Democrats don't have to - polling indicates that people who aren't currently registered favor Kerry by wide margins. Additionally, Voter intimidation only works in poor uneducated areas where people are unsure of thier rights. I suppose Democrats could send voter intimidators out to the backcountry, but the population density is too low to make this viable.
In short, democrats time is far better spend trying to register people [since this results in a net gain of democrats], and in voter turnout on election day [again, because people who don't turn out are more likely to vote democratic].
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that democrats are "above" the tactics republicans use, just that it happens to be the case that legal tactics are better at improving the democratic vote.
the Swift Boat Vets haven't managed to get a single person who personally served with Kerry to say anything bad about him. The best they have managed to do is people who met him once or twice. I suggest you check out www.swiftvets.org. You'll find that even those people that only met him a few times actually have said positive things about kerry until recenty. I can only assume what Swift Vets did to get them to change thier minds.
You are wrong about the NES. The NES came out a full year before the Master System [christmas of '85 instead of '86], and even though the Atari 7800 had be completed in '84, it had been shelved because of the crash. Atari brought it back in '86 when they saw how well Nintendo was doing.
I can directly address the training point and state that while the numbers are probably inflated, the statement is in fact true. During the Soviet - Afgan War in the 1980s, President Reagan and Vice President Bush funneled millions of dollars into the Moujahadeen and Bin Laden's terrorist network in order to wage a terror war against the Soviet Union. Bush Sr.'s withdraw of all support in 1989 is what prompted Bin Laden to go against the United States.
the grandparent post was absolutely correct.
Even if you do assume that its using energy stored in the magnets, then over the long term the fan or motor would stop working as the magnet was depleted of its energy.
Magnetic force can be thought of, at least for the sake of arguement here, as being a similar force as gravity - you put an asteroid in space, and you move the earth near it, and the asteroid "jumps" and falls to Earth - this is a change in potental energy, since it takes the same amount of energy released to put the asteroid back.
Going back to this motor, the magnet pulls the motor blade over, releasing energy. The problem is that it takes the same amount of energy (in a frictionless enviroment, in reality it takes even more energy) to pull the motor blade back out - in short, its impossible to get more energy out of an electric motor then you put in.
Next time, YOU should think before you post insults.
If you look at most console releases, they are October/November in the US and Feburary/March in Japan. PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox all got march releases in Japan (2000, 2001, 2002)
Don't mean to nitpick, you're mostly right, but..
Nixon was elected President in 1968, and re-elected in 1972.
He had been president for 7 months when the first moon landing occured in 1969. Nixon was asked by NASA in the early 1970s where he wanted to see the space program go.
The choices given to him were: Mars, a Moon Base, a cancelled program or The shuttle. Nixon chose the Shuttle, since, in (roughly) his words, he didn't "care about space, but it would look bad for the USA to end its space program"
wha???
India was a british colony during World War II.
The Indian army fought with the British, AGAINST the Japanese, in Burma. Gandhi himself (reluctantly) supported the British.
I believe there were a very small number of defectors who fought in a special japanese regiment, but you can't say India was an axis ally during the war, by ANY stretch of the imagination.
BTW, I know if you RTFA, it says the access is for visitors too, but thats just PR bullshit. You have to have thier VPN client installed and have your MAC address registered with access services.
I am a student at Case, and these wireless points are all "secured" - that is, you have to have a wireless card with an approved MAC address in order to use any of these APs, so the original poster was incorrect - this will have absolutely no effect on the greater Cleveland area.... no free internet.
I meant force everything into one kind of tax - namely income tax. You would pay seperate Federal, State and county income taxes, which would replace current sales, property and misc. taxes
Um, what are you talking about? When Johnson started the war on poverty, the poverty rate was 15%. When he left office, it was 7%. The poverty rate has crept back up ever since then because republicans have gutted out Johnson's programs, ending the "War on Poverty" and starting the "War on Drugs" instead.
This is why I'm against sales taxes, because you end up being taxed for earning the money AND spending it. In fact, if I were in charge I would consolodate all taxes into the income / payroll tax (in a progressive way, of course)
its not like 3do didn't try though. They actually released Heroes 3 for the Playstation 2 under the title "Heroes of Might and Magic: The quest for the dragonbone staff". Kinda makes it clear why they went under, if you ask me.
The Aral Sea used to be considered freshwater (the salt content was low enough to make the water drinkable) but because of its realitively recent reduction in size, the salt has become concentrated, turning the sea from fresh to salt water.

heh, I think its funny. Too bad you don't have a sense of humor.
I believe they are referring to the Xbox price cut from 179 to 149, which was in April.

oh yeah, I forgot, because the sentencing is 100 years for crack to 1 year for coke.... gee, I wonder why that is?
no, its Everyone except rich white republicans
The Opeteron is optimized for servers and the Athlon 64 (and the 64 FX) are for home use / gaming, respectively
The real question is how does the G5 stack up against a top of the line Athlon 64 FX? Comparing it to old Macs, or to a P4 is kinda pointless.

Coor! Blimey! no wonder they only scored 4%. What a bunch of Twonks.

Wow, I'm not the only person in Rochester (besides my friends) who reads slashdot?

um, you mean KE = 1/2mv^2. its the squared that makes all the difference.
