I know Un-Thesis, and I haven't had any contact with him, whatsoever since this was posted on xmule.org.
What I understand, from the article, is that his ISP shut down his connection, because of the subopeana. I don't think anyone has specifically told him he couldn't use the internet, but that's the conclusion he drew from having his internet service shut down, and talking with his ISP.
Either way, he still can't get on the internet, until he's able to find out what's going on, or get a new ISP.
Horendous? I wouldn't go that far. They did change some things around, but most of them were nesecessary, in the book to movie adaption.
True, Aragorn dieing (!) and Faramir taking them to Gondor (!!!) were different from the books, and probably not nesesecessary, but we can't do anything about that, can we?
I doubt spammers would be able to use it for long.
You only get downloads from the channels you are suscribed to - if a spammer started a channel it wouldn't be used by anyone for long, since no one wants to waste their bandwidth on spam.
It is released under the GPL, so I suppose putting it on a website would be legal. Has anyone done this? I orignally wasn't that interested in it, but since they've pulled it from their website I want to try it.
Do us conservatives a favor, and wait 6 months before you make any more comments on WMDs that you can't prove. Just because we haven't found any yet (or possibly because the government isn't ready to revel the information) doesn't mean that they don't exist. Give us time, and I assure you that we'll discover that they had them, and they probably also moved them to other countries.
Wow, Knowbuddy got arrested 7 hours after this was slashdotted. His website was seized by the government and now has the info, i'd go through a proxy (6/4 if you have it) though, they may track any visitors to his website..
"How exactly are you threatened? A tiny country the other side of the world has MYSTERIOUS INVISIBLE weapons of mass destruction they might use against you in the far future? Ooh boy, now that justifies a war."
I hate to break it to you, but some of those "invisible" weapons they're not supposed to have were shot at Kuwait. I found it truly amazing that they made a SCUD missile so fast. But oh no, they couldn't have been hiding it from the UN. They must have made it in under 3 days for the sole purpose of shooting at Kuwait, right?:P
Also, it's kinda amazing that Saddam Hussein is telling his troops they can use chemical weapons (Al Jazeera along with American stations are all confirming that.) that they don't have. Or do they? Is it possible that someone _actually_ hid weapons from the almighty UN? Of course.
Er.. sorry, I forgot to add the HTML.. here is a cleaned up version..
#!/bin/bash
# Looking at MY files are you?! # Tsk.. Tsk.. like my plans for world domination # would be plaintext.. # The REAL ones are encrypted.
: "check" if intruder > 0 "remove" goto "check
# This moves the intruder who dared to look at my # files to death row.. : "remove" mv -Rf/usr/annoyingintruder/usr/local/deathrow goto "check"
# This checks the time, and if it's after or #equal to 12:00 it # removes everyone on death row : "time" TIME=getthetime if TIME > 11:59 goto "nightnight" goto "time"
This is what I *always* leave on my old hard drives, yes I know the syntax isn't correct, it isn't supposed to be completely correct, it's just supposed to be semi-easy to understand for whoever gets my hard drive.
It's a file name PlansForWorldDomination.sh
and here's what it contains..
#!/bin/bash
# Looking at MY files are you?!
# Tsk.. Tsk.. like my plans for world domination # would be plaintext..
# The REAL ones are encrypted.
: "check"
if intruder > 0 "remove"
goto "check"

# This checks the time, and if it's after or #equal to 12:00 it
# removes everyone on death row
: "time"
TIME=getthetime

goto "time"
: "nightnight"
echo Nice knowing ya..
mv -Rf/usr/local/deathrow//dev/null/
goto "check"
They want money for Santa because thats where he came from?!
Thats like saying that after Bill Gates' death, the USA might as well have to pay damages to all the countrys that used his software.
Waaaait, maybe that's not such a bad idea.
I'm downloading the source code, and thanks to all you guys it's going at the amazingly fast pace of 2 k/bs a second, i'm on a T1 line too..
Anyway, what programming language is it written in, and what do you think I should use to compile it?
I'm semi-new to C++ and C, I have compilers for them but I mainly program in Perl and Python.
Hopefully directions are included in the package.. when it finally gets done.
whether a video tape is played, or he is called to the stand to say the samething? He couldn't change what he said since he was under oath, so it seems the same.
Congress isn't going to lose money from this, and new R&D in wireless devices might actually help the economy.. I doubt it but it's possible, especially if it was something major.
Teach them how to use the shell, i'm 14 and i've been using Linux since I was 10. I grew up with the GUI in Windows 95, and I almost never use the Linux GUI. I find the the GUI can get in the way, if you know how to use the shell properly. I'd much rather type tar zxvf file.tar, instead of double clicking the file, and doing the extract thing. I think it's best to have them use the shell, and once they know that well then you can show them the GUI.
1. My wireless adapter won't work on Linux, so I have no choice when I want to use the interenet. It's a Linksys WUSB11 v2.6, if anyone can help my emails pilot1_ace@hotmail.com
2. Most games and software are for Windows, sure you can run them in Linux with WINE, but not all of them work, and joysticks and Linux don't get along that well.
3. Windows 2000 it self is almost as stable as Linux, sure it has way too many memmory leaks, but i've NEVER been able to crash W2k itself, sometimes a program it's running will crash but never W2k, even if I kill explorer.exe I can relaunch it and everything works fine.
If I could get the 'net to work on RedHat Linux 8 I would switch to Linux without a second thought, but I can't so i'll just dual boot for now, until I do.
Your partly right, but it probably was an "interview" but I don't believe for a second that he's in charge of the NSA, there way too secretive for that.
Hopefully downloads are better with G2...

Gnutella2?

I remember when I first tried Gnutella clients, they were awful and i've never been able to download a thing off of one on my Windows or Linux PC, so I finally broke down and used Kazaa, which works fine.
Hopefully G2 downloads things better, or else it won't catch on.

Of course it's still going to end in the middle of the book - it has too!
There isn't nearly enough material in RotK alone to make another movie out of - otherwise PJ would have.
Think about it, what ending would have been better for PJ, everyone thinking Frodo was dead, or the ending from TTT?
Horendous? I wouldn't go that far.

I'm not sure if you were serious or not, but i'll reply anyway.
GPL stands for General Public License, and any software licensed under it..
Must let anyone download the source code
Must let anyone modify the source code, as long as they give credit to the original programmers and say that the software isn't the original version.
That's basically it, most software licensed under the GPL has binary copies available for free, but I don't think that's required.
It is released under the GPL, so I suppose putting it on a website would be legal.
Has anyone done this?

Why _wouldn't_ you want to interest them in computers?
I've been sitting in front of a computer most of the day since I was 8 (15 now) and I haven't turned out bad.
But, I don't think they're going to be on the computer all day at home, even though they might be at his house..

In my experience it handles wireless cards _very_ well, what card are you using?
What am I supposed to do with the .ext file once it finishes downloading?
Is it a BZ2 or Gziped tarball that I just untar, or something else?
Hmm, I started at 20 kb/s, it must be your connection.

I don't see why NASA has to spend a thing to satisfy them, if they don't believe it that's fine, it's THEIR problem not NASAs.
