"In addition to their continuing scientific observations, they are now testing four new skills included in revised flight software uploaded to their onboard computers."
Anyone else read this and think of an RPG? I was half expecting to find the comments filled with demands of nerfing and buffing the new skills.
I ran across a link involving the same jewelry not long ago. In case (read: when) the main site gets slashdotted, or if one just wants to see all products without pagination, you can view them all here: http://www.zellestyle.com/catalog/index.htm
"What a strange review -- first they give us a nice photo comparing the new screen in an iPod to the standard LCD... but the standard iPod example is turned off. There's nothing on the screen we can compare with."
If I'm not mistaken, I think that was partially the point. The iPod with the NCD was off too. Right below the photo in question is written, "The image remains on the display even after power is removed, and does not require a backlight."
.. if this could in any way be related with InterVideo's InstantON technology? It allows you to watch DVDs and listen to music without booting into the actual OS.
"Message queuing is a communication tool that allows applications to reliably interconnect in a distributed environment where one of the applications may or may not be available at any given time. The queue acts as a holding container for messages as they are sent between applications. The applications send messages to and read messages from queues to communicate back and forth. An application writes a message to a queue, which will then be received and processed by another application at some point determined by the receiving application. This type of communication is designed for asynchronous use where the applications involved are not waiting for an immediate response from the other end."
How accurate can you consider the results to be? They're highschool kids. I remember when we had to fill out quizzes for things like this in my highschool (mostly smoking related ones). The idea of the quiz for us was to see who could make the best picture while only filling in dots, who can go the fastest, who can make the best use of the "Do not write in this space" area, and so forth.
Neither does the Altoid tin. Unless they're giving them away for free now?
(On another note, only on Slashdot would a post stating an MP3 player doesn't come with free mints be modded as 'Informative'.)
New York City will be flooded by seawater, the temperature will plunge at a rate of 10 degrees per second, and people will be transformed into ice statues where they stand. Tokyo will be bombarded with killer hailstones! The polar ice caps will MELT. This sounds like the perfect storyline for a really shitty mov-- oh, right..

D'oh! That's just the Register article. My bad!
Did anyone look at the date of the article? Even in the /. snippet it shows that 2005 is not written in present tense.

1. Enter "C# structs" - no suggestions.
2. Enter "structs" - 425,000 results."
Try "c sharp struct" - 101,000 results, very first one is relevant.
Dyslexic users of slashdot, rejoice!
Also, Google Cache.
