all those poor ISP's shouldn't have sold me and everyone else Broadband internet connections with marketing that suggested we would be able to stream high quality music and videos and get d/l music files...etc
if they didn't have the infastructure to support it.
the ISP's just want google and yourtube to pay for their poor business model / marketing.
for years and fucking years this (much video/audio content) is what everyone said the interent was moving towards....now when it starts getting here... the ISP's suddenly realize they have not built the infastructure to support it?

but i'm not entirely sure what IBM was doing before for Linux in general
does this annoucement mean it will be harder/not possible to to get my new thinkpad working correctly with various linux distro's... does it mean it will just take longer for the linux commuity to get the new thinkpads working w/ linux??
i.e. was ibm actively contributing to Linux to help ensure their (ibm) hardware worked w/ linux...or were they just saying...yeah we like linux..and if you want will sell you thinkpads w/ linux loaded.
actually when your trying to start a pirate political party DoSing teh police may not hurt at all really... plus does anyone seriously suggest that the operators of TPB actually launched the DoS attack???
it's like saying Linus launched one of the many DoS attacks on SCO in the past...(well maybe not that extreme...) but i'd be F%#%'ing amazed if anyone from TPB had anything to do with the DoS.
this made me go read the terms and conditions of my cable internet service.

Assuming that is correct... would it really be "wrong" for the buyer to utilize the contents of the drive to his choosing????

ummm..... you do realize they make firefox for windows too right =p
Well.... you should be making money getting people to sign up for Internet access from your pipes (paying various amounts for given service speed levels).
I mean fucking BILLIONS of dollars have been made by people making business deals on the phone.... are you saying the phone company is somehow entitled to a percentage of real estate deals made on the telephone???
I call bullshite on you, and you have ignored the main point of his argument... the service providers have been shielded from prosecution for illegal content crossing their (your) networks by their status as common carriers.
if ISP's are going to adopt this new model and decided what content gets to whom, and at what speed, well then sir they (ISP's) are no longer "common carriers" and could and fucking well should be criminally liable for illegal content crossing their networks.
If ISP can't make money by providing the pipe to the customers, then they are not very smart.... And honestly since all the broadband providers touted all the "streaming"..blah blah heavy load traffic to sell their product w/out actually having the infrastructure is their fucking problem... and they shouldn't be allowed to destroy the very basic foundation the internet was built upon to cover up their mistaken business model.

was it because qwest alone was smart enough to realize it would be a litigation disaster / public relations nightmare if it came out that they had given the gov the records without a court order???
i have to wonder how verizon, AT&T and BellSouth could have been stupid enough to volentarily agree to give their customers info to the gov without a court order?
I'm amazed that the legal depts for these companies could not see the nightmare senario and demand the the gov obtain court orders to get the info.... or who knows maybe the legal depts did try to stop them and the boards of these companies overrode them?
fucking madness either way.... i wonder what else the gov is upto that we are as yet unaware of....mind kinda boggles...
THINK PATRIOTIC THOUGHTS THEY COULD BE READING YOUR MIND????
you'd best not be planning to go to a LAN or move your computer much for anyreason with that thing installed...because unlike some external watercooling kits, It does not seem to have any quick disconnects at the PCI slot hose entry points.
thus it looks like you'd have to remove the thing before you could transport the PC anyhere...
and i'm not trying to flamebait or anything... and I don't overclock... so maybe that's part of the reason why... but even these watercooling in a box kits...seem like more trouble than they are worth.
I think i'd always be too afraid of leaks to use one of them?
but i'd have to step foot into a wallmart....which i'd never do!!!!
additionally i'm willing to guess that the Wallmart employees will make the guys at compUSA look like NASA scientists if you actually had a question?
considering how well some of the online suppliers do at getting me what i want at a very good price (newegg/ mwave /..etc) i'll be in no big hurry to wade thru the chubby walmart customrs to get a motherboard and proc.
