Has none seen the new ask.com commercials in the last month or so on TV? While I like the preview feature, I am still going to stay with Google for all my random searching needs. Hopefully Google will make a preview enhancement soon so they won;t be left behind by ask.com.
Duuuude yer getting a dellienware! Might drive alien wareprices down I would hope, and hopefully see AMD processors in Dell machines. One can only hope.
Man if I didn't have a laptop in college I would have went nuts. Not only did I take excellent notes but it also provided an excellent distraction to me... and everyone behind me as I would always have some kind of movie playing during class.
I find it very strange that the winners of the recently posted FF Extensions contest do not work. The extensions that is. I like this alpha of FF 2 but I wish I still have the extensions / Themes I had before still working.
While I completely agree with the second part of your post... I must disagree with the first part. Enterprise as a whole ruined Star Trek. Not only that but Paramount as well, but not even attempting to promote the series and put it on the real networks, ABC, FOX etc..
As for the built-in audience I agree. The Star Wars show will take off, and I hope against hope that they get better writers, producers, advertising than Star Trek did because its about time a good sci-fi show take the numbers for once. I pray it does well:)
Now while I will fighting off "flamebait and trolling remarks" I must bring up that I think this might be a very BAD thing for Star Wars. While I love the movies, I can't help but think about Star Trek: Enterprise and how it ruined the franchise of Star Trek. A prelude to the first Star Wars movies as a TV series while in cecept might be a good idea, but what happens when the series starts to venture away from the accepted timelines of events that has been set forth by Lucas.
Personally, I think a series after the first three star wars films (A new Hope, Empire strike back, return od the Jedi) might be something that would attract more of an audience myself. I am still looking forward to whatever comes out of Hollywood as far as Star Wars goes but I am taking this news with a grain of salt until I actually see what is produced.
As a programmer, I understand where Mico$oft is coming from. I wouldn't want someone stealing my code and making a profit off of it by stealing my programs. My Question is, why does it seem that the Tri-State COmputer Show here in NY always seems to have pirated software/OEM software (without the hardware piece) for sale and they never get in trouble? Theres something fishy there... But not to digress, I think that Microsoft is doing a good thing by attempting to stop piracy.
Broadband to every american they say huh? Will the government be the one paying Time Warner to bring a cable line the ten miles to my mother's house? Or will they force sattelite companies to not decrease your bandwidth if you "use it too much" as part of their fair use clause? I highly doubt it, and I really wouldn't want my tax money to go to such a program... Eventhough its a semi-good cause.
Well, the movie makers out there in CA need to realize something. Sequels upons sequels do not guarantee money. The think the best movie I saw last year was Wedding Crashers, but thats it. The best movie of the last 3 years... Return of the King, not even made in this country. Hollywood needs to come up with BETTER more exciting stories like movies of old that can capivate an audience... Movies like say... First Contact, Back to The Future... Saving Private Ryan Lord of the Rings etc.. These movies they put out that have no real stories, give people no connection to characters no real significance... They need to stop.
My advice: Fire all your executives, writers etc who come up with nothing worthwhile and hire people with fresh new and exciting ideas. Something that might say.... Interest Us?!
I use VB daily at work. However I still believe that in order to learn programming techniques properly, I would suggest still learning: C++, C#, Intel Assembly, and Java. VB is something that comes VERY easily after using those languages.
I love how science is now using video game technology to attempt to figure out theory... I know while it is not a new concept/practice, I still find it amazing what kind of educated guesses a computer can make over the human mind. Not to mention that huge 450 MB image of the galaxy mentioned in the article is amazing as well. I cannot wait until we can directly photograph extra-solar planets. Our quest to find life and answers in this mindboggling sized universe is increasing all the time. The sheer size of the Telescopes being used is amazing as well. I recently traveled to Hawaii and viewed the Telescopes at the top of Maunea Kea... Just seeing the Size of the Subaru Telescope or the Keck Twins is just... awe striking. I have pictures too! Head over to: http://www.ussamazon.com/live/hawaii/telescopes.JP G yeah upper case JPG, case sensative, blah blah blah.
I agree with you there. I run a 6.1 surround sound setup for my PC, and there is no comparison to the old 5.1 system I used to have. Not to mention, the better the setup, always makes LOTR more enjoyable:) If only I could get 50 speakers going, and a 90 inch screen into my livingroom... it would be LOTR all the time... Not to mention Star Trek::ducks::
I have always been very happy with all my samsung products that I have. Cellphone, LCD Monitors, My microwave (yeah I know, but it was like $40 on my discount when I worked at the blue beast (Best Buy)). Anyway, now that Samsung is delving into the mp3 market with an ipod like device, I have to say I am going to place 100% of my faith in their innovative abilities to come up with something with an edge much like apple did with its ipod. I for one am looking forward to seeing what exactly they come up with that will propell them into a competing market with apple. It should be interesting, and hopefully, healthy for pricing.
I never even read about this visible Supernova. I knew I mispelled the Keck Twins too lol. When I was in Hawaii in November the people who work the telescopes told me that they have VERY busy schedules, you are right. Sometimes educational/research institutions pay $25,000 just for one night. If you are interested you can see a picture I took of the keck telescopes at: http://www.ussamazon.com/live/hawaii/telescopes.JP G Yeah upper case JPG, server I use for that site is case sensative. But thanks for the awesome info!
Sometimes a supernova can be viewed. There are reports during the time of old kingdom and such of Egypt that Super Nova were observed... But the stars were within our own galaxy. 440 million light years is well outside our galaxy. Although it would be nifty to see a Super Nova in the night skies. Maybe a decent sized telescope like the Kek Twins on Maunea Kea on the island of Hawaii will get some good pictures:)
Does this college president also support the use of blood letting and using leeches to cure his students of random diseases too? People really need to read the findings of studies done with these topics so things like this do not occur.
Whenever the morality, ethics, or safety of Nanotechnology is brought up I think of the Excellent book by Michael Crichton... While I do agree with everything in the interview and how safety and open source would benefit it... I can't stop and think back to that book.
Now, after seeing that the PS3 might be able to be a PVR, I would have to say this would change my mind of whether or not to purchase a gaming console. In the past, they could play DVDs, but I have a home theater system... But this would make me definately want to purchase a PS3. Not only would it play DVDs (with my HT System, but it would record TV for me... and Time Warner wants 415 a month for that... so it pays for itself over time.
The only question is... Will Sony make their PVR software able to understand the guide information coming through? Or would you need to hook the console to the internet to get a directory of whats on much like how my ATI All in Wonder does for when I have it record? Definately something worth while.
NASA's Science programs have been under attack since the Mercury missions... First by scientists and such. They were never popular in the science community then. But now being attacked by ideological people? I find this a little disturbing. As science is the search for truth... And me, as a republican, I think science needs to be left alone for the most part. We need to go back to the moon, and on to Mars.
Now, after you drink the whiskey you know that there will be a bus handy on the motherboard for when you do your computing heh... I love how the PC is built into the bottle. I however would LOVE to see a PC built into an old UNIX manual has anyone seen such a case mod?
I didn't know you could still send a telegram through western Union. Whenever I think of Western Union I think of Money orders. But since there are no more Telegrams being sent over the wire... Does that mean the Pony Express is going to be taken out too?1 Say it ain't SO!
So I am happy to see that Vista will not be coming with Microsoft AntiVirus software. The last thing anyone needs is Vista being shipped with an AntiVirus suite that won't you install Norton's AntiVirus because Vista doesn't like it. But I am wondering how long it will be before Vista gets hammered with viruses after it gets released. I am not holding my breath for M$ to actually code up an OS that has no obvious flaws.
Microsoft products will never be secure, if the source code is released or not. No ifs ands or buts about it. End of story. Run Microsoft Windows, allow people access to everything you do online.
Being that the MPAA isn;t making copies of movies for monetary gain, I can see why it would not break the DMCA. However, does that mean that if I download a movie and not sell it, I am fine? Personally, I will always pay for all the movies I get, but this brings up a good point. Why are they able to make copies of movies, but if I want to make a backup DVD of scratched DVDs or DVDs that have seen better days, it would be considered breaking the law?

ROFL. I think only a UNIX Manual would be big enough though. Although I suppose a Worthless MCSE Manual might work too... lol.
