I drive stick. I remember once my friend go int o the car with me once to take a maybe 1 mile trip to get some food (but through city so it wasnt easy driving). The second I opened the door someone called me. I answered, and hung up about two seconds after we got out of the car at our destination. My freind gave me this look of pure envy and said "Wow, you drive really well"

So some of us can drive stick and talk on the cell phone in city traffic ;)

Heres the way I look at it:

It mostly only has value if I buy the whole series, it is dumb to just own 'season 1' or just 'season 3'. So if a show runs a long time, you're going to need to buy a bunch of seasons. That means, in order to watch a six season program in my own home off DVD, I need to spend 300$. That just seems LUDICROUS. It isnt about length or quality or anything like that. Once things start costing 300$+ for me I want them to be interactive and I want them to last a long time. Things of this nature (for me) would be: guitars, computers, camera, TVs, or like an ipod or something.

Personally, I own Firefly, Family Guy, and Futurama. But only becuase they didnt last long enough for me to have to buy a million seasons of them. The thought of rerealeasing something to make an extra buck and then charging SO much just seems a little underhanded to me and I wont support it.

I always felt 50 bucks for a season was ludicrous. Selling DVDs of TV shows is like an icing on the cake to me and paying like 300 dollars to own a six season show is INSANE. They should be less becuase they were already on friggin TV for free with thier ad/cable revenue. I love Stagate, but unless (when it is finally over), I can get the whole entirety of the series for 100-150 bucks, I wont. Also, other than the simpsons, I cant see myself shelling out that much for any other series.

Especially this whole "Santa is as real as george washington is" arguement. It's odd since I've heard the EXACT same comparison to George Washington before. Now, of course Washington has his own mythologies but he was a real person! Santa was based on a person (I think, I might be wrong) but the myth has long forgotten whoever it was based on. It is a LIE.

Then people wonder why thier children dont trust them!!! My parents never used anything like that when I was a child. Admittedly I was Jewish, but the did have mythological people who did things for me (tooth fairy and Mr. Pumpkin head), but they let me know it was for fun and they werent real. I never had to find out that my parents had been decieving me for years and wonder what else they hadn't been telling me about. My parents have always told me the uncensored truth about everything. Lying to children is dispicable.

Have fun not thinking and enjoying life without thought of the consequences.

When someone commits a crime in society they are sent to jail. That is, in a sense, banning them from society (as far as we can without actually killing them). They are doing the same thing with the internet.

Society is good becuase people have made it so. People who commit crimes are decidely people who, instead of bettering our society, are actively hurting it, so we remove them from it. Hackers and such who create malicious viruses and such are hurting the internet that all us regular people all work to make better. Thus, we ban them.

They can not enjoy all the benfits of the internet becuase they took advantage of them. It is like that fable about the chicken who makes bread, and no one helps her, and then when she is done everyone wants to eat it.

All that being said, I still think is unenforceable and a little silly, but I really dont mind having them lose all the privaleges of being able to use the internet becuase they took advantage of it and were malicious. In short: fuck 'em.
