    As always, use Disk Utility to repair permissions before and after you update. This avoids most problems.

    Repairing permissions and repairing the hard drive are two different functions. Permissions should be repaired before and after any program is installed. Hard drives need to be repaired less often.

    Ever hear of labor unions? It was economic policy that caused all the minorities to support democrats. Its true the republicans freed the slaves, but that was social policy in the 1860s. Labor union support allowed the democratic party to grow in the 1950s and still grows. This is why the republicans need the religious right vote: To counter balance the union labor vote.

    I said nothing about freedom. I am very free within this republic. I am lucky to be this free. However I am not free within a democracy.

    We call the US America, when in fact we are apart of America. See what I am getting at? If not, just because you label something, that label does not make it so. The US has become known as America and as a democracy, when in fact they are not fully so, just as your country is not fully democratic.

    I do not vote direcctly for the president. I vote for people who then vote for the president. This is the main factor making it a republic. When I directly vote for the president, then the democracy/republic line will be less important.

    I use Fire. I do not like iChat yet. It grows on me, but it hasn't won me over yet, maybe in 10.4. Messenger."

    Ram Doubler and Speed Doubler worked beautifully but became unnecessary after OS 9 was released. Surf Doubler worked well also. I never tried crashgaurd. Once OS 9 came out with more PPC code, Connectix products for speed became obsolete.

    Cut back on caffiene and late night snacks and exercise 4-5 times a week. The more the better. Since doing this I have found I sleep better and sleep less while I wake up more refreshed in the mornings. Also I am drugs for depression and anxiety. These have helped in my quest for a better healthier life.

    Sega CD
    Sega Saturn
    Sega Dreamcast


    Sega no longer sells sytems and Nintendo is headed in the same direction (unlees they have a miracle in the works), software only. Sega and Nintendo lost to Sony which coincidently kept their previous gaming market by having backwards compatability.

    You are correct in saying saying advanced degrees =! coding ability (or guarantee any actual job skills that someone without a degree might not have). But having a degree will not hurt in most cases. A degree shows that you can put time into and finish tasks. It shows you can be in it for the long hual. Second of all, PhDs at Google may be researching the feasability and profit of what you are coding. They figure out what needs to be done, while coders figure out to make it happen.

    comes from trying to support two architectures. Microsoft tried it with NT (x86, alpha, PPC) and they failed as well. I hate to say this because I used to use, and still occaisionally do, BeOS on the PPC platform. If they had started out with x86 and focused on it instead of PPC, they would have had a better chance. With PPC they could have supported the G3 and G4 but they were afraid of Apple and refused to do it without their consent.
