Using your mobile to help stay in shape is a good idea, but there's really no need to buy a separate phone to do so (unless you want additional hardware functionality, like being able to hook it up to your running shoes).
There are quite a few Java applications out there to do so that work on most new mobile phones, like GymTracker to track workouts and KCal to monitor calorie consumption.
Did anyone else enjoy PC Attack? It was a fairly short-lived gaming magazine from the UK that came out about ten years ago. What was interesting about it was that all its articles were in the form of comic strips, created by taking screenshots of games. I remember it being very funny, more so than PC Accelerator even.
Actually, the funny thing is, my friend did most of the cranking during the testing/construction of the generator, so when it came time for the actual presentation his arm was so sore that the cranking part was left to me.
For a physics assignment last year a friend and I created a hand-cranked generator using an old windshield wiper motor. It worked pretty well: we were able to power a boom box, a Game Boy Advance, a small water pump, a large light, and a few other items.
We were thinking of selling it on the street during the blackout last summer, but decided that its nostalgic value would end up outweighing any monetary compensation we would gain.
I was in Future Shop yesterday since my printer had run out of ink. They wanted $90 for a colour cartridge, and $40 for a black cartridge. Damned if I'm paying $150 (when tax is included) for a small capsule of ink that's going to last me maybe two months...
I ended up buying those do-it-yourself ink kits where they give you a couple of syringes and some containers of ink. It was cheaper, but, clumbsy fool that I am, I ruined my shirt...
My local computer store has password-protected screensavers on all its demo Macs - now I'll be able to surf the web for... ahem... "those" sites... when the store employees aren't looking!

Athlon 3200+ Coming: The Athlon 3200+ with a 400MHz FSB is on the way in the next two weeks, according to C|Net. It'll be interesting to see how well the processor overclocks at that high of a bus speed...it didn't seem to hamper the new 800MHz FSB Pentium 4, which many people were worried about too.

Is it real money... or do they just show your character with a $25,000 cheque and some text that says "You are the winner!" with some cheesy background music?

Asteroids, without a doubt, helped our species survive. What else would have filled the immense void in the arcade hall in the years between Pong and Pac-Man?

Somewhere in Sri Lanka, I presume.
Little known fact: it's possible to buy them in 250K quantities; however, the price then increases to $0.60 each.
My great-grandmother would always say "you should eat your carrots while they're still good for you."
This was, of course, a joke having to do with all those "x food causes y disease" studies that seem to pop up on a weekly basis.
Fortunately, it seems like carrots are still healthy to eat!
Correlation != causation
Clearly, one should recognize that people are smart because they choke under pressure.

So let me get this straight: American IT workers are being replaced by Indians. At the same time, they are being replaced by humanoid robots.
I'm sure glad I decided to become an Indian robot designer instead of a fireman!

This is a great security threat for our nation! Just think of all the plastic explosives terrorists could create with 2.2 million credit cards!
What's with all these top-level domains disappearing? First .name, now .uk.co...
I'm just glad I still have my trusty old .cx domain name.
A Whois Lookup for the .NAME domain can be found here. Apparently common names like john.name aren't even taken.
Oh shit, what am I now going to do with my goatse.name site?
But can it play Tux Racer?

Will there be an opt-in list for those of us who still want to enlarge our penises and make money fast?
A highway to the South Pole?
How many tractors are there, exactly?
it may not be much longer before Google is running on a server the size of a sugar cube
"Hey Johnny, where did the new $100,000 server go?"
"I don't know... I had it right here on the table!"
"Oh shit! I put it in my coffee! That's why it tasted kind of funny."
Since they already have mobile phone concerts, I'm guessing it won't be long until we start seeing NIC orchestras...
Steve Hayman did something like this 11 years ago...
