What is your problem with quicktime? The streaming server is not only free but the source is freely available (not common for 'spyware'), and official binaries are available for MacOS X, Red Hat, Solaris, and Windows. There are no royalties or fees of any kind. It can stream a variety of formats. The player is available for multiple platforms also and you can use other players to play QTSS/DSS streams (QuickTime Streaming Server / Darwin Streaming Server).
You're kidding, right? Bush started two wars, one for no particular reason, trashed the constitution he had sworn to protect, threatened to fire government officials if they told the truth to the public when it wasn't what he wanted, made fake news reports promoting his policies and more; and many people still think the guy will get re-elected. Some even want him to. It's insane, but I don't think weakening the GPS signal would register on anyone's political radar, if those things aren't enough.
If the militay were doing something positive for this country, I'd agree with you. But Bush (and many of his predecessors) has made it abundantly clear that the military is essentially the President's personal gang of thugs, to do his bidding with or without the agreement of the rest of the country or world. I believe we would have a much better chance of stopping terrorism if we started with the terrorism we euphemistically call 'being the world's policeman'. In their own minds, all terrorists are just standing up for their own personal beliefs. When you cross over into killing for your beliefs, when it is possible to avoid, you become the obstacle to peace.
Frankly, I would have applauded her more if she had gone ahead and videoed the anal sex scenario as well. But that's just me. I'm sure no one feels that way.
Me too. Normally I'm not a big fan of vengeance, but there are certainly exceptions. I wish our attourney general the worst imaginable pain and suffering. And the loss of all his civil rights.
Nobody wants to kill McBride. He's doing a pretty good job of destroying himself.
Uh, I beg to differ there. I am sure a lot of people actually want to kill McBride. I don't personally want to kill the guy, but to be honest its more because of the work involved and the legalities than any desire to see him live long and prosper. If someone else killed him, I would feel like partying, wouldn't you?
It's like he lives his life with the goal of doing whatever he can to piss off enough people that one of them will kill him. Maybe he has a deathwish and that's what's really behind all of this. Maybe he has a heartfelt desire to meet someone on the internet and get together to slice himself up and eat the pieces together. Maybe he is attracted to his bodyguards and likes to make them pick up kerchiefs he keeps dropping...
I mean, you are right that very few open sourcers would want to kill him themselves, possibly none. But would they mind if someone else did? I think not. If anyone ever earned it..
Too easy to change your vote after everyone else has theirs recorded. In some ways your vote is way less significant, but in others it's WAY too significant. It depends on how others vote. Imagine getting a slip of paper with an md5 hash of your dinner bill at an expensive restaurant, and you just had to trust the waiter that he wasn't skimming off the top. And if you had a dispute about the bill, they let you order again afterward.. There is a reason that doesn't happen-you'd always order the lobster the first time and the fries when the bill came and you disagreed. - paul
I have an original Rev. A TiBook 500, and I have literally carried it around on my back nearly every day for about 3 years. I'm using it to write this. If I can, I'll use it until the world ends.
Ok, my os (MacOS 10.3.2), a lot of my software, and my personal philosophy all support IPv6. Where are the publicly accessable routers? Where do I write to get an IP block assigned to me? I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for my cable company or workplace to start passing out longer IPs, the majority of the users probably have trouble with it as it is. But there has GOT to be some free service provider (ala DynDNS) passing out v6 addresses or at least agreeing to route to me if I give them my hardware assigned one and a v4 routing path.. I don't know all the details of the protocol but I doubt they would have missed the opportunity to turn all those NAT-like addresses into real, routable ones. Help!!
I've always thought it would be cool if there were a linux distro called viral linux or something similar, that could house a minimal linux system on a floppy, maybe without even a gui, but it did have the ability to install itself onto a random computer when you inserted it and rebooted -- with zero user interaction. Then once booted, every floppy inserted would become a copy of the installer floppy. Whatever would fit on the floppy could also be there to make the system a usable linux box when installed.
Substitute a CD on a computer with a CDR, and you could have a real system there. It's one way to get Best Buy to carry linux.. though the PR would probably not be entirely good:)
___disclaimer___ I am not seriously suggesting anyone create this beast. I just thought it was an interesting concept, like those parasites that require two or three different host bodies to complete their lifecycle.
I totally agree with Jackie_Chan_Fan (and Voltaire). If we can't all agree on what is comfortable, happy, and good; there is the next best thing - agreeing to disagree - and each do our best to respect, or at least ignore dissenting points of view. Our government has lost it's way here and in many other places, and the only thing that keeps hope alive in the hearts of the true freedom lovers (not the slavish and obedient patsys that the president calls freedom lovers) is our rumored ability to speak freely without fear of reprisal.
Once we are not aloud to say what we want / feel / mean, we are limited to half-assed lies and compromises. America is great in theory, but without real (and honest == unlimited) communication there is no chance of progress towards achieving it's [full] greatness in reality. If you support censorship in any form, I am proud to [be able to say] stay the fuck away from lawmaking. People with strong opinions who are not allowed to express them verbally just get more pissed off at being supressed, and end up expressing them in less productive / more harmful ways.
The best way to keep bathroom stalls from being written on is to put up a whiteboard.

Will someone PLEASE tell that to the TSA?

You are exactly right.
they did NOT give proper credit to quicktime sorensen for its obviously superior color fidelity throughout.
No, the EULA reads 'Caveat Emptor'.
Sorry, that should have been 'no one else'

God hasn't released a patch in a really long time... maybe you're right.
Direct quote from the end of the article

"Almost all attacks against our software are against the legacy systems," he said.
"If you want more secure software, upgrade."
Do they offer indemnification against rabid companies? No?
Ooooh, they must be insecure about their release.
They finally got around to funding skynet!
Somehow I figured it'd be someone like bush's group to do this
