how highly microsoft thinks of its customers; well I guess most of those who can spell m-i-c-r-o-s-o-f-t are l-i-n-u-x users;
nah, no intention of flaming; just leave the kid alone; getting worried abt linux - granted; get worried abt a 17yr old web-designer - PARANOIA
MS can afford a measly $10g; keeo the kid happy, keep the public happy and don't worry about your customers' spelling profeciency;)
the internet is still a relatively infantile concept; rules are not rigid, and everyone's feeling their way around - with standards being reviewed and re-written everyday. The future may as well be as how the author claims it to be; the net surfers of today, the slashdotters will be looked upon in the future as we do at the hippies - they had their sex and drugs - we have/had any data/information we wanted. This DOES NOT mean that I disapprove of today's internet; after all who has the right to decide on our behalf - what we can know and what we can not. But with mega-organizations like RIAA pushing harder for stringent rules(yes,though they can claim to have a valid concern), I won't be surprised if our grandkids point fingers at us and say "hey - in your days, couldn't you look up how to make bombs and hack and even look at naked women?"
about a few issues-
(1) Whoever goes to the moon next - should find the flag left behind the astronauts (right?)
(2) It is kinda early to worry about, but how will extra-planetary real estate be organized? First come first serve? (yah, a lota land rite now - but what about the next 50 yrs or more)
Assimov comes to mind, he painted this horrific image of colonies on other planets - looking down on earth and earthlings - and finally milliniums later - refuse to believe that life originated on a single planet.....
As we plan for the future, we don't look far enough into the future (nucleur weapons and global warming being immediate examples)
you would download only 2 songs too... maybe not even the 2.. unless you had made sure that this too good to be true event was not a setup by the RIAA to get the money you don't yet have.
passengers that i feel sorry for; it is the US Govt - being overly paranoid,,living under constant stress (i shall refrain from saying "fear"), spending millions of $ on security, new procedures, and measures like this database. The more they embaress, prod and trouble people of different cultures, more the ill-will and resentment will be generated. People will NOT sympathise with their worries anymore (which people do as of now).
I can understand the governmen's concerns and responsibilties, but they'll have to be careful and make sure that they do NOT overdo such processes.
Microsoft is saying this AFTER HP and apple have decided to add WMA support to the iPods;
my two cents; if microsoft comes out with a better product, with all the features they promise - they have nothing to worry about - BUT HOW CAN they whine about a product just because it is good and it is not theirs?
the Internet Protocol Address verifier get into the hands of the RIAA.. we would not want more 12 yr olds and college students being fined ridiculous amounts, would we?:D
unfortunate that competition brings out the best in man;
the space race compounded by the cold war got man into space and on the moon
now, we're realizing the dream of mars, as NASA and ESA have been trying to get their probes on the martian terrain
AND,we already have x p r i z e happening, which i'm sure will succeed in achieving their objectives.
achtung space! the humans are coming!
mistake. They're troubling the wrong people. It is all an issue on the Rating system.
If they sue, then the rating system is just a few words written on a piece of paper and nothing more. They should bring into confidence, software retailers and distributers. Maybe one will have to show an ID to prove their age before being able to buy the game, but its better than not getting the game at all. If we can do that for beer, we can do that for our games.
i'm surpised that no-one brought up tekwar. It was a sci-fi series authored by William Shatner and revolved around these druglords that dealt in a deadly mega-virus called Tek.
They apparantly even had a TV thingy on Tekwar starring Shatner's daughter
Though, I must confess, I never read or saw tekwar, I played Tekwar. It was a game made using a highly modified Build (duke3d)engine.. and was gr8 fun playing.. gunfire was exchanged in banks, subways, offices, and even on top of moving vehicles like trucks and boats....
And to think his music is more popular!!
but then someone will create the car buster buster, then they will create the car buster buster buster... it is a viscious cycle
the guy with the extra buster will win this recursive battle;)
There is no end to what ifs.....
For example, if a charecter being simulated in a 13th floor styled simulation, did not understand the concept of wireframes (when he reaches the "edge" of the simulated world), would he consider it abnormal?
Similarly, in our "real world", space - the outer void - the vaccum - can be a means of conserving memory by being empty space, so that the "system" is able to process high detailed simulations on planets.... maybe only one planet has life (simulated) because the "system" is only capable of processing the complex simulations of one such biosphere
All i'm trying to say is that it's possible to come up with innumerable theories.. its exciting, it stimulates are brains, but HOW SERIOUSLY are we supposed to take them?
posted the official home page. It can be found here
They're interesting in hiring, and apparantly the show will be staged only in 2005, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the trilogy..
was to be made to look like the slow and the sluggish...or so the w. bros had claimed..... has the movie lived up to this reputation???
I've seen a few of the animatrixes... the first one sucked.. second one onwards they got much better.....
Any1 seen the Flight of the Orisis?? Have been dying to see that.... it apparantly had been attached to dreamcatcher in the States... would love to watch it.. its 3d rendered instead of conventional anim...
They are supposed to have released the game "Enter the Matrix" too in conjuction with the movie.....
the WHY is that the divxs of this movie are already available on all your neighbourhood friendly peer2peer networks?
rips of pre-release DVDs??? or pirated camera prints? Unfortunately, I have a slo connx, but I hear that these divxs were the real thing... DVD print... something is amiss here.....
The hulk looks HUGE... even larger than in the comic/toon. But, this stuff does look impressive. I wonder how real/unreal/surreal it will look on the large screen.. I hope it don't look cheap and monster inc.. ish...
During my experiments with various Linux Distros, I came across Lycoris, it was build47 if I remember correctly. First, I, as many others, was under the impression that Lycoris was for sale only. Later I found out that the unsupported version is available for download, for free from their ftp. Installation was a breeze - The SOLITARE game during installation was a nifty innovation, which made the installation seem to be extremely fast. The desktop was a standard KDE desktop. However the icons were nice XP styled icons. Infact, for icon design help, they LINK you to the XP icon design site!!
The downer: Linux is like am ugly looking hotrod, which is slowly getting its body work done. Under the hood, you expect to find this really powerful engine. Lycoris howeverm hides this engine under many layers and this makes it tougher to play around with.
Lycoris is an good starter/newbie distro - and seems to be more feasible than Lindows, as of now. Xandros however has dollops of value addition thanks to crossover office, which helps a lot of desktop users.
RUMOUR: Office 2003 Disclaimer: This license forbids the user from running this package on Unix, Linux and any of their derivatives.... LMAO

the concept of a World-wide LAN. Oh wait a second, it's called the Internet !!!
