You shouldn't bad mouth a project just because you don't agree with it. I happen to think RC5 is a waste of time, but I don't have a go at the poeple running the clients. It's their choice, the same as it's mine to run the SETI client.
SETI is big news at the moment. I would surmise that this is the reason this particular project is getting so much bad attention. It has a lot of good things going on too though.
It s friday afternoon. I'm tired. I'm faced with the prospect of spending a lot of money to fix my car. This damn perl script is driving me nuts. Yes, I give up that easily.;)
America will always have a gun problem, because it's legal to own the damn things. Here it isn't. It doesn't stop criminals using guns just the same as making drugs illegal hasn't stopped drug taking. You're looking at it from the wrong angle.
There appear to be some focusing issues. The scrollbars tend to flash terribly when moving over any of the widgets. Its only an annoyance though.. and it seems that Mozilla is on the road to becoming usable.
I hate to admit that Linux might not be the right OS for the intended project.
Why? Surely Linux can't be expected to fill every OS niche out there. It seems to me that peole what Linux to be able to do everything. It cannot. There are some solutions to certain problems that don't involve Linux. I'm a Linux user myself, but I'm not blind to the fact that it isn't perfect. Then again, what is?

Thank god for FreeBSD. One distribution, released 4 times a year. How very very SANE.
Change the record. The linux kernel is released on a regular basis. The distibutions of Linux are a completely different thing. And bashing on Linux users because they have a new kernel to play with is sheer stupidity. Has it occurred to any of you that some people actually like being able to use brand new hardware almost straight away, rather than having to wait up to 3 months for it? Above all, its fun. Stop fucking complaining about it. You don't use it, so whats the problem?

Why does BSD look appealing just because another distro has appeared? I agree it's probably a bad thing, but why does it affect your current system?
What programs are you using that shouldn't have titlebars? Window Maker seems to unerstand any hints that my programs give it. X11amp/xmms doesn't have title bars when I run it. Thats good enough for me.
Lets just hope they don't have the problems that RHAD have had with trouble in the ranks. I only hope that they are going to do something useful and not just use it for publicity (which RedHat did to a certain extent, although they have produced some good stuff).

Yeah, to those who have been stupid enough to read about it. I haven't. I know fuck all anbout it, and thats the way I'd like it to stay until I've seen the film. And no, no-ones making me read it. But if its on the front page I don't have much choice unless I block *all* Star Wars articles.
I'm not asking you to not talk about it. I'm just saying that hinting heavily about what happens on the front page is not necessary. I've avoided reading any of the comments on Star Wars articles because I don't want to spoil my enjoyment of the film. But I don't want to block the articles completely. It would just be nice to leave the hints off the front page. Thats all.
There is a world outside of the US. Some of us havn't seen this movie yet, and the comments about Darth Maul's clone seems to give the game away a little. Could you please be a little more careful in future Rob?
Look at the testosterone fly! Anyone else think we are getting bogged down in politics here? If you agree with ESR or not, the title of that reponse says it all. Lets code and be happy.
Surely this means that X will have to be setup before you can actually install Linux. Yes, probably the standard VGA driver will do the job, but this is still another thing to go wrong before the installation even begins...
So will a copy of this book be available online for download? Thats what the "free" means in this context, doesn't it? Not everyone has the money to buy programming books, and half of those I own I never look at anyway. Online documentation is generally better.

I don't think this is pixmap themes in the GTK sense. If I remember correctly, all themes are implemented using a dynamic library via virtual functions. These libraries can use pixmaps themselves if they wish. Correct me if I'm wrong on this, it was a while since I read it.

What would be the point of booting into Windows to use the scroll wheel when you'd be using different programs anyway? Duh!

You missed the I out. It's generally Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks, although I've seen other words for the I.
