But the entire kissing scene and them looking out lasted a minute more than necessary. It could have been reduced to 1 minute and saved me the annoyance.... Especially after my girlfriend dumped me after seeing Nemesis... Romance is the last thing I want to see!
I'm also a bit peeved that I didn't get to see Shelob...
But Gimli's reference to female dwarf's beards brought up AD&D 2nd edition nostalgia....
I've been meaning to get the manga, but I just havn't been able to pull up the dough. I do, however, have the entire manga series of Akira. After reading the manga, I was somewhat disappointed by the film because the Manga went on after the akira incident, and Tetsuo was still alive. He built his own empire and an army of psychic mutants (some of which were incredibly interesting) as did the crazy cultist afro person on the movie: She was a much bigger player. She built her own cult/religion to combat Tetsuo's insane army. The manga is probably one of the most in debth manga's I've read, with some of the coolest action scenes and detailed landscapes.
Well, I think Akira had just a better flow. Ghost in a shell just didn't have the detail or the direction. Plus, the characters were kinda boring and didn't have the debth of the ones in Akira.
Although Ghost in a shell's plot was pretty interesting, it didn't have the cool ultra violence that Akira had, hehe.
Yes, I know spirited away is out. I saw it on the theater... But I'm still not sure on how it did, I kinda havn't checked.
Also, imoho Akira's soundtrack was far superior. It had a certain power that Ghost in a Shell's st didn't have... Both ones worked, but I think Akira's music is far more powerful. imoho.
But then again, there's no way they can. In a Q episode (I think it's all good things, but I don't remember) Picard visits the future with the help of Q and they visit data, who is living in a nice little house with his hair dyed in white stripes and has a nanny.
I'm not saying Metropolis is a bad movie at all. I loved metropolis, and after watching it a few times I was able to block out the child like characters, but it was still hard to look at. But I understand how it is. Another thing is when you look at Akira and Metropolis you see a lot of similarities... Katsushiro Otomo wrote both scripts. And both are brilliant masterpieces, different in many ways but with many similarities.
I still think Tetsuo mutating is cooler than Tima blowing up the ziggerat, but that's just my own humble opinion.
One thing that was great about both animes was the fantastic music. While Metropolis had swing/jazz, and it worked very well, Akira had a beautiful mix of all sorts of stuff, from traditional japanese choir to african drums... Ok, I'll shut up now.
Armitage 3 is a somewhat similar movie that has a different idea: instead of machines having souls, it's more like machines giving birth/having emotions. They came out with a sequel to that as well, and frankly, the sequel sucked. Of course Armitage 3 didn't leave off at a cliffhanger, which Ghost in a shell kinda did.
Movie that I would like to see another visit to is Metropolis. except get rid of the silly character animation, they look too childish.
Ghost in a shell was an awesome, but to bring it to the level of Akira-dom is kinda crazy... It's a great anime, but if you think about the time it was made vs. the time Akira was made, the similarity just isn't there.
Also, I'm glad they're finally coming out with a sequel, the first one just leaves you hanging and cussing out the tv/vcr/dvd for ending just when it was getting interesting. I'm suprised that they havn't done a sequel already.
Studio Ghibli, eh? Those are those great people who did Princess Mononoke, Kiki's delievery service, and Spirited away (which was taken and released here by Disney...) I wonder if Mirimax (which is part of Disney) will be behind the release on our coasts.
Of course that would all depend on how successful Spirited away was. Anyone know when it's coming here?
I would be incredibly flattered to know that my music was considered to be good enough to be pirated.
Of course I would probably be flattered if a critic gave me 2 stars, with my self esteem problem, hehe.
Speaking of problems, did anyone else experience a weird phase yesterday where they were suddenly logged out and couldn't log in? It was really freaky, I kept on getting this 303 error POST messages, and my friend who is another/. fan had the same problem. Anybody know why?
I went to a seminar about China by the former translator for Chairman Mao, and he told me some of the not so well known examples of chinese ingenious copying stuff. Also, apparently their big thing is finding out how something works, copying it, and enhancing it. So who knows, this 2 towers DVD could have extra scenes in it!
Also, what would be funny is if it was the 2 towers animated movie(anyone remember that one?). That would be terrible, yet funny.
Argh, a score of 0? Is somebody jealous of my oh so pitiful Biology knowledge that I happened to pick up in high school by accidental paying attention... Damn, at this rate I'll never get a 5....
More like everybody uses it, and it drains out individuality, imoho. The thing with Linux is simply using it makes you a bit of a rebel (or at least in my experience with it), and with Apple... Well, Apple is Apple. I am currently using Mac OS, 98, and XP, and I think XP is just kinda... blandish. Nice, and in some ways it is better than some of the other systems, but stuff by microsoft has such a bland feeling. Who knows if that's some sort of OS karma, who knows. Heh... My OS has bad karma... I need to go call my local witch doctor to purge all the evil spirits from my old PC, heh...
If you think about it, bacteria living outside thermal vents deep under the ocean make perfect sense. While they have 2 strikes against them: The heat and the pressure, they have some obvious advantages: they have a chemical fountain keeping them warm and giving them minerals, and since the water is so dense it is simple to defuse O2 by simple passive transport. So it makes a lot of sense that bacteria would grow here. The thing is the situation on Mars is a lot less agressive than where these little deep bacteria formed, so I'm suprised that life has yet to be discovered there. Oh well, they have yet to investigate the polar ice caps.
Nothing better than posting his address and everything on slashdot! What a better way to get him screwed over somehow... Thanks for giving me that info...
Still, him hijacking stuff... that's not right... Not right at all. Shame.
Hey, there's nothing he can do now to end the horror of it all... Except take an ax to his server! BWA HA HA HA!!!
I wonder if somebody could come up with a program or something that would just send spam sent from his server directly back (except repeated 100 times, like those oh so annoying repeat spams) so it overloads it... Oh that would be beautiful...
Hey! I could probably see the fireball from it detonating from my house!
Due to the no child left behind, that means that either all US kids on the internet must have a.kids.us domain name, or all kids in the US must get online...
I dunno, but the idea of every preschooler in america on the web at one time is kinda scary. What scares me more is every highschooler being online... Eeek...
Holy crap....
That's the first score 4 (higest score ever, actually) I've ever gotten. I think that this calls for a celebration...::Laughs sadly...:: I play LAN tonite... with myself and my oh so interesting to talk to bots...
I certainly hope I am not the epitome of the typical/. user...
That sounds really really dirty. Thank god it's not hamsters. Then that would be really bad.
Yet in contemplating their life situation, I feel a tad of a warm fuzzy feeling (assuming it isn't a fever) because I know that A: I'm not bred to have cancer, and B: I can't be patented by those darn canadians OR those darn americans!
I'm also a bit peeved that I didn't get to see Shelob...

All that stupid romance crap. God, I mean, seriously... I don't wanna know about Aragorn's wet dreams.
That, or, the dog's been wanting a new chew toy...

Business they are losing to the consoles experimenting the MMORPGs. I still prefer PC MMORPGs, but final fantasy XI does look pretty tempting.

Oh my god, they killed Data, those bastards!
But then again, there's no way they can. In a Q episode (I think it's all good things, but I don't remember) Picard visits the future with the help of Q and they visit data, who is living in a nice little house with his hair dyed in white stripes and has a nanny.
Can you say "Star trek XI, the search for Data"?

I find myself wondering, where do you people get this stuff? Just curious. I had lost almost all hope in the internet.
Also, what would be funny is if it was the 2 towers animated movie(anyone remember that one?). That would be terrible, yet funny.

I still think the Borg use XP.

My parents lied to me about finding me in a space pod then! Damn!!! NOOO!

Yes, she finds me showing her motherboard to be very sexy.

So now I can take my whining about my feeling so displaced in this world, and take it to the next level: I don't belong on this planet at all!
