    The board game predates Civ I by a good bit. It's a fun game, but not what I would call a war game. Closer to Settlers of Catan than Risk.

    It's not that the ARM architechture doesn't have Memoery Management, it's that there is no dedicated Memory Management Unit on the microprocessor, so the kernel has to do all the work for memory management, rather than just telling to MMU to do the I/O.

    Not quite. The -march flags in gcc will change the ABI so that the programs can only run on that (or better) cpus. Debian compiles with the -mcpu flags which organizes intruction to be nice to certain processors (align on WORD boundaries and whatnot) without actually breaking the support for lower processors. Debian will still boot on a true 386 machine, but you'd have to be a masochist to want that.

    Standard Mini-Itx (Eden, Nehemiah, etc) are 17cm x 17cm. This board is 12cm x 12cm, which is roughly half the size.

    if you pass a --prefix= argument to the ./configure step, it wil install the app to where you set the prefix (defaults to /)

    It's mainly that true Marxist communism is an economic theory, and not a political system. Marxist-Leninism, OTOH, has been viewed as what "True Communism" is to the sheepish West. It's so easy to demonize a demonic institution like totalitarianism, and label that as the "Axis of Evil" (1.0)

    I have always enjoyed the fact that the creators of DOOM are from my hometown. In fact, Romero graduated from my roommate's highschool. Little trivia like that always pays off sometime.

    It has also always amused me that these guys basically wrote their first games while they were supopsed to be working. Makes you think it just might be okay to read the occasional slashdot post at work, eh?

    I read an article in a certain magazine a few months back about how the f/(os)s CdParanoia can be used to thwart this new copy prevention scheme. Since cdparanoia was designed to deal with damaged / scratched cds, it can also be used to tell your computer where to point to read the real audio data. No need to lose quality via that 1/8 inch cable.
