Man I lost so many hours playing it and trying to find everything, talk to all the dead Nazi's and kill the creatures which were pretty damn cool if I do say so, and it was on the mac, which made me so glad I had one. Wish they'd re-issue it, I thought the story line alone made it an instant classic. It kept me glued to the monitor. Come to think about it I don't remember if I ever beat it... time to dust off the LCIII.

The problem in doing that is that you will then have a whole group of people who claim they never got their goods and end up ripping off the legit sellers. Its a screwed up system in the first place because of its anonymous nature.

Well I've never been burned for a large amount of money, I have had items for under $20 become "lost" in the mail. I find it hard to believe that in the 20 years I've used the postal service I've never once had a piece of mail become lost, yet ebay sellers seem to magically have trouble in this area.

It pisses me off too because they know that for $20 or less its not worth my trouble to do anything. Plus they can send negative feedback regarding the transaction if I do the same. I know I've been burned and still ended up with negative feedback against myself as "retaliation." The Feedback system in ebay needs to seriously be reworked. As the article states the seller could buy a hundred stamps for a dollar and have a great rating and then just rip everyone off.

The only way that I can recommend giving yourself a little extra security is to Always pay for the damned insurance. At least then when they say its "lost in the mail" you can say "ok fill out the form and get the money back to me." Then you could take things further up the ladder if you don't get anywhere. I really think that most sellers know this and that is why they use non insured auctions as a way to take extra money.

Well I can see why this would work in Japan, they have a long history of drumming in their culture. Here however in the states, we are too fragmented of a society dor something like this. I'm sure it will be fun, but a drum controller? I mean if they stick to something like Bust a move, DDR, or even the incredibly addictive Frequency and Amplitude for the PS2 then I think it will do great, but if it becomes too specalized they may alienate the US consumers.

You won't see this any longer now that there is a clear cut ratings system in place. The ability of games to be judged based on a level playing field now makes it so that NOA doesn't need to play the role of the ratings board anymore. At the time (the 1980's) the NOA seal of approval could be seen more as a guide for parents.

Learning XP's recovery console is nowhere near as fun as booting off a live CD and fixing the problem with regular tools would be.

Well this past week on NPR's Talk of the Nation they had a Professor from MIT I believe who discussed the problems with these voting machines. He mentioned that they had "stumbled" upon the source for one of these machines and that they found many disturbing problems.

What struck me as interesting was that there was a long discussion of why these should be open sourced, the callers, the moderator, and the professor all seemed to be on the same page. This is NPR, however that makes me feel a little better since I think its safe to say that more people who listen to NPR vote than those who listen to KROQ or some other Pop music station.

Living in LA you can't help but know how great a place third street promanade(sp?) can be. I'm glad these guys love macs enough to camp out for 24 hours, however everything they did seemed to center around finding power. C'mon there had to be something else to do.

Granted they don't seem old enough for some of what third street has to offer, however I know they at least had an opportunity to meet intersting people during the night hours (as I've met some without even sleeping there), but there's tons better stuff to take a picture of than a tree or an extension cord, at least snap some chicks.

I guess they get street cred for hanging out there all night, try that 2-3 years ago before they started hardcore cleaning up the area and the webpage might have been titled:

Technically this would be a good idea. Placing a AP at the bottom of a wall and having a computer directly above on the other side of the wall can mean the signal has to travel through more than the height of the wall to reach the computer. (remember a^2+b^2=c^2)

However, with the AP in the basement and the computers directly above it then the signal needs to only move through the 2-3 feet that each floor of the house is made of. Of course this is assuming everything lines up right.

    1. Not being allowed to touch anything power related. Apparently unions have contracts which require you to hire them even for something as simple as plugging in a television

    2. Unable to bring in external equipment. They might make you rent from them any one of a number of items: televisions, power strips, extension cords.

    3. Not allowed to have snacks/drinks brought in.
