at his earlier work finding not only was he cheating 'now' he had been cheating 'then'.

    I think they would have booted him earlier if the knew earlier. Also even if they did, intentionally wait and let the kid go almost all the way thru, I don't feel badly for him at all. I remember all these type of "lazy bastards" in college who didn't want to do the work, and wanted to plagiarize or get other people to do their homework for them.

    Personally I think it is awesome anytime one of these cheating jerkoff's gets caught and pays the price, I worked all thru school, studied to 4AM more days then I care to remember, my friends wouldn't see me for 'weeks' leading up to mid terms. In short I worked my ass off for my degree and I do not appreciate it when some lazy bitches try to 'cheat' and get their degrees without putting in the required effort.

    a M$ usb gamepad a soldering gun and some wood
    and time.
    you just solder onto the sidewinder pcb.. so that your pc thinks it's a sidewinder but the buttons and joysticks are old skool arcade ones.

    I use FireFox as my main browser, and I'm hopefully that the current strategy continues, I like having the basics in the main distribution. certainly you can add additional pluggins as the need arises, but I'd rather not get a bunch of crap I don't need right out of the box.

    Before I will install apps like this, I always take a look at google and see what I come up with looking for the appName + adware. I loathe (as 98% of the rest of ya'll?) adware/spyware/malware..so I really would need a very good reason to install programs with adware.

    If you have a "valid" corp key for you no Activation corp copy of XP.

    as soon (or slightly before if memory serves?) their was a number of work arounds for the 'keys' m$ disabled with SP1,

    I have a large number of 'friends' running XP pro with corp 'keys' and all have been able to use windows update without much difficulty.. other than changing keys for SP1 but no biggie.

    of course for the slightly less 'advanced' warez copy users out there they may have difficulties.

    As long as all the people in China and other SE Asian countries refuse / can't afford to pay M$ prices for software 'fixes' for m$ anti piracy efforts seem likely to presist. M$ can 'raise the bar' for how much work it is to successfully pirate and then update their os .... but I doubt they can stop it totally.

    I had a b1tch of a time getting 3d working on my radeon 9500 with redhat. and I had to accept the fact that the drivers were not GPL, it sucked.
    Something that would really help is if people were assured they relatively new 3d cards would actually have good (easy to obtain / install) drivers so we can play the games available under linux.
