And privacy, my system does NOT track name, just that the email came from a valid email address. It does NOT even tell anyone who sent the address.
As for Domain stuff - your arguement is silly.
It is the ISP that checks the email address, not the domain server. It is NOT easy to set up as an ISP and fare easier to shut down an offending ISP then it is to kill a Domain.
Go back and READ what I wrote instead of totally ignoring my proposal.
You seemed to have totally missed the idea that the email will be automatically rejected unless the address listed as it's return address replies to a ping from the intended recepient.
All it takes is some simple email changes:
1) No email can be recieved if it does not have a valid return address that replies to a simple ping with the word "email".
2) After the first 50 email addresses are checked that day, any additional pings automatically reply with the word "bulk" instead of email.
This can be done by the ISP as part of their sendmail protocal. The only reason this has not been is:
1) Political power of the more respectable bulk emailers who try and pretend they are not spammers (Usually by using the inanne ploys as join our "service" and I hope you do not check the box)
2) It would require some organization to create the protocals and upgrade sendmail.
Pick one of the following:
Salsa, Swing, Argentine Tango
2 classes a week for at least 6 months should do it.
Learning any of these dances will turn a nerdy boy into a cool man (and popular with a lot of sexy women). Not only will your social life will turn around, you will be healthier, and you will enjoy life more. People will be impressed by your skills, and think you are more than just a brain.
(I did not start until I was 30, but I made up for lost time.)
When someone says something costs 50cents it actually costs a LOT more. It costs effort on my part to both think about it and get it.
While the getting it part is less, the thinking part is more for site unseen.
Now remember that for every 1 good you buy, you will be bombardarded by 100's of goods you reject. This is real money - it is what you pay to advertisers in order to get them to give you free TV etc. etc.
The theoretical best possible micro-payment service must also simplify the buying process to eliminate as much as possible the following:
They must find a way to compensate you for the effort you spend rejecting products. (Advertising has not yet found a way to do this on the net, even though they were succesfull with TV.)
They must simplify the actual purchases process on your part without imposing extra costs (privacy abusive cookie systems)
Close but not perfect.
The majority of property owners in the US own their Mineral rights (That even goes if you ignore corporate property owners.
secondly and more importantly, a large amount of of Right of Way is GIVEN away by municipalities.
Yes they pay railroad companies to put wires/pipes over the tracks, but when it comes to paying for right of way from the public (i.e. city/state/federeal owned land like streets) the telephone companies got sweetheart deals that the cable companies would give their right nuts to get.
Just because you personally are not knowledgable enough to do it does not neccesarily mean they are too stupid to build a submarine.
You do realize that there ARE people in the world that can build a safe submarine?
For all you know, the majority of the members may have jobs in navy ship yards during the week, and just want to build one for themselves instead of for their country.
While the commercial OSes derive from BSD code, it is not the same thing.
Related to that, there are three sources of bugs that Closed OS's will have but Open OS's will not.
1) Errors in the derivation of the BSD code - that is they generally have to make minor changes in the BSD code to get it to work with their product.
2) Bugs in the Non-BSD code that is wrapped around the BSD code.
3) Errors found in the BSD code after the Closed code was written. Usually the closed Os will NOT upgrade the BSD code for a bug found in it because either 1) they are lazy, 2) they are ignorant of the bug, or 3) doing so would require a re-write of the Non-BSD code.

The thing was over priced, with a TON of hype for what turned out to simply be an electric scooter with a fancy control mechanism. Big deal. Get yourself an electric Razor scooter and forget the over-hyped, over priced thing.
There are two problems with micro payments:
1) The processing cost of the seller. This solves that problem.
2) The decision cost of the buyer. When buying online you are buying sight unseen. low cost items are generally impulse buys, which tend not to happen sight unseen. It also makes a LOT more sense to sign up with a single specific trusted company for sight unseen stuff then to purchase from tons of others.
ALL meteors slow down, even big meteors. Friction is nasty. Even without this, the experiement will still be helpfull. So maybe we do not learn as much about the big meteors, we still would learn about the smaller ones.
Yes, it may not tell us how to avoid killer meteors/comets/ what have you, but it will teach us more about the universe.
Regarding the Radio, while many people think Marconi, most realize that Marconi just built what Tesla designed and wrote about. (more about the Indian fellow below)
Everyone is a Discoverer: I discovered Canada at the age of 5 - before then neither I nor any of my associates had heard of it. And I just discovered Qanat (Cool underground Irrigation system found in Mexico and Iran). Neither I nor any one I knew of had heard of them before.
To get credit as a Discoverer you need to be the first of X group.
An unknown indian discovered the New world first for his tribe and their friends. Then possibly an unknown Asian for Asia, then almost certainly a Viking for the Vikings, then Definitely Columbus discovered it for the southern Europeans.
As for inventions, the truth is God invented everything. But we call someone that discovers how to apply a scientific principle in a new way, the inventor of any product that
1)was impossible without that discovery
2)at the time of their "invention", only needed that discovery to be possible.
Otherwise you could say that Benjamin Franklin invented all electrical devices because he made some discoveries about electricity.
Inventors are just discoverers with a pracitcal bent. And Discoverers are group related.
Question: If we find out that intelligent life exists on other planets and that 10,000 years ago, they "invented" radio, are we going to say that Tesla, Marconi and that indian fellow did NOT invent the Radio? No.
All three, Tesla, Marconi and the Indian fellow all qualify as inventors of the Radio. They invented it for different groups of people.
The finances of the CEO and COO are FAR more important to you than your finances should be to them.
I would agree to let anyone do a credit check on them as long as you personally have permission to do a credit check on the CEO, the COO and anyone that has permission to see your finances.
P.S. Excessive Credit Checks can give you bad credit. So their attempt to look at your credit could itself damage your credit.
P.P.S. While honesty is good, refusing to aid the peeping toms of this world is better. They have no right, and you got no business asking him "what he is hiding" Mind your own business.
Human nature is to believe in evil more than incompetence.
However, I am pretty sure that the people at MSN were just so incompetent they could not get a simple thing like margins correct, rather than so evil as to try such an in-ept form of sabotage.
Of course, does it really matter if Microsoft is evil or stupid? The result should be the same, do not consider them a viable company to do business with.
But that has not stopped people before.
P.S. the End User Agreement itself has NEVER been found to be legal. If they do not get a real honest to god SIGNATURE, than it does not stand up in court.
Room is hot. Instead of using a large external fan or airconditioner to cool room, I will attempt to use the tiny little fan in my computer to redirect the heat it creates into a small, confined area.
Nevermind that the fan was probably selected for its cheapness more than the it's ability and is probably barely capable of dealing with it's normal function.
You seem to be upset that some groups have demanded that the smaller ISP's and less technological countries do the main work in solving the Spam problem.
THEY ARE THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Yes, they may not personally be the people doing it, but they are part of a group that IS doing it.
I think Blocking is TOTALLY appropriate Punishment to the Asian Countries for their failure to police their ISP's and fight the evil of Spam.
Note, I personally have had my email to a friend blocked because of the RBLs. He gave me a new email address, (at another small ISP) and the problem was solved. If you have that problem, SOLVE it by moving AWAY from the SPAMMERS, instead of supporting them by your lazyness.
Keep in mind the following:
True High Quality Voice Recognition is the next real Operating System Killer "feature".
If Linux gets it going reliably before MS, it could wipe out MS, simply because voice commands are so user friendly. If M.S. gets it up and working before Linux does, Linux may end up the next "Apple". That is why MS is interested in it so much, while IBM etc. do not care.
True Medium Quality Voice Recognition is the holy grail for PDA type devices. It would allow people to drop the cumbersome stylus / Graffiti / micro keyboard data entry system, freeing up things like the Watch version of the PDA.
These things ARE heavily desired and researched, but what you considered to be "acceptable" quality using old hardware never took off because it was not really acceptable - it sucked.
The technology - both hardware and software are just not up to most people's needs yet. Try again in 5 years.
1) While windows is evil, it has more high end games that run on it.
2) Mac HARDWARE is still over-priced compared to similar PC stuff that you can get cheaply in good quality.
It is a sample dvd intended to get you to buy a full CD. They probably do not burn the entire product and they probably use copy protection.
this means:
1) It will contain CRAP most of the time, so no one will be ripping anything. The whole point is they have to GIVE the junk away because no one is buying it. Take movies: You do not need to give away free samples of Star Wars, you give away free samples of Jackass.
2) The quality of the music probably begins to degrade almost instantly. Yeah, 8 hours is enough to rip it, but unless you rip it right after opening, you are not getting DVD/CD quality stuff. If they do it right, you might get better quality by using a microphone to record the music off the radio, rather than trying to rip a disc 15 minutes after first opening.
3) This is just one form of copy protection, I am sure they will use several others as well.
P.S. I think it unlikely that this will encourage more waste CD's. AOL has the garbarge CD market covered, this will not significnatly increase the problem.
While I can not generally say I know better than all owners, I can generally say that I know better than any person who:
1) Did not research his purchase enough to discover this feature before hand.
2) Does not see that in 99% of the cases, it is a HUGE benefit instead of the rather minor problem.
3) Considering how unusual and rare their computational needs are, did not go out of his way to make sure they got what they needed, instead of what was standard.
And privacy, my system does NOT track name, just that the email came from a valid email address. It does NOT even tell anyone who sent the address. As for Domain stuff - your arguement is silly. Each email address is now good for 50 emails per day using the ping response system.
After that, all emails get coded as BULK on the subject line by the ISP, and even the STUPIDEST person can set an email filter to drop those emails.
If an email is only good for 50 per day, that is NOT enough for a spammer to operate.
You seemed to have totally missed the idea that the email will be automatically rejected unless the address listed as it's return address replies to a ping from the intended recepient.
