seriously, you think im the only one he'll ever attempt to rob?

seriously, you dont think theres a chance this guy who is robbing people may one day kill someone for a tv to save his own ass from going to jail?

seriously, you think i *care* if that guy stays alive when theres a chance he could not just rob, but even potentially kill someone quite innocent?

yeah, if he breaks into the house of a gunowner i dont care if he gets shot. if you dont want a gun, and if you see a guy robbing you and want to say "oh i forgive you" thats ok.

i dont want to say i forgive you, i want to point a gun at him and tell him tohave a seat while the police get a donut and come over. and if he wants to attack me, i want him dead. because after me theres my wife and 2 infant children in my home and i wont have them feel threatened because i thought id say "i forgive you, have another chance" to some prick who though he could come into *MY* house and do what he wants.

this reminds me of a West Wing episode. Rob Lowe's character was arguing for school vouchers and such; some chick got mad, her dad told her that he was making the argument *against* their party just so they could practice or some such; then his character reveals his real opinion on education and one brief bit of it stuck in my mind:

"i believe schools should be palaces" or something similar to that

they need money; money for a number of things because every child in this country deserves an education equal to that of a private school, in a facility as nice as that which can be found in private schools; and better.

Its a shame so much extra money must be spent on war, whether it goes over the federal budget or not, but education isn't important enough to do into debt over.

I remember reading in a book my parents gave me about a very stric christian view against evolution; that the author (forgive me for not giving his name, i cant find the book at the moment) argued against other life forms based on this, and im paraphrasing since it was a year or two ago that i read it:

the bible says that after christs return this universe, and everything in it will be destroyed and a new perfect world given to us. why would the bible, inspired by god, tell us that everything would be destroyed based on the events on our world, if our world wasnt alone in harboring life?

of course, once i started to read the bible, i was so disgusted with it, that i quit reading the bible, so i dont know what passages of it hes talking about. anyone care to enlighten me?

Another thought: why does one bible give so many christians so many different points of view? Why isnt the thing clear enough that *all* people worshipping god/jesus can agree on everything? Some christians believe theres a very good possibility we arent alone, others believe that were it....we're all the life that exists in a universe billions of light years across, with trillions of stars and planets. Whos right...and why doesnt the bible give clarity on *that* among other things?

and i'll buy one when *every* book is available in a digital format and doesn't "expire"; the device is reasonably priced (as well as the content)

my worry is that i could get a reader, and not find books i really want. or that if i find them, and get them...i wont have them forever. and what about lending books? i can take my copy of "Cosmos" or "The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide" and let my brother read it and know it's ok...and still read any other book I have on my shelf.

But what about if i lend him my reader? Thats no good. Can i digitally copy it to him? Copyright violations would abound, obviously.

How about a standard of transferring that would "move" the copy from my reader to his, that he could then "move" to mine, or someone else...so that only one copy would exist for each copy purchased?

And what happens when, eventually, a standard is reached and people can hack the devices (which is only a matter of time, and probably very little time at that) and we find the books we bought legit are being taken like music is now?
