Funny, no-one used this argument to defend IBM when their tech was used to count bodies in Nazi Germany, in line with the law of the country and all...

  4. Re:Sickening on Is Twitter Aiding and Abetting Terrorism? · · Score: 1

No, what is sickening is Israels blatant genocide (THEY should know better), their disregard for formal UN resolutions, and the US's steadfast support of the last apartheid supporting government in the world, resulting in them getting botty-smacked on 9-11. Their is no place in the world for a state whose membership is based on racial criteria.

How fast can YOU run with your arms held by your side? There's huge benefit in swinging your arms while running, and I'm sure I'd start flapping too if chased by something bigger than me with teeth. There's also huge benefits in terms of balance if rapidly changing direction while running, or navigating tricky terrains slowly. Flying could then be the added advantage of not dying when you fall.

  9. Not without lots of fiddling on MythTV Allows Multiple Front-Ends On Wide Range of Platforms · · Score: 1

That multi front-end thing is really just a myth... I use MythTV as a jukebox (i.e. playing only videos and music - no TV tuner) and it does NOT work out the box. Instead of transmitting the video similar to when transmitting a captured stream, the egg-heads over at MythTV decided it would be fine to display the video entries as reported by the DB, but make you go fiddle about with nfs mounts etc to get the actual video "streamed" to the front end. Ditto for covers. Ask your mom to set up an nfs mount. For this decision alone, the project should die.

  10. Quick answer: No on Cross-OS File System That Sucks Less? · · Score: 1, Troll

Since you have to find the lowest common denominator supported by all your platforms, your weak link is obviously (and as usual) Microsoft Windows.
So the most "modern" fs you'll be able to use is unfortunately NTFS.

So basically, the logic being put forth is: Our business model is based on your inability to put out a secure product. Your attempt at putting out a secure product is going to break our business model, and thus our business.
No, it's not as if Microsoft is trying to put out an exploit free product is it? They're trying to put their fingers in their own dykes, that's all. If they brought out Vista, and it it didn't NEED firewalls and other anal systems, you would have a point, but that would be a cold day in hell....

2)Don't build houses in hurricane zones (people from Florida have lots of trouble grasping the simple concept of "Hurricane Alley" and why not to live there)
3)Don't build your house below sea level - this might seem obvious at first, and we really ought to have learnt our lesson from the Dutch, but I guess people from New Orleans are REALLY slow learners.
