We don't need that pesky constitution thing anymore, either. I mean, it was nice at the beginning and all, but it's just getting in the way of corporate profits now. What with the DMCA, the Patriot act, and others like it, it's mainly a sort of social signal rather than a legal document with teeth.
I suppose if you were going to travel somewhere that you knew you weren't going to drive the entire time you were there, had plenty of cash, and weren't planning on buying any alcohol, cigarettes, lottery tickets, etc. at any point during your trip, maybe you could travel without needing an ID. but what's the point?
Sounds more like a cheesy pickup line to me:
"Excuse me Miss, I'm Mr. Jones with the Office of Penetration Testing. You've been scheduled for a security checkup."
I get visions of Tom and Jerry Kids, Tiny Toon Adventures, Muppet Babies, Teen Titans and other tv shows re-hashed with the characters as younger versions of themselves when I picture this. Teen Trek maybe?:P
They're just basically saying that the star was slingshotted(new word?) out of the galaxy by way of the black hole at the center of the galaxy. The same way that we use planets to slingshot probes and increase their velocity to get them to their destinations faster. Just at a much larger scale.
You can't break Mach 10, just like you can't break warp 10! If you were traveling at Warp 10, you'd occupy all points in space at once. At Mach 10, would you occupy all the space in my iPod?
One danger is that the results of the riot-cams will just be dismissed as doctored film. There is also the risk of confiscation.

"it'll be practically impossible to get away with even minor editing-room spin doctoring, if thousands of people around the world have the original footage on their hard drives."
We're talking about a comfortable temperature, not stifling heat. I can't exactly work in gloves and earmuffs, but it seems I have to on some summer days when the AC is cranked down to 50 degrees (or at least it seems that way).
Actually the '94 Civic does have power brakes.:) Pretty much any car since the 70's does too. Look right behind the master cylinder (where you add brake fluid) at the round black thing. That's the brake booster. It uses engine vacuum to amplify the force you apply to the brakes with your foot. Without it you'd be just about standing on the brakes every time you wanted to slow down.:)

I live 10 minutes from the town, folks. The parent poster is not exagurating.

Freedom is the point.

Wouldn't very slight randomizing of packet timestamps completely nullify this method?
Mod parent back up, this is not a Troll. It's rather insightful.
Unfortunately most of America is out of their minds too, because it's a perfectly valid reason to sue here. :(

I forgot to mention in the article that this would be for an autocross/track car, so legal issues aren't a problem. Sorry about that. :)
Dan of dansdata.com debunks the myth of 'secure' fingerprint readers in his review of a Lifeview Finger ID machine here.
This was tried during the dot com boom. It just dosen't work. Isn't this what Google was supposed to stop?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't routing all tracker requests through a single domain create MORE of a bottleneck?
What do we call it when /. actually tries to help alleviate bandwidth shortage?
The first sign of the Apocalypse.
But people are much more apt to help the dolphin... "Dolphins are so much cuter than hobos! Here, have some money."

Too bad the public fear of anything with the word 'nuclear' in it will grind this project to a halt. :(

Sounds good except I don't know anyone that pees 10 times a day :P
Oh great, the thing reboots every time I heel-toe downshift? :)

He just wanted to get to work on time.
