already.... having recently quit a call center job.
it's bad enough as it is... clueless jerks calling in, monitoring of calls (subjective..monitoring by QA teams) Computer Monitoring... stupid conflicting targets (i.e. Help customers make sure everything they need is taken care or.... oh yeah but do it all within 4minutes..)
now some stupid software could be sitting about telling me that i'm not freaking excited enough about it.
god i quit not a momment to soon.... fuck it i say send all the call center jobs to India.
ads everywere and on everything needs to stops.
consumers need to not buy a game that is going to serve as a "advertising" outlet. let a couple games try this and flop and hopefully they will give up.
between crap like this, lousy buggy game play, copy protection that makes it nearly impossible to install games i have actually bought... I may just stop playing games altogether.
I statrted playing computer games cause i found it fun and relaxing... lately i have found it stressfull and annoying.
BF2 is possibley one of the buggiest POS games ever unleashed on the hapless game consumer.. but i digress
i've had a number of Nvidia cards (TNT, GF2, GF3ti200)
then I decided to try ATI got a Saphire 9500 had some driver difficulties and video corruption on boot up sometimes.
I got a 9600AIW PRO, and it was pretty good except the guide plus software ati supplies with it SUCKS and MMC likes to look up the whole computer by crashing now and again. after about 11mos the AIW 's TV tuner apparently decided to die on me, so I had to RMA it... ATI got me a replacement pretty quickly. but it was a pain).
I got a 6800GT awhile ago... and MAN what a great card I really like it.
the fan on my gf3ti200 (which is in my DC died a little while ago.. but it was like 3? years old. I got a little Vantec replacement GPU cooler and was good to go.
but since both of the two ATI cards I have bought have caused difficulties to some extent I'm reluctant to buy ATI again.
I applaud these people for trying to limit the vunerablity of there systems and for all, but my understanding is the more layers of security you have the better off you are.
updated servers/systems/applications
security policies
auditing
firewalls
if one thing breaksdown (patch gets delayed being deployed) i'd rather have something to serve as a 2nd line of defense than not?
I like computers as much as the next nerd... well pretty well and all. but I have absolutely no desire to have one implanted in me ever...
maybe a little R2 like robot that followed me about and did my bidding but never anything implated in me...
I actually kinda like getting out and leaving my laptop at the office... so maybe i don't like computers as much as the next nerd?
WOW... and in other news, it's ok to make a fire... as long as you don't make it out of your neighbor's house.
However seriously what on TV is worth recording??? My g/f has us set up w/ the mondo cable package at 99.8% of the stuff on TV is just crap. The only thing I went out of my way to watch in the last 6mos was the Battlestar Galactica a series.
3ware needs to develop new chips for their SATA raid controllers they are using ATA bridges on these SATA controllers and of course the controller chips are several years old now.
I wish... I would have known that some people really do get addicted to teh drugs and alcohol.
I wish I would have been strong enough to say no to them and focus on more constructive things.
and I wish I could have warned my friend, not to drive home from that one party....... sorry I would have fucking told ya'll to chill if I had seen you trying to drive
While certainly I'm all for finding aliens (especially if they are female and hot?).
but when these distributed computing apps run they tend to max out your processor thus using pretty much as much power as possible at all times... and generating as much heat as possible as well (prescott owners might want to note this in particular as the prescott is a nuclear reactor of a chip to start with)
next will need a distributed computing project to find more power to run the distributed computing projects!!

Actually for the pr0n lefthandedness is pretty helpful since almost all of us use righthanded mice.
