The largest N64 Roms were still less than 64megs, and they were also for an existing piece of Hardware that was needed (Doctor V64). The "emulators" of the time could maybe, just maybe, get off a frame every 10 minutes.
Back in the good "old" days (97-98) where emulators started to be very popular, it was common "knowledge" that it was IMPOSSIBLE to emulate the N64 innards, because computers were not powerful enough to _emulate_ the N64 chips.
It wasn't until emulator hackers (the good sense of the word) mastered the techniques of High Level Emulation and Dynamic Recompilation that allowed N64 emus to...well..run:)
Notice that if you bypass HLE and DR in some N64 emulators, emulation will slow down to a crawl (1 FPS maybe!) on your burning hot, 3.06GHZ P4 HT.:)
Aieeeeee! Click on the "wai wai" section and assuming all these stories were true and for real, you will realize that japanese are really hentai just like hentai manga! SCARY!
...with emulation of course:) MESS Website This emulator is based on MAME:
MESS is an emulator; the acronym stands for Multiple Emulator Super System. An emulator in this sense is a computer program that imitates exactly the behavior of another computer or game system, so that its software can be run on systems other than itself. With emulators you can do things like run C64 programs on your PC, Atari 2600 games on your Mac, whatever. MESS' mission is to preserve historical computer programs (mostly games), most of which are no longer sold, so that future generations can enjoy them long after the machines themselves have stopped working. Being able to use them now is just a nice side effect.
I just saw Beyond 2000 on Tech TV...to be honest with you I think the "presentation" is WAY overdone...it does bug me the way they now present their content...makes me want to miss the good old Beyond 2000 of 1985-1990(?).
TridiaVNC is been doing it for years now. It took me a while to figure out how to make the java component to work, with noone to help me (hint: I went to websites that had the component installed and copied their html)
yes but I would like to know the fundamentals...why should I use C#? what is C#? why.net or mono? why is all this technology going to benefit me/the consumer/my employer?
Argh...too many acronyms! Can someone point me to a document (you thought I would say FAQ?:) )
that can explain in THE MOST SIMPLE TERMS, what all those concepts mean?
I am an old school programmer, and would like to know a little bit more about the wonderful world of OO. (ARGH!)
.mac - give them their own damned internet so the rest of us can hear how much prettier, faster and more expensive it is. Pages will only move at 56k speeds, but a special "double-pumped" technology using two phone lines will supposedly make it as quick as DSL.
how did you make 2 AthlonXP 2400+ to work? I have heard about lots of problems with Athlons and mobos on SMP. What is your power supply, memory and mobo? Care to share?:)
Forget the money...now SHE owes you a favor. Call her and DEMAND that she help you find another job. An excellent recomendation goes a long way in the US labor circles, far much more than a degree AND experience to a certain extent! If other people have replied with the same idea, I apologize for the duplication.
By the way, if she doesn't help you, badmouth her. Make sure WHEN you get a new job to tell this little story to your current employer. You just won't believe how far word of mouth can go!
...so I guess the honeymoon's still on! :)

Where can I find CES coverage on the internet?

Perhaps it doesn't use the sun but it may use the "moon" as its power source ;)

"packet dropping" takes a whole new meaning during hunting season...

After 28 years and you had NO option to retire? I would find an attorney if I was you...

Track them down. Let them pay for all the trouble!
...yet let them have a database for tracking down terrorists...
let them have it? since when have we have any say on what the authorities can or can't do?

You mean Shotgun technology? BAM!
What about jpeg2000??? I mean, its 30-500% smaller than a jpg and that allows to show a decent banner for less bandwidth...

This is the other half: foldable display technology
Could you explain to me how fast an Alpha computer is compared to, say, an Athlon or P3?
AMD sure had it right with its decision of making the Athlon Architecture based on the Alpha...to the point that it outlived the Alpha itself...
It's the static...here..a PCS phone...blah blah :)
Avant Browser, With a built in POP-UP killer (blocks ALL pop-ups, good and bad but it's easy to disable it with a click)
...if your brain would only need the capacity of a DVD to back it up :)
Lemme fill in this for you:
Step 3: MARK UP EVERY ITEM YOU SELL BY AT LEAST 30% MORE THAN ANY OTHER PLACE!
Step 4: PROFIT!!!
Yes, it's sad. You mark up the prices, you get profit. Simple as that.
