I think you're wrong this time. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the PS2 that comes out significantly later than Spring 2006, with the earlier stated date intended to stop customers buying the xbox. If you'd done any research you'd know that Xbox360 is more or less confirmed for November launch, the PS3 on the other hand wasn't supposed to come out till late in 2006.

not so. I was a hardcore pc fps gamer before Halo came out and I was very impressed with it. I did not think that the single-player game was the best fps ever, but it certainly was up there. In fact I think that it's the people who have played a lot of fps's who are most able to recognize what makes Halo great. Halo gets the feel right. The story is window dressing, but what makes an fps IMO (especially when taken into the multiplayer realm), is feel. Halo nails this. Playing Halo multiplayer has been as fun for me as any PC game I've played.

well you are entitled to your opinion. But you should be weary of being nostalgic for less effective technology. I honestly can't imagine writing enterprise software procedurally. OO is way cool man. I've been kind of surprised by all the negative opinion of Java here. I was a C++ programmer up until a year or so ago at which point I got a job in the Java world. I was honestly not excited about it when I started but as time has passed I have become more and more impressed with the language. I suspect that most of the nay sayers probably just don't have that much experience with it. Also Java is more than just a language. The massive framework of open source code around it makes it an incredibly rich environment. From a software engineers point of view, I would venture that Java is probably the most interesting and capable language/community out there (I'm thinking of things like Ant, Maven, Junit, ORM techs like Hibernate and OJB, J2EE, etc) Of course I have just about no experience with .NET so I can't really speak authoratively on the matter.

In fact, in most other school systems it's well documented. I'm surprised that you only just learned of it. Also, most Japanese learn of it sooner or later simply due to the controversy. Speaking of censored and skewed histories, if the Japanese had won the war they probably would mention Nanking in their history books. Well let's see... They have had the performance lead until the 9700 pro.. So basically they have had one non-performance leading generation (Since the Voodoo2 SLI). It's a little early to say they are out of the game. I'm sure ATI doesn't think so. Also factor in price: ATI 9800 Pro(256) ~530$ 9800 Pro(128) ~380$ 9700 Pro(how old is this card again?) still ~300$ 9600 ~150$ (I think) NVIDIA FX5200 ~65$ FX5600 ~125$ FX5900(128) ~245$ FX5950(256) ~445$ I would say that there are still some competitive options from nVidia this generation. Not to take anything away from ATI's accomplishments, nor to deny that nVidia have dropped the ball recently, however it is far too premature to call this race. It still boggles my mind that people are such brand fanatics when it comes to graphics cards.. I guess it's some human instinct to pick a horse and stick with it. We don't have enough problems with religion, race, and nationality. People have to start distinguishing themselves by hardare preference...bummer.

For me at least, this is a pretty clear cut issue. If file sharing programs like Kazaa2 make it impossible to provide a high quality broadband service at a reasonable price, than an ISP can legitimately remove it. Ultimately I believe their customers will thank them for it. Your choice. You can join an ISP which allows P2P, where you get 10K downloads at 5am. Or you can join an ISP where a customer agreement precludes the use of Kazaa2 and performance meets the monicker of 'broadband'. Personally I opt for the second option. Ever since Kazaa2 came out my ISP's service has been severely affected. Now that they have started implementing some blocking, I am back up to the 1-3 MBPs Up and down.... much better than the 200K I was getting before. Ultimately, strong control of bandwidth sharing should allow all ISP user's to use whatever internet service they want without unfairly affecting the bandwidth of others. I actually am surprised that there is that much difficulty in accomplishing this now, apriori it seems like a relatively simple task.
