I was pretty sure it was a joke... then I started looking at the attached pages to gmail.com they have fancy privacy pages and everything. Then I went to the Google Accounts page to maybe sign up... Clicked on the "Forgot your password?" link... funny stuff.
Lots of people are mentioning the 20/5 GB cap for this service and I was wondering if anybody has Telus DSL with their (insanely low, in my oppinion) cap of 5/1 GB cap. Do they ever come after you after that? I avoided them like the plague when I came to Alberta.
I do it already. With Knoppix 3.3 theres a program that will make a permanent home directory. Point it at your USB key drive at boot and you are laughing.
"knoppix home=/dev/sda1 screen=1280x1024"
If you figure out how to edit the ISO (I'm guessing loopback device) you could even get the CD to do this automatically.
I agree completely... It totally depends on the game... If it's a non-story driven type game (ie driving, sports) then there really no "mood" to enhance its all about adrenaline, whatever gets you pumped up. However for games like Halo or Prince of Persia it is critical that the music fits.
Having read through this I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the xbox's ability to put the music that YOU want into a game... Nothing quite like having Ludicris' "Move" while crashing into shit in Burnout 2, and then go directly into "Ducks Like Rain" by Raffi.
Btw, I tried to come up with a good name for this release. But the fact
is, that as Scott Adams has so often pointed out, you can't do much
better than "weasel" when it comes to funny. Ever since the "greased
weasel" series of kernel releases I have been stuck for a good name.
This release is tentatively called the "stoned beaver" release (beavers
are _almost_ as good as weasels, as I'm sure Scott Adams would agree).
If you feel strongly about the issue, please send your votes and
ideas to "feedback@beaver-overlord.com", I'm sure somebody will find
your insight fascinating.
This is true... to a point of course. Anybody remember buying an Amiga just for Lemmings? It happened lots. Same idea as current consoles, Xbox - Halo, GC - Mario games, PS - Grand Turismo dynasty...
Yeah, I thought that was odd too... but now he has two new drives and the possibility of getting another new drive through warranty. So he is better off this way.
So why does it need to go from 0-60 in four seconds and top out at 130? (and is anyone else wondering what the real numbers would be if someone took that thing out to a drag strip and timed it?)
From the article: By winter they had a drivable car, and by fall, they were racing it on autocross tracks
Seems like theres a good chance that these are
fairly accurate numbers.
OK I'm over it. For some reason I never noticed that you can just install the browser... Almost, whats up with it installing Composer as well in the minimal install?
Yes, it is. However, how long has Mozilla been out? We'll go with June 5. Why is it that we have had to wait for 4 months for a beta product? One complaint of mine was going to be that Phoenix will be outdated as soon it's released but apparently it is built on the current Mozilla source. Way to go!
Anyways, I really hate Mozilla simply because it's a beast. I use IE on my Windows box pretty much exclusively because of its weight. I use Galeon on my FreeBSD box for the same reason. Phoenix is great. The Phoenix guys deserve mucho kudos. I just don't see why it has to be a side project.
Fair enough, but why not have "just" a browser and then have Mozilla Platinum or something? Or as an alternative a module based system as suggested by WizardofWestmarch (or whoever thought of it first). Either would be a damn good idea.

All i can say is that 20/5 GB is pretty good compared to Telus DSL.
NO NO NO... It's Huey, Dewy (sp?) and Louie.

I'm afraid it's not as easy as knoppix, but with a little bit of patience it's not too bad.
It is now... Just got the announcement from FreeBSD-Announce twenty minutes ago.
One place that does this is here. It sucks but then again I don't do business with them.
I believe that would be a petabyte.

Yes this will probably happen, but would you want to trust your $3000 laptop to save a couple bucks?

Good call. Dang... can't believe how clever I can be sometimes.
He did say that there were 30 million users.
Sturmbahnfuehrer... if its offensive I appologize. The fish says "Storm course leader" and that just doesn't seem right
that sight sounds "offly" similar to site... wait I'm posting on slashdot so it doesn't matter. I'm done now.
that the first "news sight" referenced by google is slashdot?
