  1. But it's still not a RaspberryPi on Raspberry Pi's Smaller, Cheaper Rival: NanoPi Neo Plus2 Weighs in at $25 (zdnet.com) · · Score: 2

The RaspberryPi community still trumps it for beginners. If you're not a beginner then it doesn't matter, choose what fits the job. I am glad there are lots of boards popping up all over the place, Choice is good but I am puzzled at the fact that there's so many allwinner SoC's running around but the drivers are still...questionable. You'd figure that would be sorted out by now.

I enjoy it and going back to try and unlock all the special games/characters gives it decent replay but I also like Nintendo games and have been paying 60-70 for new Mario games for years so perhaps that's why the 14.99 (Canadian price) didn't bother me too much.

I use VMware View at work and all my work bookmarks and internal tools are in it. Yes I am using a fat laptop at work and a desktop at home but wherever I go I can use that work environment exactly as I left it and pickup exactly where I left off where as before I had a pre built VM at home for all my tools and it had to constantly be updated to keep up. This has made working from home or being on call on the weekends much easier for me.

  15. True yet not true on Wii 'Popularity Bubble' to Burst? · · Score: 1

I have had a Wii since february and it tends to have bursts where I use it like crazy for a month then don't touch it for a month when I got it I used it constantly for a month then I stopped for about 1.5 months. then I bought a whole bunch of VC titles and played them straight for a month then stopped for another month, then I got paper mario and that was a sweet 3 weeks then Super metroid came out on the VC and did I ever play that but once again I stopped for a month. So yes it experiences "Dust" periods but Nintendo has been releasing content to bring me back and I like the casual aspect of it and how it doesn't own my life. The wii is not going to go anywhere it is just a different genre of console and market where people casually pick up a wii-mote from time to time. Different, Not dieing. :)

  16. Re:How about Mac OSX for every computer? on Is Apple Doing All It Can to Beat Vista? · · Score: 1

It's unfortunate that that happened to you Apple has 3 types of customers 1. The ones who buy their hardware, set it up, are blissfully happy and never have to call Applecare 2. The inquisitive customer, the ones who Call Applecare about the features and perks and howto's about their hardware/software and are blissfully happy as well 3. Then there is the bracket you unfortunately fell into. The hardware repair group. No matter how many product repairs or replacements you give to this user they always ALWAYS get a broken one until they get so pissed they hate apple. As if the universe is saying "You don't belong here!" you always get the less than 1% lemon of the group. I always feel bad for #3's when they call in, pages of case notes as soon as you get their account up and I know that somehow the one I have sent out will by the force of the universe be broken too. but the 1's and 2's make up over 95% at least otherwise Apple would not exist and I would be afraid to answer the phone. I would say give them another shot but if you have already experienced being #3 it'll just happen again for some reason.

  17. Re:Yeah, but... on iPhone Freed From AT&T, Twice · · Score: 1

No, that won't happen, at least not at the apple stores. The worst you get from apple is if you have any issues with the phone and try to call for support we'll just send you on your way with a nice "too bad, no warranty" because the phone support is linked to your AT&T contract and I would suggest highly that you do not void this warranty as it is a brand spanking new product only 2 months out of the gates. You **might** be able to trick an agent into phone support but if the phone ever needed to be sent in the depot would flag it as warranty void and you'd be paying hefty repair fees.

  18. BootCamp is the greatest thing since sliced bread on Cringely Predicts Apple to Ship OS X for Any PC · · Score: 1

I don't mean in the way of generic Mac Os X but think of it, How many people do you think are like "oh that OS is nice but can I really get used to it and can I really live without windows" Well now you don't have to, you can run both! BootCamp is going to make it easier than ever for the switch to take place because people can do it one step at a time. They will do it too because lets face it, OS X is the nicest piece of desktop work out there right now and once the new users get comfortable with the Mac way of life I am certain that Xp partition will gradually become a memory! Except in cases of wanting to play the latest games of today that are not ported to OS X. So I don't believe Generic intel OS X is in the future as Jobs is too much of a control freak for that but Adopting the mac way of life has become easier then ever with no pesky and pricey VM required.
