Nope it doesn't CC you, but can can make it do so yourself if you want the output of `dpkg --print-installation-architecture` and "dpkg-query --show --showformat='\${status} \${package}\\n'|"
You know, for restoring your system when you do an accidental rm -rf *?
If this were a perl regex it wouldn't be so bad, because of the `?' the `*' is not greedy, rm will only delete your *realy* important files in stead of all of them;)
If you want bondage languages that force bad programs to be minimally debuggable, use Python, but don't expect to be as productive in a language that forces you to think in some particular way about your problem.
I tried to use Python, but perl complained:

After reading the no so well thought about Forbes advice, this guy has some great advice for Joe User. I've been saying this for a coule of years now, but maybe now they'll finally "get it": * If you're buying a computer in the coming year, don't get one that uses Windows. It's simply too insecure. (Did you know there's a secret "administrator" account and password on every machine? You didn't? Every hacker does.) Get one with the Linux operating system installed (Evesham does them, for example) or an Apple machine running OSX. Both systems are fast, stable and secure. With Windows XP... well, sometimes two out of three really IS bad.
[...]
* If you're still using Windows, stop using Internet Explorer; instead try Netscape, Mozilla or Opera. IE has too many security holes for comfort.
* Ditto Outlook Express; try programs such as Eudora or Opera or Mozilla.

I think they're trying to get marketshare for DELL, since they are two of the big players in the server market and DELL refuses to take up it's customers defence when it comes to legal action from SCO.
Hey HP is willing to defend me, let's dump those DELL boxes and bring in those from HP!
I visited Hungary just a few weeks ago, we wanted to rent a car to get there, but they wouldn't rent it to us because they cannot get the insurance for the car in Eastern European countries.
So we bought a car, the travel insurance to Hungarije was 15% or so higher then if we would have gone to Spain or some other western european country.
The economy is low so companies do everything to save money/not pay money. Terrorism is the mainstream accepted excuse. And since Hungary was under Socialist/Communist (which one was it agian?) reign till 1991 or so, places countries as such in the High Risk Countries category.
I hope things like these will resolve when Hungary joins the European Union. Not that I really want that, cause wealthy west-europeans will move to Hungary and destroy the beautifull countryside to build office buildings and such, and Hungarians will probably move to the west so you culture will be lost aswell... But thats a different discussion..
A very interesting read, since I'm researching the possibilities of WiFi (802.11g). Because a friend of mine wants to use WiFi to supply his village in Hungary with Internet access.
Once we have a working plan, we can reimplement this truout his country. And maybe even implement it to supply Internet access to hard to reach areas in my country (Holland).
Success stories like these only help us with the exceptance of our idea, and possibly even help to get (more) investors/sponsors.
If I was that guy I would feel like I was in the middle ages and I was suspected of being to towns biggest/baddest witch! Cuase this sounds like an ordinary witch hunt to me. Hollywood wants his head...
Dude, you almost gave me a hartattack
I first read that as GNU/Clippy
`dpkg --print-installation-architecture` and
"dpkg-query --show --showformat='\${status} \${package}\\n'|"
it takes 30 minutes to install a service pack (which can change any functionality in windows, so it's a comparable procedure)
This is not quite true, Windows does not run on as many architectures as Linux does.
Look at the new Debian installer, it takes alot of time to "get it right", only because it has to work on so many architectures.
I think this is the same reason why there is no 1-click upgrade procedure or something for Linux.
It doesn't mean it's impossible, I think it's just damn hard to create such a procedure which works the same way on so many platforms

That's it, I've had enough of your whining.
Your default umask is now 0444.

is openoffice available in esperanto?
That's not important, can it handle Klingon? HTTP can...

Russian gov. gets full src windows http://amo.net/NT/01-20-03MSFT.html
HOw is that interesting?
Its interesting because a non-geek actually _read_ it.
Automatic reinstall, I think.
;)
Or it might install UNIXWare
One of the email addresses on the CD: ikautostelen@van.jouw
which translates from dutch to english to something like: me-steal-car@from.you

What the hell would /. do if Linus spent an evening partying in a whorehouse?
Be jealous, sigh, and compile the laterst 2.6 kernel?
qtparted is a Partition Magic Clone, it might be what your looking for (and included in Knoppix).
I don't know about a ghost clone for linux though...
What better software to backdoor that those in the core of the OS?
Backdoor it once, crack half the planet who uses that code!
If all the points (including point 6) are met we would just have "Yet Another Windows"

I'm no MS fan, but maybe they are accually paying more attention to their program security as they promised. Or they are planning something evil ;)
There are some compile problems with the MIPS arch for example, the perlmagick package is broken thanks to that.
See the Release-critical bugs for more reasons why.
