Since the/. redesign, the number of comments visible at any browse level is very different from what the slider says it should be. It's very evident when you browse at +5, it says that there are five comments, and yet only one is visible.
Same problem on various versions of firefox on WinXP, OS X, and Ubuntu.
Any chance of this being fixed? Is there even a bug on this?
Or have people pretty much given up hope complaining about this? It's a shame, because I always looked to the/. comments for insight into the tech community.
Spock doesn't use a tricorder tablet because it has a million features and CPU to spare. He uses it because it is handy and can connect to the Millenium Falcon when it needs to perform more CPU-intensive calculations.
Wow. I think you managed to cause a stroke in all the Sci-Fi nerds on/. at once.
Are we being set up here? I never heard of Tiger Blood before, and the Wikipedia article was created three days ago. Sounds like someone's trying to play games here...
You can have a four day work week... If you are willing to make 20% less than you do now. There are people willing to do that, and there are people that aren't. The problem is, if you take the 20% pay cut and work 4/7 days, someone else may offer to work that extra 25% and take your job.
Errr... Apple sells a video out cable for the iPad. I bought it. Kinda useless unless you're going on a trip and want to watch TV on the hotel screen, but it does exist.
I set the comment slider to 2.5 (what the heck does that mean, anyway?). At this threshold, I'm supposed to see four comments. Instead, there's only one.
Can someone please fix this?
Yes, I know I'm off topic, but where is this on topic? I'm finding/. less readable with the new style, which breaks the usability of the site. Therefore, I just go to/. less frequently.:-(
Don't know about the poster you are replying to, but I LIKE my Lexus. Not as much as my BMW, but the Lexus is a nice ride for when I want to take the family along somewhere. Don't get me wrong: The Toyota is a nice car, but the added amenities really add a lot to the Toyota body, making it a Lexus.
Different strokes for different folks. Can't we just agree that different things will appeal to different individuals, and that we're better to have more selection to choose from?
I'll give you that ALL Apple products are overpriced, when compared to other manufacturers. However, people are paying those prices...
Why don't the other manufacturers hire someone with a reality distortion field. I can't believe Steve Jobs is the only person in the world with one.
Hey. If you really want to switch, want to sell your Macbook Pro to me for $400 + shipping? For that price, you can probably get a new Windows laptop that does everything the Mac Book Pro does.
You get a new laptop and get rid of the apple one you don't want. Sounds like a good deal.
I bought an aluminum macbook during the very small window when it was available. As far as computers go, that's been my smartest decision ever.
The surface is so resistant that when I upgrade, I'll go to a macbook pro just to get the same surface (plus backlit keyboard -- man, I wish I had that).
Interesting. My daughter isn't particularly interested in video games. Bust she's asking for the RB Beatles. Maybe there is a market for add-ons for individual groups inside the application.
Sort of like an in-app purchase to buy albums within RB or GH?
No. Small devices need custom applications and window managers. The OSs can be stripped down versions of the desktop OSs, or something totally different.
Also, you can ask if he has plans for his software on desktop (and server) linux. After all, there's a lot of linux servers facing the internet that need virus protection.
Except that they've already released the code under the GPL. Someone can legally fork the GPL version. This seems to be something they want to prevent.
I think you're missing a big point here.
Apple is no longer a cult. With the growth in their install base, they are a full religion.

Couldn't they just wait 10 days and compare the numbers to Chernobyl then?
Hopefully they'll come out with a companion article/paper in 9 days.

I figured it's just a rolling blackout to save money that, unfortunately, managed to knock out the Internet connection.
Though I had no idea that NASA had a way to visualize the cloud...
Who need brick and mortar sales if your ebook profits are > $500,000 per year on a $0.99 book?
I take that back. Tiger Blood existed before last week. And it's.... a frozen ice syrup????

That's like, two minutes tops. What the hell does Yoda do the other 43 minutes? Shadow puppets?

Playing around with options ( http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dkcwbn2&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&model_id=alienware-m17x ), you can spec one to over $4900.

You'll remember it because it's your favorite color.
How many times have you heard this conversation:
Q: What's you're favorite color?
A: I don't remember.

As a caveat, she's only seven.
I seem to recall that dd-wrt had telnet installed by default. Probably could only be accessed by the LAN, but still seemed somewhat unusual.
Hopefully they've stopped doing that. Anyone know for sure?
Anything a CS major needs to know about linux, he or she should be able to figure out with a few google queries.

Why NOT let the markets decide? Why are Microsoft and Apple putting their fingers on the scales?
Why don't IE and Safari support WebM? Not enough developers?
It can be more fun to fuck insane than fuck sane. You just have to be careful, as fucking insane can be kinda dangerous at times...

I am not a lawyer, BTW.
