We've actually talked about that - not Newgrounds per say, but putting something on youtube and the like. The problem is not knowing a sweet flash animator.
Yes, when you look at the numbers that way, like others have said, that's actually a decent cut per unit moved compared to major label contract. The typical stories you hear nowadays is that the record company is able to work its expenses vs the cash advance to the band in a way where the band ends up not making any money, or worse, in debt to the record company.
More fun with the numbers: At the current rate, we'd need about 850,000 downloads before we could quit our day jobs for a year when you look at it as 7% of downloaders paying $6.80.
It's true. I wouldn't say we've put a whole lot of effort into it. The band members have been promoting it individually on all of the forums and sites we belong to, and of course we've done the obligatory myspace promotion. We did lot of promoting on our local music sites as well. Interestingly enough however, only one of the donors was local. We did have a local CD release concert where we had physical CDs, so perhaps that took care of the local fan base.
This is my only complaint with the orange box so far. I bought a physical copy, yet I need steam to run it. What happens 10 years from now when steam is dead? I love playing my old games from time to time.
I didn't expect a request for.ogg files so soon. They are up now. I'm happy that someone is interested in downloading our music in this format. Pass it on:).
I can sympathize with you in regards to your feelings towards PayPal, however it was a solution we could put together quickly knowing exactly what we were getting into regarding the transaction terms. The band is looking for a possible long term replacement.
Cash payment isn't the only way you can help us out. Passing us on to other people who care for this type of music is considered payment. If you like the tunes, pass them on to your friends.
My small local music scene only band is trying this as an experiment right now. The experiment started last night. We made $11 off of donations in less than 24 hours. That might not seem like a lot, but we went into this figuring it very well could be $0. The funny thing was, all donations so far have come from people outside of our local market. I don't know how many people have downloaded it so far because our host only updates metrics daily.
The servers were overloaded. I tried to purchase a copy around 2pm CST on the day it was released and it took me roughly 2 hours of reattempts to make it to the pay server. The thought did cross my mind to just go snag it off a torrent site because it would have been much easier to get it at that point, but I decided to play a part in the big experiment.
To sum it up: their server could not meet demand when it was released. That may have played at least a partial role in increasing non-paid torrent downloads.
I've got a couple more. Assuming they will fix the FOV in a patch (although the hack works great), here is my simple list of things they should add:
- The ability to walk on the PC
- Ability to turn off respawn.
I agree. If I want the whole disc, buying mp3s isn't too appealing. However, if I want to make that perfect Yacht Rock mix CD, I'd rather buy 15 mp3s all from different albums rather than 15 albums. For single songs, digital downloads are the shiz.

As a poster suggested to me in the last thread about Radiohead, I'm not going to quit my day job.
It's still quite fun.

If they didn't think it was worth their time to correct the numbers, they wouldn't have.

About two weeks ago I installed a NIC driver update off of windows update. Upon reboot I had to reactivate my install.
I know! I'm lovin' it!

Thanks for listening!

See for yourself here.

Just update the graphics, fix the rule loopholes, and give a rip about the userbase etc... That would be a remake I would like to see.

I need a permit to build a fence in my yard (in the US), so I can only extrapolate that legal requirement to landing on the moon.
TRUE, but that statement only holds truth until no one can read BASIC. Go community colleges, go!

of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.
You beat me to it!
Does it run Linux?
How many versions of the Matrix have been released on DVD now? Maybe the double dip factor has something to do with this.
