Well, technically, the third gen iPods have had recording capability. You go into the debug menu and its got a test for the record capabilites. I'm sure that in a few months time (with the release of panther perhaps?) Apple will do a firmware update for the 3rd gen ipods that enables it. So patience grasshopper. All good things come to those who wait.
A) Stuntman was not the sequel to Driver, Driver 2 was the sequel to driver.
b) Stuntman's "difficulty" mostly came from the fact that the game didn't tell you what you needed to do in a level until half a second before you had to do it, and then if you messed up forced you to start over at the beginning of a level. That's a flaw in gameplay and presentation, not a game being overly challenging.
And there is a difference between a game being difficult and challenging. difficult makes you smash controllers in frustration, challenging makes you want to come back and beat what you're stuck at. Its a difficult balance to strike, and what seperates good games from the great games.
That video card won't work without a lot of hassle (and even then I don't think it will). You'll have to have a PC to flash mac firmware to it. Assuming that you can get new mac firmware to flash to it. The fastest 3d PCI card you can get for the Mac is the Radeon 7000 PCI. I'm too lazy to find a link but I think its about $120.
Interact, I believe, made a thing called a dexdrive that let you put save games from the internet onto a memory card. I'd bet that it would work. I'm sure there are other similar devices that would also work.
Yes, but if you try and run XP on a 233 Celery, everything will still work. You'll have video card drivers, and I don't know if they claim DVD playback , but it will work (the minimum specs for that might be higher). Apple said that OS X will work in the same capacity on all G3 or greater macs (speed issues not withstanding). Turns out it doesn't. That's what this lawsuit was about.
that important work becomes subject to the wihms of the populace.
Yes, damn the government for listening to its citizens.
There are a lot of reasons for this, greedy companies trying to do too much with what they've got, liberals/environmentalists/NIMBYists not allowing companies to expand what they've got to further be expolited. There's no panacea for this kind of stuff, both sides need to change. which is the real problem as neither side wil admit that they are wrong.
Doom 3 was very similar to HL1 in premise to start with
One could make the argument that Half-life was very similar to Doom 1 & 2. Scientists working on transportation technology accidently create rift in space-time allowing bad things to come through, one man must fight them to save the world. Granted the storytelling of Half-life was way beyond Doom, but the story they told was pretty similar.
simply because they wouldn't want to focus attention on a console that isn't coming out for over a year.
Just like Sony didn't start the hype machine for the PS2 more than a year before it shipped in Japan. Part of the reason that the PS2 did so well in the beginning, is that Sony had people drooling for it for more than a year before it came out. Then they artificially increased demand by lowering the number of consoles they shipped to the US. Thus giving the impression that everybody and their brother was waiting on one when it came out. Its all marketing. I think Nintendo has given up on dominating this round of consoles and is going the Sony route of overhyping things, with an attempt to get out before everybody else. Hopefully it works.
Well, amazingly enough, its called the RIAA. Just because a label isn't one of the big 5 doesn't mean its not a RIAA member. Granted truly independant and unsigned artists don't have an organization like this, but the RIAA doesn't just represent the major labels.
Dean is actually an interesting mix of left and right
yeah, that's called moderate. Dean is just using the exodus of the Democrat party from the gap between moderate democrats and the Greens to gain support. This is what every canidate does for the primary. That's how you get the nomination, go for the die hards of your party, then move to the center to appeal to teh wider audience that is needed to win the presidency. Intresting strategy, but its too early to see if it will win him the election.
If you do not, there's a rather low-quality substitute that is entirely free for anyone to use.
And this is the problem. if it was just an engine to play WC2, then the name would be the only problem. It'd be like scummVM. the fact that they basically re-implimented WC2 and made their own graphics to go with it is where the confusion came in.
because you don't need a legit WC2 CD to play, defeats the interoperability arguement. and creates the confusion that Blizzard is trying to stop.
the fact that 10.1 was "free". of course by free, I mean that you could go to an apple store and get an upgrade or pay 20 bucks to get the CD shipped to you, but that's a moot point compared to the 79 or 129 prices of 10.2. In all honesty 10.3 will probably be pay, as its another upgrade like 10.2 was i.e. lots of under the hood, and a few new/upgraded apps. I still say bring it on though.
Because the Diablo II 1.10 patch was supposed to be out "real soon now" (tm) for over year. All my friends that play D2 have been complaining that Blizzard shifted all their focus away from D2 to Warcraft III and so the 1.10 patch became something like Duke Nukem Forever albeit on a much smaller scale.
Yeah, the first thing I thought after 9/11 was, "God, I hope they don't set up UNATCO now." I watch for snipers now too, and ponder how I'd walk across the quad at school without being seen, set up a sniper post and shoot people coming out of class, freakyily immersive game it is. I'm not sure if that or the fact I can't walk down stairs without thinking "JET GRIND RADIOOOOOOOOOOOO" and thinking about how I'd have to time my jumps to grind down the rails. man I need to get out more.
No, they've dropped the mx moniker and are doing everything by model number like ATI has been. The High end GeForce FX is the FX 5800. There are 5800s, 5600s, and 5200s. 268. Pricewise too.
When the GC came out, Nintendo said that they would eventually have an SD card reader. I'm supprised that it took this long for it to come out, but hey its all good, right?
yes but as all polls are they are voluntary and will only be filled out by those compelled to do so. I'd imagine that more people with computers are conservative (because not all people have them) and that would be one reason to see conservative tendancy in online polls. There's nothing to suggest that those people on the online polls are not already voting normally and given that they are compelled to vote in online polls you can't say that the majority of people that would take advatange of e-voting would be conservative. (say yay for research methods and statistics)
All of that means that the reasons for voter apathy are not inherent in the way that elections are taken out. because of the high cost of information and being involved and up to date on the issues within a campaign, it is more difficult for voters to make eduated choices and therefore end up voting for the "canidate with the best smile" as has been said in other posts. Changing how one voters for this isn't going to solve the problem that people just aren't going to educate themselves enough to make an informed choice. (blah blah similar canidates, see above)
yes, while Duverger's Law does account for the two major party system in SMPDs, it is not because of voter apathy. If there are three parties in a newly formed democracy, lets call them A, B and C, originally enough. A is slightly left of center, B is centrist and C is slightly right of center Suppose A gets 45% of the vote, B gets 40%, and C gets 35%. A wins right? Ok so next election cycle comes around. Assuming that nothing major has happened in the country, like all conservatives being rounded up and drowned (i.e. the population's preferences for canidates are not very much different than before). because B and C are similarly aligned, they will combine and form a new party (lets call it D) which will crush A given that those who allied with B AND C would then vote for D. So D wins.
As is said on your link, which doesn't really explain what this effect is. Duverger's law leads to situations like we saw with Nader and Gore in the 2000 presidential elections. Without Nader, those that voted for him probably would have voted for Gore, if those two groups (green and Democrats) would have joined together, then Gore would have won Flordia with out question, and things would be slightly different than they are now. The same thing happened in 1992 with Bush 1 and Perot.
you presume that the technologically aware individuals make up a large enough block in all districts that it would matter for the politicians to pander to you. that may be true for national (i.e. presidential) elections, but not for the local elections.
but the average mum & dad & 2.5 kids that have just bought a computer to write some letters up or send some email
If they just bought the computer they probably already paid for windows with the computer. Unless they feel the need to upgrade their OS, and how many of them really do? If they need the newest version of windows to stay compatable, they'd probably just end up buying a new system (which we're at the end of that unless M$ institutes massive feature bloat, more so than now at least)
they're going to stick to the copy of whatever that came with the computer.

PSO was tied to the original dreamcast that played it, I don't know if there is a way to reset it.

I'll bet most of those files sold were sold to Mac users. Yeah especially since you can't run iTMS on anything other than Mac OS X

Gah, replying to my own post.

Yes, because the amount that the Government is spending is directly tied to how much the parent makes per hour, week, month AND year.
