I am currently residing in South Korea and when they show American movies here they use Korean voice overs and english subtitles. So the voices and speech is Korean and the subtitles are Engrish. Most of the time the translation is horrible. As a matter of fact most English translations in Korea are very bad.
Ok so if I make a site devoted to movie reviews it then gets noticed, then I get invited to many advanced movie screenings and get to meet the stars... Then I think I can do the same with a site devoted to video games so I can get all my games free without needing to download them from warez sites... Somewhere along the lines I think they have lost thier original mission and are now out for themselves and not the fans. Besides do we really need ANOTHER website devoted to video games?
I have been living in Korea now for about 10 months and one thing I have noticed is that EVERYTHING here is owned by Samsung. Not only do they have some of the coolest gadgets here too. Although I have no use for a device of this nature and neither do most americans, it seems we are still having trouble embracing these types of multifunctional devices. On the other hand, the Koreans love them. I suppose as long as the Koreans still embrace what thier number one employer is producing, Samsung will keep making outrageous multifunction devices. Personally I am content with my Sanyo VHS-C camcorder! Yes I said Sanyo.
I do not doubt the existance of crop circles, but when I saw the ET/Disc picture I could not stop laughing. It is an obvious hoax. I don't mean a rope and 2x4 hoax either. It is a blatent Photoshoped photo. it wasn't even done that good. I saved the pic to my HD then used photoshop to check it out and sure enough it has multiple layers. I guess not only is it a slow nes day for/., but also for the circle hunters. Next time they should just stick with the tried and true circle format. Or who knows we may just see the/. logo in the crops...
I am currently living in South Korea, serving a remote tour for the US Air Force. I do not pay taxes on base. When I purchase stuff online and it has to be sent to my APO address I get taxed with the outrageously high California tax, just because my APO address begins there and is then shipped over here. I am not a resident of the state of California, so there for I am not represented by the government there, which leads to the reason this country was founded on "Taxation without representation". Why should I support a state that I have nothing to do with? I have never even visited California, and probably never will until they change thier smoking laws. Of course this is just my uneducated opinion, but I am sure the bureaucrats see it differently and only care about the money coming in.
Since when has anyone seen the cable companies LOWER thier prices, I think this just gives them another reason to RAISE thier already high prices. Giving everyone the opertunity to purchase thier own STBs will cause them to have a plethora of thier own STBs laying around collecting duat and not generating rental fees. I will stick with my DirecTV.

Sun vs. OpenBSD?

· Score: 5, Insightful
I agree completely with Sun on this one. They have to make a buck, and when a free OS comes along wanting to utilize its systems and take away from its revenue. I work with Sparc 10 systems everyday, and I have come to love the Solaris system, it is pretty flawless and is specifically designed for the Ultra Sparc architecture. Plus, many people the utilize the Sparc Systems with Solaris use specifically written programs for the Solaris systems and are designed in house, this OpenBSD system could be hell on those programmers and Sys Admin.
Man, I wish I was going to be back in the states at that time, I would love to attend a good Open Source rally! I hope this goes over well. This could be great for the OS movement.
This article is not nearly as irrelevent as you think. Not everyone has $800-$1000 just laing around to buy a new PC. Sure you could go and get it financed though Dell, and pay an outrageous interest rate. Everyone I know has a computer and I do not know anyone who has anything over a 1.8GHz. Hell, I am still running a PIII 1GHz (and no, I did not inherit this PC from my parents). It is just not feesable for most people to slap down nearly a grand for a new PC, when the one you have will run everything pretty damn good. I am sure if you did a/. poll you would realize that most people do not have the latest systems. So therefore, this article is very relevent.
What?!? How can you not find Mac games or know what is "hot or not"? Obviously you have access to the internet. If you cannot find Mac games online, then you are spending too much time on Slashdot. Remember there are other sites out there.
We are in the age of information, electronic information for that matter. This could be the start of a very big trend. Publicationscan save millions by providing their pubs online with a nominal subscription fee. Of course there will always be those who prefer their hard copy.
Since the site is already/.ed i cannot read more about this or see any pics, but I have to wonder what good 12 bit technology would still be good for. I guess perhaps you could run a basic linux system with it, but what else?
Of course this whole Government DNA collection sounds scary, but they have been doing it to thier military members for years now. They take a sample of every members DNA and other Biometric information and keep it stored in a large database. It is considered the new high tech dog-tags. I don't like the idea of them wanting to do this to the general public though. We alread use the Biometric system to identify members who have lost thier ID or need to log on to a workstation.
Is something like this really worth it for the consumer? If a grocery store purchases these to replace thier current fleet of shopping carts than perhaps they will have to raise thier prices on their products to account for the price of all those carts. So when you go down the aisle and you see that the peanut butter is on sale, are you really saving money or is the sale price the same price that it used to be before they purchased all those carts?
Wait doesn't tech and media work together already? For instance, TechTV, Downloadable movie trailers, and sites like abc.com. Perhaps he wants more services like MS Ultimate TV?
Major downfall (no pun intended)

With no ability to glide after engine failure, I cannot see the military putting forth much effort (or $$) in an aircraft of this nature, but then again Helocoptors are the same way and we have thousands of those. Besides, I think the military has enough aircraft in its arsenal as it is, we don't need another one to maintain.
I can understand some of your concerns. I think if I had an option like this, I would only order dry goods (i.e. cereal, crackers, chips, etc...). I would still go to the corner "Mom & Pop" "Brick & Mortar" butcher. I would know exactly what quality of meats I would be getting and I would still be contributing to the small business folk. I do like the idea of delivered groceries though.
AWESOME! I would never have guessed that Dreamworks would be using Open Source. This is definately a BIG step in the right direction for the Open Source movement. Now with the possible onset of a Film GImp, I am sure Apple is shaking in their iBoots! Now it would be nice to see Dreamworks make a "sizeable" contribution to the Open Source community, but some how I see them using more than 300 systems as more than enough.

Let me be thhe first to say it:
"Downloading music on Kazaa causes me to go buy CDs, I just like to preview the songs first"
come on you know you all were thinking it...
The Nvidia FX is amazing, but it will be interesting to see what ATI can do with the next gen Radeon if they too can get down to .13 microns...

So does this mean that there could be millions of unidentified bacteria in space waiting to infect our planet. Sounds like a bad B movie...

I vote for Adam/Eve...seems to fit.
So what if this thing goes tragically bad?!? Did anybody see that episode of the Twilight Zone? Oh nevermind.

I tried to fit my Microsoft EULA in my pocket but it was to heavy.
