I felt that TTT was cut more harshly than FOTR was... things didn't flow as smoothly, things were more jarring.
I don't think there was really any way to avoid this, as unlike FOTR the heroes are split into several groups. In FOTR you're just following the fellowship and the villains, in TTT there are Frodo/Sam/Gollum, Merry and Pippin, and the events in Rohan.
I for one do not look forward to the wrongful-death lawsuit attacking Microsoft for not making it impossible to mod the controller in this manner. God, who would we root for?
I can't believe there are any physical components involved in a modern wireless phone network. Ports that consist of entries in a database/routing table don't fail.
Um... It's exactly the same process used. Or do you think Serkis really looks like Gollum?:P
The difference of course is that the digital Neo just fights at high speed while the digital Gollum has many close-up/dramatic scenes, but it's still the same motion-capture technology.
1% of the largest economy in the world is not exactly chump change. I'm sure GE is comparable to some of the smaller third-world countries, at least. I agree that that doesn't make them a superpower, and they aren't going to commit any acts of conquest while they're still part of the US, but it's not as impossible as it was a while ago.
(And let's not forget the British East India Company, which effectively owned the lower half of Asia for a while.)
Well, for a start I have lost track of the number of times individual machines on Wireless simply 'drop out' of communication, leading to perception on the part of our customers that this isn't a reliable , responsible technology.
How is this perception incorrect? Either the network is reliable or it's not, and which it is is obvious to any observer.
I think a large part of the unreality of CG is due to the fact that they are showing things that you know to be absolutely impossible (like Jabba the Hutt). Your brain just can't get over that fact, so it will never look as real as something you can tell yourself is a real, physical object. However, when I saw the first footage from Final Flight of the Osiris, I didn't yet know that it was CG, and it took some convincing for a friend to get me to realize it wasn't live-action.
In response to 1, the flipside is that the Xbox uses C, DirectX, and Windows APIs while the PS2 is hell to optimize for.

Actually, Daneel was invented in The Caves of Steel. And Brunner may have invented cyberpunk, but Gibson perfected it and made it what we know it as today in Neuromancer.
The other side of the MUD social contract was that wizards were supposed to use their powers only on players who deserved it, and when they weren't doing that work on improving the game. Not to mention that wizardly power had to be earned, by either positively contributing to the game or just being a respected player. None of that applies to these hackers.

Purely out of curiosity, how much current is required to cause significant physical damage to the body (aside from being dead)?
I dunno... I'd kill to get to a Marathon lanparty hosted by some Bungie-community old-timer.
MTV is an underground subculture? That must be why they play all those music videos from independent artists with an innovative sound.

Apple did not prevent LAN streaming. They prevented *Internet* streaming. You can still stream to the same subnet.
Perhaps they finally realized that the Cubic principle is perfect.
And you thought that was a joke...
Most colleges have a clause in the TOS forbidding the use of college resources for commercial purposes. This would probably be covered under them.

Fucking american In economic output, and IN THE CONTEXT OF THE THREAD, fucking AC.
Excellent idea... We could always use another Intrepid.

Good, now I'll wait until you put the earplugs in to sneak up behind you with the fire ax.

That is why Pixar set up the massively parallel "render farm".

Only us geeks care about being able to copy DVDs. But remember, consumers *did* reject DivX.

Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time"
He asked for a good summer read, not a good decade read.

Then it will probably refuse to boot at all.
Isn't this what the reply-to field is for?
You could also run your own SMTP server, unless you're on a modem at home or something.
