On windows aim, if both people have microphones plugged in, you can click the talk button, and you'll connect with voice. This has been around in aim longer than iChat has existed. I don't have a windows box/webcam to try this on, but perhaps you have to enable talk and video at the same time for it to work?
Yes. It is, mostly because I know what all of those mean (I watch football on occassion). You can do the same thing with technical terms (IP, TCP/IP, GNU, SCO, PS/2, USB, 802.11b, etc) and it will be just as confusing if the person doesn't know what they mean.
To put it shortly, it's to get your foot in the door. With internships, you're almost guaranteed to get a job (who would turn down free labor?) and in doing so you're getting work experience. They're good for college students to get so they can have things to put on their resumes.
I'm not sure how labor laws and minimum wage laws affect it though.
Well I am really surprised at the amount of crap he got (sans the t-shirt of course). I mean really, an x-box? They were going to give him $10, weren't they?
Hmm.
1. Register domain that gets large corporation pissed. 2. ? 3. Have large corporation send you gifts. 4. Profit
I also thought it was about Final Fantasy. My first thought was there was a method of purchasing things in that game that could be construed as prior art to one of Amazons patents. Too bad the real story is quite a bit more boring.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. They'll equate your "voting with your wallet" as "sales lost due to piracy", because it makes them look like the little guy and it's practically impossible to prove. This always paves the way for legislation such as the one recently made in Canada (tax on all mp3 players/CD-R's).
Personally I haven't boughten an RIAA CD in years. Now I buy all my music vinyl and download. That way, it's perfectly legal, I get a lot more, I get it cheaper, and $0 goes to the RIAA.
Ah, to be able to kick back in the den on a summer's evening, watching the sun sink slowly below the horizon, and then *CLICK* Matrix Re-re-re-reloaded, without even having to move my eyeballs!
That would look very strange from the outside. And even if they somehow make this one-way, that would be quite creepy seeing a whole family stare out a window. I won't even mention pr0n.
On the US $20, the pattern appears using the zeros from the repeated background "20"s, or so I've read (I haven't personally verified it).
I found this highly interesting, so I pulled out a new 20. And WOW. It definitely looks like it. Follows nearly the same exact pattern. Go find a new 20 and look for yourself.
No. He played it at 1/30th speed with tons of quicksaves. It was not like quake done quick, which was also fake. A real speed movie is played from start to finish at normal speed on a real console (see the metroid speed runs).

I actually thought this was kinda funny. Although you're forgetting something. AOL kiddies are v3ry f4m1l14r to the numb3r p4d, if you catch my drift.
I can just see them now, typing out the persons name.
Mine decodes to "Buy more Ovaltine"
Bud. Weis. Where?

Very little, it seems
I've been using vB boards too long. Ugh.
Here's a correct link
Um...

I have comcast and they don't block port 80. Take a look for yourself. No

I prefer George Bush's

At first I thought this was a troll (and an obvious one at that), but then I actually read all of it. Funny stuff.

The "BEETLE iPOS".
Is it just me or are truth in advertising laws getting kinda strict?
The backlight the poster was referring to is the light in the screen that makes you able to see it (and lights up the nifty apple logo).
Hold F1 until the little bar goes all the way down to see what it's like with the backlight off. To turn it back on, hold F2.
I'm sure my stereo will love that.
Unfortunately yes. If you show off though, you can still wear a thong.
Even more interesting name. I can see the advertisements now. "Weed, the legal alternative to KaZaA"
