Way way too late Ballmer... Hint: for Microsoft to succeed in the new iPad space the wow factor needs to be so much higher to make an impact on the already infatuated crowd. Any investor and board member should just kick him out. Ballmer is not on top of things and will NEVER... I repeat NEVER be on top of things. Even Gates wasn't fully on top of things BUT he was at least in the same ballpark.
Ok so whats next Goatrance and the rest of the trance scene? oh wait... howabout the 65-75 and the psychedelics movements music?
Fsck off ignorant quasi logical generalists that think binaural brain wave music will make people drug addicts. WTF are we back to the 50ies and mind control beams or something?
I second this motion. And Adobe please do this pronto... not wanting to come across all whiny and stringy but common... 64 bit has been around for more than a decade (at least for me... pure 64 bit since 1996 (Sparc and MIPS.) and x86_64 since Opteron)

To place algorithm theory in the same space as implementation is just plain wrong... and the article does say that in a better way than kdawson's sensationalist header.
The implementation of a particular algorithm on specific hardware is more inline with resource economy than anything else and to subject comparison to the theoretical implementation is just ludicrous.
For instance one could with simple means device a unit where only bubble-sort would be possible because of the massive overhead of qsort on said machine. This is trivial... for instance Casio Fx180 calculator.
I must say that I was thinking along the lines of "The Gods Themselves" by Asimov and the "Electron Pump" it deals with... granted this is not in a "parallel universe" or so we believe at this moment... but differentials in our own universe. There must be non energy preserving forces in the system at some level... "quantum friction."
however I will argue that to make it work it may end up being a matter of trying to collide two black holes into each other with great speed. Further that though I wouldn't be surprised if that speed ends up being c.
I don't know about that... I regularly see that the cost comes out about equal...
it takes a junior admin a lot longer than a senior one to do the same thing and with same quality. When things need to be payed it comes out about the same with the big difference being that with an admin that knows their stuff doing things a lot faster making the services looks smoother and well oiled.
Same goes for coders. Either you can have a junior diddly-doodling it for a week or two or a senior in an afternoon (YMMV regarding senior devs.)
The largest question is IF the senior dev wants to lower themselves to do trivial work... after a while they get apathetic if they live too long in the land of trivialities.
Its not always about shipping... sometimes it is cheaper to hire someone that is very good at what they do and make sure that they are not associated with their expertise know-how because it would hurt the company bottom line. Yes it stifles innovation but that is good because how else would the corporation be able to milk consumers ad infinitum. Granted I am a bit cynical here but in this case I strongly see that the "inventor" having been done in in this way (having had my own mountain dew moment with a similar thing so I am sadly speaking from my own experience.)
No website on this planet is "drop-dead gorgeous"... a woman (or man if you prefer) in real 3D right in front of you and that you can touch and communicate with is infinitely much more "drop-dead gorgeous" even if they are butt ugly.
With my old nVidia system with onboard graphics Fedora 13 locks up at install. Both the analog and digital video out go dark. Sticking with 12 for a bit... possibly till 14 is done.
rewrite ONLY if it means it yields less lines of code to maintain with the same functionality. Use whatever language necessary to keep the length of code to a minimum.
If the code doesn;t look as if it has been refactored even once... junk it.
Well in the name of making everything more profitable and cheaper the consolidation of services will be done so that sooner or later the two offerings (AV and certs) will meet on the same server and an intruder will only need to root one machine. Its all about making money in every which way so the above is more true than anyone would like to think. Yes it is friggin sad.
Are you sure you are not the one not having one... I believe you are rather not able to make it work. Your technical deficiencies should not be used as a litigation device.
As I said before this lawsuit comes a cross now not only as Linux users are tightwads but also litigious tightwads as soon as something isn't catered to us on a golden plate. I stand firm in my ultimate conclusion that this eventually will make a stain on the Linux community and I as sure don't want a part of it.
For the life of me I don't understand how somebody can even run Linux productively (desktop wise) on something energy hungry like the PS3... mine is constantly on 300+ W... performance per watt is unbelievably bad and when using gnome on there its really really slow... the ONLY way I get any productivity is to just ssh into it and do calculations on the cells... which again is hopelessly ineffective in comparison to newer GPUs from both nVidia and AMD. So yeah I have been there... it was nice while it lasted but heck I moved along LONG time ago with more effective solutions.
And with 10 GB max as the partition? Ridicules! Not enough for serious stuff. Do I have to have an external HD then? Wow isn't that the same as buying more HW? No I really believe that YOU have no clue what the entire Linux offering on PS3 (and PS2) was really all about.
How much does it cost to exchange to a newer HD... oh let say a 500GB (because lets face it: that 80 GB if you are really doing anything on PSN will be gone quicker than you say err...)
And the "Other OS" only allotted 10 GB on the HD which isn't what I personally would have wanted. I wanted the entire HD to be a Linux capable "partition."
Presumably this HD update has more or less needed to happen for a lot of "Other OS" users if they are serious about using PS3 in both modes. They would have two HD's... one with the old firmware and one with the new... oh sure it is a biatch to go in and change all the time but what the heck the bootup into Linux wasn't exactly straightforward either.
Again this entire thing is a BIG NON ISSUE.
Honestly it comes across as if Linux users are a bunch of tightwads.
it was pretty clear and in no uncertain terms that the "other OS" option would be disabled if I continue installing it. It also plainly said that I was allowed not to upgrade but would lose the PS3 Store connectivity.
If you depend on the "other OS" solution you simply don't upgrade.
The only persons this effects are the ones that want to use BOTH linux stuff and the newest PS3 store things. Knowing that users that have the PS3 setup as a Linux test station are not using the PS3 store stuff in any case and wouldn't need the new capabilities like twitter and facebook. Also with todays GPU's the use of the cell is not as important anymore in computing clusters so really the whole things is a large non issue.
And furthermore... if the persons are so dependent on both solutions why can't they buy a secondary PS3? Presumably they are consumers and are going to spend money in the PS3 store... or more likely they wont at all.
This law suite should fail. Not that I want to be on SONY's side but they were 100% clear in their intentions regarding the "other os" option from day one.
Couldn't agree more. Even 4-6 million lines is probably fairly common and still not a big issue. One is more inclined to enter the "cut the cruft mode" sooner rather than later when its at that point.
you gotta be sh***ng me. 3D will not add anything... unless he starts doing some pretty spectacular 3D visualizations regarding the Positronic brain and psycho history... which like 0.01% of the population will understand and will cause the same 0.01% say that its not correct enough.
Surely just to be on the safe side ;-)

No Darl that is the red phone. The white phone is right beside it.
Loosely from "Airplane!"
that's not what she said *punch drum roll*
I would rather see Country Western be banned. Why you may ask? It makes me go "catatonic" because it makes me so utterly sad.

A big spanking is in order.
My toilet telling asking me... "How was your trip to Tokyo?"
or the next version that checks the stool... "Rosanna the cow hopes that she was a tasty treat!"

A PS3 80 GB in fact...
How simple is it to exchange a HD on the PS3?

You can go and play hide and seek and go .... yourself and furthermore WITH the horse you rode in on.
Amateur... I use relativity theory to extend that 172 hours and yeah in this System I still live with my parents and I am 12 years old.
Not only that, it is doing it in our general direction!
