Right now the site looks more like a handy resource than one for generating revenue. There's only one text ad on the front page, and all the links go direct to the torrents. That the submitter owns the site however, is a little suspect. Probably not good form to self-promote in this manner, but they could have always submitted as an AC.
I don't know if 3d adds anything to the game. I know these are still early screens, but from the maps it's obvious that there's a grid behind the 3d terrain, and it ends up looking very artificial. Civ3 looked much better than these shots.
You might want to try a BT setup that uses a different port than the default. I'm on the same service and have never noticed a link between BT usage and DNS activity.
What, are we on the side of stealing? I thought we just wanted legit uses of technology to not get banned because they're used by some people for theft?
I agree with the parent, but one feature that would be handy is the ability to create mailing lists from the address book. Yahoo Mail does this but Thunderbird doesn't seem to have the option.
Who wants to bet that the word 'pwned' appears at least once? As in:
"The crux of the emotional impact of this game is clear: achieving the stated goal of the game, that is, to defeat your similarly-armed enemy in an equal contest, and utilizing the chat key in the 'pre-game' stage of the subsequent round, broadcasting to every player the following statement, to signify your dominance over your chosen opponent: pwned."
Inspiration is where you find it. To their generation it was probably Verne or even comics. I think Buck Rogers was on the air in the 50s, when Armstrong and company were young.
Higher than 99 cents? Only if I can get it in the format and quality I want. Only if I have a permanent right to have the song at my disposal.
You should already have a choice of format and quality, and this right, when buying a song at 99 cents. Otherwise, what are you buying, exactly? If downloading a song without permission from the copyright holder is theft, then songs are property, and the sale of a song should give you certain permanent rights over what is now your property.
These people made one of my all-time favourite games: Arcanum. Too bad they didn't release the rights to it before vanishing, I guess they're held by Sierra anyway. I'd like to see an open-source version of this game, with some working multiplayer!
Good idea, but too short; if he's going to lift the lid on some forgotten but important games, I'd like more detail, and perhaps a screenshot or three. Right now it's more like a clip than a full review, and I imagine that a lot of the games he'll be covering deserve more than a few comments and a picture of the cartridge.
Amen to that. Snooze until the bigs mods hit and then fire up ye-old HL2 again. I doubt I'll ever see the inside of the single player levels again, unless some mod borrows prefabs from them or something.
I think the "90% of everything is crap" ratio comes into effect here. There are still some great movies released, you have have to look for them. Even if the game industry gets overwhelmed with 1001 "me too!" clonegames, good games will still be produced. Even mods can create a great game experience, even if the original game wasn't so hot. You just have to ignore the crap.
I wonder is Mr. Hunt is an associate of Amanda Hugginkis?

I, for one, welcome our new Sino-Overlords.
That is, of course, until their tanks interrupt your shopping trip.
How long until someone installs Doom 3 and we finally find out what it looks like with all the features turned on?
Probably accounts for the multimedia content referenced by wikipedia pages. Add up all the images and sounds, and you'd fill two DVDs easily.

How is this offtopic? Moderate me surprised...
This and Order of the Stick are the two webcomics that I like enough to invest my money in a harcopy version of their work.

They printed out what they had of the source code and dropped it on the floor. Bang.
The first rule of slashdot is: you do not talk about solutions to the slashdot effect.
Any guesses as to the second rule?

What in frak's name do you need 65536 rows for?

Shouldn't Slashdot have questioned a ffp that uses italics and bold for its editorial?
Ah yes, then perhaps MS would have had to donate more of their own software in restitution for their abuse of monopoly. That'll teach 'em.

2024. The downfall and destruction of every virtual world is traced to a single /. post from early 2005. The bounty is set at 500,000 NewDollars.
