System runs fine, the only time I have ever had to restart it is due to quicktime breaking it, or to boot into linux. Fresh install of win2k didn't fix it, or reinstall of QT.
...of course, if you don't have their proprietary software, you're screwed...
yeah.. I have to drop my resolution to 800X600 to play any qt video, and restart my box after it is done to get it to function at a normal (microsoft) level afterwards.
more like a 35 year old car, fixed up, with A LOT of work building the engine (not el-cheapo, we used to spend all our free time in the garage). yeah... apples & oranges. Just brought back some memories of highschool and racing/wasting tricked out Hondas. I am an accord owner, I drive it because it is cheaper commuting than a big 10 mpg V8 right now.:)
Give me an example of a 3.0L NA engine that has a better hp/torque ratio than the Accord for the price of an Accord ($ 24k).
Or are you one of those people who cried when GM canceled the Camaro/Firebird... those cars are pathetic.
I donno, but I can get a old mustang for about $2000 and build a 400+ hp n/a engine for about $1000. I bet it would beat any stock Accord for about $21,000 less. (misses days of wasting Hondas with the 400+ hp '67 mustang)
my '88 Accord is more like a sheet metal covered go-cart.
Take a ride in a 2003 STS and tell me there is even a slight resemblance between it and a newer Accord... Accord is more like the Taurus of asian autos (imo).
One of those people who was made fun of on the first day @ the job for holding the paper to the monitor and hitting 'send', actually thought: 'hey I should make that work, just to spite those tech assholes that made fun of me.'
FinalScratch is decent for DJs who don't want to admit that turntable-based mixing is becoming rapidly irrelevant... Instead of spending 75% of your time making sure that beats and bars line up, you take care of it with a couple of mouse clicks, fire-and-forget.
I come from the turtablism side of things.. I wouldn't be caught dead mixing mp3s, plus I actually like to buy the records, so the producer gets his/her cut (quite a few of my friends have 12"s out and are trying to make ends meet off of their music). also the sound quality on vinyl is better than mp3 (imo). as for the matching beats and bars... if it takes 75% of your time, you need a lot more practice.
Certs might help, plus they are pretty easy to get. pick up a CCNA book. should be able to pass the test in a week if you are out of work and can devote a straight week to study. Also some of the (don't hate me) microsoft certs aren't too bad if you are willing to put the time into it. I picked up my A+ (why not?), CCNA, MCP,& MCDBA in about 3 months. I ended up landing an internship that paid quite well, and am still there today. I know I wouldn't have got it w/o the certs.
I understand what you are getting at. W/O min. wage I just see the rich getting way richer, and the poor... broke as fuck. I don't think min. wage is the end all solution, but just dropping it would be chaos.
heh... I would ask the recruiter for their credit history, along with the rest of the employees. When they say no, say I thought so, then walk out with your head held high. (proceed straight to the bar, realizing you had perfect credit and just threw away a descent paying job, which at this time isn't the easiest thing to come across.)
This is their policy, if it is any indication of the work enviorment, don't even bother. (this is my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.)
Yea, minimum wage establishes inflation. That's it.
"Hey, I vote democratic, they just gave me a $0.35/hr raise, they care about me!....Shit, the price of bread just went up, I need another raise..."
I take it you have never worked for min. wage. Bitching about inflation... I lived off of min. wage for a while (got done with school, but couldn't find employment, or afford to relocate) doing SHIT work (cleaning other people's diareah off of bathroom stalls so I could eat). So, the price of bread went up... at least I could afford it. I don't know the stats on the number of min. wage jobs in the country, but I am betting that a good number of those are providing for families, not just some teenager paying for movies and pizza. The ONLY THING min. wage has done for YOU is raise inflation, but for quite a few others out there it is the only way they can put food on the table, other than moving over to welfare (which is an issue I don't even want to touch.)
Yeah it would be great, all of the people surviving on minimum wage get dropped down to $4 an hour. I guess it is better than none at all, I just don't want to be caught in their situation. Think about how many people are trying to make ends meet on min. wage, or close to that. I bet you couldn't live on $4hr/fulltime. That is only $32 a day before taxes.. about $26 after.... now add housing, bills, children into the picture, and hopefully it becomes clear that the minimum wage is around for a reason.
I should also add that a potato gun can be as dangerous, if not more than a normal firearm. Use with caution, or not at all. I have seen someone get hit with a potato and almost die (square in the chest, leaving ~ 10" diameter black/blue mark for quite a while). Also, basic firearms safety is needed. Never look into the chamber to see why it is not igniting, (burning off eyebrows & bangs is not fun). Also hair spray may not be the best fuel as it leaves a residue and has many chemicals, I prefer starting fluid, (don't take my word for it tho). I have never seen/heard of it happening, but make sure you take time in building a spud gun using quality materials because blowing up a PVC pipe in your hands could cause death/serious injury. IMPORTANT: COMBUSTION INSIDE A PVC CHAMBER LEADS TO A SLOW THINNING OF THE CHAMBER WALL, CHECK OFTEN FOR SIGNS OF WEAR, BUILDING A NEW GUN IS CHEAPER THAN GOING TO THE DOCTOR TO HAVE SHARDS OF PVC PULLED OUT OF YOU BODY.

My artillery (back in the day)
D-Cell Battery. (never. never. never! ever aim at a person!!!!!!!) Screwdriver with a couple wraps of duct tape. (same warning as above) Plastic Baseball bat. (easily shot 75 yards, also went through old plywood) enormous spitballs (blew through the wall of the garage, and left 4" bruises)
The last time I got excited about an album that was coming out of the 'Big 5' was probably over 5 years ago. By moving from a base of talent to a base of pop fluff they have screwed themselves over. Record sales are down, look at what they have to offer. Absolute rubbish for the most part. Looking at my cd case here at my desk, 50% are burned, but they are live sets (mostly availible for download for free), or mix cds that I have made, the other 50% are mostly from small labels, or independent artists. I think people are getting sick of the formula that the major labels are using to make money: Find attractive teen boys/girl, hire choreographer, big $$$ producers, make a couple of big $$$ videos for MTV, organize a worldwide tour.... instead of investing time and money into finding new talent, they create it. and people buy into it.
Destroy the recording agencies, and I can guarantee you will destroy quality music. How good do you think that Pink Floyd album of yours would have sounded if it had been recorded in a garage using bicycle spokes and wooden spoons for the synthesized sound? Do you think U2 could charge $75 a ticket if their only exposure had been to the geek music community?
ok... so there was absolutly no quality music before the major labels took hold of the industry???
i need to find out where you get your crack.
ever hear of a type of music called classical? how about bluegrass? jazz? punk?
there is tons of quality music that has been around for a long time and will stay around, even if these labels choak on thier own fat and fall flat on thier face.
if all you are looking for is over-produced fluff I guess you will be out of luck.
exactly. doing a repair the shop estimated @ $1000 for $100, including beer:) , brings me much satisfaction. It is amazing how simple most automotive maintenence is, even if you have to go to the local rental store and get a tool for a day, you will still save money most of the time. plus, knowing the workings of your vehicle can be very handy. Plus once you get the basics down, your friends will start asking you to help them out, this is where it gets fun (free beer+food!!!).
yeah, I keep all my linux boxes behind a windows 98 box with internet connection sharing.
And what about the internet, they use it as a tool in pirating software, they should sue it too!

If this is even half the book Applied Cryptography was, get your checkbook ready.
I donno if the checkbook is a good idea. Probably unmarked bills, nonsequential. Mabey have your grandmother go out and buy it.

how can it be better???
look @ what it does, it actually uses your turntables with timecode records to control the speed/pitch of the music...

I would feel like a tool scooting around on one of those. Not to mention it is expensive, heavy, slow, and ugly.
